We have put together the list of excursions that we "might" want to go on. (Based on the list of excursion from Cass' BOB page.) I need to dig it out and get some feedback from those who have gone before. :thumbsup2

Matthew

Rob and I haven't even talked much about excursions. I think because we won't have the kids with us, we're kinda laid back about the whole thing. If the kids would be coming, I probably would have it all planned out already.:rotfl:

We may end up playing it all by ear. I know that I hope to have at least one of the ports with no excursions planned. You know, just stroll around maybe go to the beach, drink some frozen drinks......:dance3:

Here's our initial list of maybe's. If anyone has any recommendations or has been on these before. I'd love some feedback.

St. Maarten

- Golden Eagle Catamaran
(I went on a whale watching catamaran trip year ago and loved it.)

- Mountain Bike Adventure
(We have kids that will be 10 & 12. Is this too tough?)

- Tiki Hut
(Boat to theprivate floating island oasis of Tiki Hut - Sounds nice)

St. Thomas and St. John

- St. John Trunk Bay Beach and Snorkel

- St. John Island Tour

- 5-Star St. John Snorkel and Beach Adventure

- Atlantis Submarine

- Skyride to Paradise Point

- Captain Nautica's Snorkel Expedition

- Buck Island Catamaran Sail and Snorkel

As you can see, we have quite a bit to whittle down, especially on St. Thomas and St. John. Help please! :cool2:

Matthew

NOt sure if that is directed at anyone in particular, but I will be happy to chime in. We are planning to do the St. John Trunk Bay Snorkel and Beach excursion. My parents and sister have been on the St. John tour and said they would love to return to Trunk Bay. Since it is an entirely different island, we are thinking it would be best to keep to a DCL excursion so we avoid any potential problems.

We did this one in 2005. Bring snacks with you. It is so pretty over there. It was a long boat ride and the kids were starving and thirsty. The beach is gorgeous and the snorkling was really nice, and easy for the non swimmers.

We did the Golden Eagle in St Maarten. Alot of fun, If you are taking kids be aware the beach is clothing optional. Needless to say the teen age boys got an eye full!!!

Yeah, I noticed when we did the 3-Ngt to Nassau that a lot of the repeat cruisers stayed onboard in Nassau. I probably will too if we do that cruise again. Since it was our first time though, we wanted to check things out. Aside from the 3-Ngt to Nassau, we have never been to these places before. Have you done any of the excursions that I mentioned above on your previous cruises?

In the future, after we know where to go, we might go our own way too. :thumbsup2

Can you tell I have no interest to work today!!!!

This is our first Eastern cruise, so all new. I maybe interested in doing a "two flags" tour in St Maarten, and then the beach in St Thomas on our own.

What ADR"S did you get?

Chefs De France, Boma,50's PT,Coral Reef, T-Rex, Liberty Tree Tavern, O'Hana Breakfast. Chefs, Boma, and T-Rex are new to us. The others were kid requested. O'Hana character bkfst is our family tradition on our check out morning....

We have two girls, no boys. However, they went to Juan les Pins when DCL made port in Villefranche. They didn't comment about the topless swimmers there. Of course, the beach was about 90% full of americans, so very few people had their tops off. :rotfl:

You will LOVE T-Rex. We went over Thanksgiving for the first (and only) time. It is now on our permanent must do list when we go to WDW. The interior of the building is amazing and the food was great too.

That's good to know. We actully had an "issue" when it came to this restaurant not being on the DDP. When I realized that it didn't participate in the plan, I thought we'd go ahead and skip it. (My boys are big eaters, so the DDP is the way to go for us.) So with a little research, we discussed with our kids the fact that if we pay out of pocket, we must all agree beforehand that we will all order something reasonable off the menu (happens to be hamburgers). I was shocked that they were perfectly fine with that and one of the kids (I think it was Emily) even offered to get water to drink, which I said was unneccessary, but I liked that she would even think of that.
Bottom line is that they are 16, 13, and 9, so we want to go there while they are going to get the most out of it, especialy, Alex, the 9 yr old.

Well another good thing to know is that I thought the portion size was very generous for the price paid. In fact, I recall getting to go boxes to take back to the room. Beth and I could easily have shared the Chicken Fried Steak that I ordered and neither one of us would have been hungry at the end.

Paige you have picked out some great restaurants to eat at. I have not been to the T-Rex restaurant. It sounds fun. Grandkids and I will need to visit it the next time we are at Disney World. Diane
