Heading out the door to go to work........have a great Tuesday everyone......:wave2:

Well, we had a bit of a scare tonight...

Just got back from spending the evening at the Emergency Room with Kira. Rob gave her a muffin from Tim Hortons (coffee place) and she had a severe allergic reaction. One side of her face was all swollen. By the time we got to the hospital, her eye was starting to swell up a little and she had welts all over her body.

They gave her some Benilyn and a prescription for an epi-pen. The swelling started to come down on it's own after about 2 hours but the welts were still there when we left. We have to follow up with her family doctor and just monitor her.

We're not 100% sure it was the muffin but it was the last thing she ate just before she reacted. I am calling Tim Horton's in the morning and getting the ingredients of that muffin just so we know. The doctor said that it was most likely some type of nut.

She's never had any type of reaction before and she's had strawberries and raspberries and peanuts and other typical reactive foods.

Karen, we were so worried and helpless, I don't know how you deal with this every day. :worship: :worship: :worship: Kudos to you for braving what you have to every day :flower3:

:grouphug: :grouphug: For all of you. :grouphug: :grouphug:
I hope Kira feels better soon and you find out exactly what the source was. She can come for allergy testing on the 20th with her Auntie Nancy. :flower3:

Happy Birthday Thomas!

Sure wish "someone" would post some more vacation pics. :goodvibes

The final triggers could either have been the chemical they cleaned the table with, or something you ate if you kissed her afterwards, so think what you had too.

When you get a reaction its pretty quick - usually within 20 mins if not muh quicker - (with Ellis its almost instant) so you can eliminate anything before 30 mins.

Big hugs to you all. Its real scarey to start with but you'll get used to it. You're handbags will now need to get bigger though to carry her medi-bag:goodvibes

Thinking about what you said, I remember my niece as a small tot, having an allergic relation to a small metalic balloon that was sold at a check-out. We think it was the plastic straw handle. The side of her face went all red, but was cured with a anti-histamine.

Well folks, the sun is shining, it snowed another couple of inches overnight, all the neighbours are heading to the park at 11am to sledge so I need to make flasks of hot chocolate and get the bikkies ready.:goodvibes (AND MY CAMERA OF COURSE:lmao: )

I'll take the waterproof one just incase I get snowballed mid shot:rotfl2:

Have a great day folks:goodvibes

Have a good time Karen. It didn't snow in London and it's thawing very well at the moment. I think we have some more due soon though.

Happy Birthday Thomas!

Yes, and from me too!

Nancy...we'll have to dub you the Celebration Fairy as you seem to keep track of everyone's birthdays, etc.

Yes, I agree with you.

BTW, a colleague of mine has just returned from 3 weeks in sunny FL. I encouraged him to visit WDW and they booked for two nights at All Star Movies. His report back was....he hated every moment, including his day in Epcot. In fact, they didn't stay the second night.

Oh well, not everyone likes Mickey!

I'm off. I'm having a surgical procedure today and would love to come back to see some great vacation pics. :cheer2:

Later people....

:grouphug: For you & Rob & Kira!!!

That must have been so scary for you! You need to find a good allergist that can figure out what caused this. Hopefully it will be something easy that she can avoid (and doesn't like!)

:grouphug: :grouphug: for y'all. Was it very painful for her? Probably more painful for you, huh? I hate that helpless feeling when your child (or any loved one) is ill. So sorry you and Rob had to go through that, and precious little Kira, too, of course. Please keep us posted.....

Kathy, this might sound like a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway. I know you stayed "concierge" on this last trip. Do you know if "concierge" gives you a guarantee of a good view, i.e., "savannah view" at AKV/AKL?

Not a stupid question at all. It depends on what you mean by a 'good' view. I don't think any of them face the parking lot or have a dumpster view, but they can't guarantee you a particular view, just like a regular res.

I know that at AKL, concierge does not guarantee you a Savannah view, which always seemed weird to me. I'm not sure about the view from the Kidani Village concierge rooms.

At the Boardwalk, I had a concierge room with a garden view, but some have Boardwalk views ('good' is a relative term here, because some people don't like the Boardwalk view, they think it's noisy.)

Frank requested a MK view for the Contemporary concierge, but when I got there, they only had a Bay Lake view on the 14th floor in the category he reserved. So we took a mini-downgrade to the 12th floor (also concierge) to get the view we wanted.

Hope that helps.

I was going to wait and post these in my 'real' trip report, but Nancy had to go and make me feel guilty. These are for MG (feel better :grouphug: ). All of these pictures were taken from the Liberty Belle, something we hadn't done in a long time. It's amazing to me that Disney puts so much detail into places that can only be seen via this boat and the railroad.
