I think I am off for the night. Elaine and I are talking Christmas gifts to supplement the Wii for the kids then heading to bed.

Goodnight!

Yes it can with the standard. I just haven't checked it out yet.

Have you even opened the box yet? :confused3 :lmao:

Heck, I was still in my pj's at noon on Xmas morning boxing. DS and DW were long gone, but I was still playing. :rotfl:

Thought you were a Diet Coke convert. That's what you said on the Repo.

You live in Diet Pepsi Country up there in CA.

I think in two years, the Diet Pepsi will go flat. Diet Coke will have more fiz by then. ;)

NOOOOOOOOO not me.....I'll drink coke if I have to, but Diet never!!!! Won't even drink Diet Pepsi. I actually drank Pepsi a lot up until about 3 years ago then switched to water and tea. Really can't drink soda at all now, but when I do want one it has to be Pepsi.

Becky, do you not remember Rose's Diet Coke vs. Diet Pepsi analogy from the other thread?

Not disputing DVC. I think it is great that you will be able to take your grandkids to WDW later. Like I said, I'm looking at buying a block on the resale market. 75 points would be all we need.

What I'm opposing are the statements that it is cheaper or free for DVC people to use their points to pay for the cruise. Or that it is no cash outlay for them to go on the cruise. I'm merely pointing out that you have at least the annual maintenance fees to pay every year and that is an expense that you have to make. That is the cost of you going on the cruise. I could argue that it is more than the maintenance fees, but at a minimum your cost is the amount you have to send to DVC annually for the points you are using.

The person paying cash may actually be in a better position in an economic downturn because they can walk away from the cruise. With DVC, a person can not walk away from their maintenance fees unless they sell their points.

While I do follow your number logic, there is another part of DVC ownership which you do not take into account: discounts and special offers. For instance, you can save nearly $100 on an annual pass, free valet parking at DVC resorts, free parking at the parks, discounts on special events like MNSSHP & MVMCP (yes, only for certain nights, but it's usually $10/ticket), 15% on backstage tours, 10% discount @ World of Disney, car rental discounts, restaurant discounts, 'pool hopping privileges (except for Stormalong Bay and AKL pool) and my personal favorite: SPA discounts!!! etc. etc. Plus random special events: Expedition Everest had a Sneak Peak weekend that was only offered to DVC & AP holders.

Just another thing to consider about ownership...
