10/24/2009 Bash On the Boat (I'm with B.O.B.) - Thread #17

I was going to wait and post these in my 'real' trip report, but Nancy had to go and make me feel guilty. These are for MG (feel better :grouphug: ). All of these pictures were taken from the Liberty Belle, something we hadn't done in a long time. It's amazing to me that Disney puts so much detail into places that can only be seen via this boat and the railroad.

We haven't done the liberty belle either for some time. We wanted to do the pirate ship at DL, but it was being used for Fantasmic that night, so unlucky again.

Well, it's not a vacation pic, but....

I thought I'd share the "practice cake" I made....it's for the family party this weekend.

Let's see who can guess what it is....

Wow! - cool star wars thingy! - sorry - no idea what the ship is called:goodvibes

have a great time! We got another inch of snow today but the forcast for the weekend is in the 50's. YEA!!!

We all had a blast.

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes and wonderful advice :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Kira's face is still a little swollen but not too bad. Most of her welts are gone and I am giving her some Benylyn as ordered by the ER doc.

She never seemed to be in pain at all, I asked if she had any owies and she shook her head no. She was obviously bothered by her ears (rubbing them) and the lip situation seemed uncomfortable but she was always in good spirits.

Her and Rob were shopping at Costco and she had the muffin in the tray in her stroller, which is cleaned often but I guess you never know what could possibly have gotten on there. Rob said she was eating it at check out and seemed fine. He paid for the stuff and it wasn't until he went to put her in the car seat that he noticed the swelling.

The doctor said it would have had to be something she ate and the muffin was the last thing she ate. She's had muffins from there many many times before, this particular one many times before but not for a couple of months.

So, unfortunately, it could be a lot of things.

I am going to see her family doctor and talk about allergy testing and other stuff as I am very new to all this. I have allergies but they are all environmental and the only thing I have to put up with is the fact that I always need a pocket full of kleenex wherever I go.

Here's some pics I took at the hospital from my camera phone...

This is just before her eye started to swell up..

Cass - what swelled first? - looks like it was her lips? - chances are it was something she either ate or touched and then touched her mouth. How long had she been eating the muffin before the swelling started? Could she have touched something at check-in while Rob was paying and bagging up etc?

Yes, her lip swelled first and the welts followed. And yes, she could have touched stuff while he was shopping, it could be a million things, who knows. She was eating the muffin about 20 mins before her reaction.

I got a list of ingredients for the muffin and there are no nuts in it, however they don't guarantee that their products don't come into contact with nuts or traces of nuts.

I did some research and yes, they do allergy testing for 2 year olds so I will ask her doctor to get that arranged. She has an appointment next Wednesday. I will let you know what he says. :thumbsup2

I hope they figure it all out... poor little tatertot!! :grouphug:

Bernie, I doubt she would have had anything from those samples they offer in Costco without Rob knowing about it.

I'm sorry you don't feel good. Mine has moved down into my chest and I've started to cough

Is it sticking down there Andy? It isn't here yet, but I expect it will when the sun goes down in a few hours.

Nope, not sticking here yet, but it is sn*wing heavier now with bigger flakes. The 50* temps the past couple of days helped heat the ground and roads up to where the sn*w is still melting as soon as it lands!!! :goodvibes

Tonight however, might be a different story.........:sad2:

perhaps he was distracted with bright shiny lights??..LOL

I hate the cough... feel better! wed off again then?

I kinda doubt the allergen will be nuts then. Trace allergies are usually set off by repeated post-allergic exposures to allergens. So even if there were a trace of nuts (i.e. dust) it would not have necessarily set off a reaction. It would have had to be an actual nut ingestion. But I am betting on the muffin as being the culprit. 20 minutes post-exposure is about right. The fact that it started on the mouth and extended to the body is about right for a consumable.

I spoke to soon, just opened the door to head back to work and saw the ground is starting to get covered, the temps are dropping as well..........

I just heard a plow, so I looked out my window and sure enough, our street is coated now.

Poor munckin - I wouldnt have thought a "trace" would have caused the reaction, and almost every manufacturer would cover themselves by telling you there could be "traces" in their products. Its great that your doc will do an allergy test - we had to fight for Ellis to be tested at 3 years old. Good luck - keep us posted.:thumbsup2

Its awfully scary when you first see your baby swelling up like that but dont panic too much - If you have any questions I'll try to help:grouphug:

Hey Dan...it is snowing pretty hard here now and the wind is blowing too. They are saying just a few inches, so it will probably stop before too long. I am tired of all this snow!

anyone else having "one of those days"? you know where you feel like a hour has past and it was only 5 mins??..lol

I am tired of all this snow!

Likewise!!! ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

We have good friends of ours (DCL House Party hosts January 2008) that will be sailing on the Magic this coming Saturday. They fly down to Florida on Friday and will be spending Friday night in WDW, lucky chaps........:hyper:
