This is a question that is off topic from DCL but.....has anyone driven from the DC area to HHI via I 95? Just curious about a future road trip.

The closer you get to DC, the crazier it is. One minute you're travelling at a good clip, and the next, it's like a parking lot--even when it is not during rush hour.

I bet Matthew could weigh in on this.

Where are you guys finding the prices for the Baltic cruises? We'd love to take one although I fear that we've been "recessioned" out ...

I tried to find the pricing info on DCL's site last night but couldn't make much progress ... I really hate their website. Too much crap and not enough function.

On the other hand ... we leave for WDW in 24 hours!!! :cool1:

Asking for some dust stuff as I have another medical test today that I'll have to get follow-up results on while we're in FL ... but I already warned this doctor that I refused to curtail my food and alcohol intake until this trip was over. I have food porn to produce and wouldn't want to disappoint anyone. ;)

Here's a taste for you ... we're going to have lunch at Earl of Sandwedge tomorrow afternoon then we're headed to the MK where we will finally try that Dole Whip thing. Late dinner at Raglan Road ... yum!

We've started our newest review thread and it's in my signature if you'd like to stop by an say hello - it's already a crazy food fest!

Links to all "important" posts will be listed on the first page of the thread.

You guys all have a great two weeks ... I'll be thinking of you all! :goodvibes

Have a safe and fun trip Brenda! I look forward to reading about your eating adventures!

Good morning everyone!

I can't believe this...Sam is sick again! Whatever she has, she must not be able to beat too easily. We got home from our seminar yesterday as she was walking up the street from the bus she looked so sad and wouldn't say why. We thought she just had a bad day in school and/or a disagreement with one of her friends, but she said her head hurt. She fell asleep at 5 PM and pretty much slept all evening. Elaine just called the doctor and they want us to really pump her with fluids today.

Resale is a great idea. I think that's what we'd do if we wanted to buy into VWL, BCV or BWV. I recommended this to my sister, as well.

If you want to rent points I know a few people on another site that are very reliable and fair. Just let me know and I could point you in the right direction.

Elaine and I were talking at dinner last night. At first she seemed open to it, then she thought about the maintenance fees and taxes. Are there incentives to credit your fees like other time shares? When she thought about the annual fees, she wasn't as open to the idea.

When I drove down, I purposely scheduled driving through Baltimore and Washington in the middle of the night. I think I was the only car on the Beltway at 3 am! It was so hard to stick close to the 50 mph speed limit being the only car, but I knew about those cameras!

I am so bummed about the transatlantic repo in Sept. I emailed Sean and asked WHY WHY WHY COULDN'T THEY BE IN 2011!!! That is the year Sarah graduates. Although I did like the Baltic ones better, Sean would have loved to gone to St Petersburg.
Of course with the economy around the world the way it is I can see some major discounting with the prices they posted.

Shame you couldn't come with us in May, Becky on RCCL. You couldv'e stayed with us as well. Internet permittng, will will be doing a blog.

Yeah....it's the airfare. I sit and think how much it would cost and for the price of the entire thing we could almost buy into the Contemporary Villas. Puts it in perspective, doesn't it?

You only have to pay for one way though. Having to fly from the UK to Barcelona, we will have to check on luggage allowances, which will be restrictive.

Safe journey Brenda and good luck with the testspixiedust:

It seems that we'd be able to get perhaps $495/person one way. But multiply that by 4, plus cruise fare, plus tipping, passports (which we don't have yet), souviners, etc. PLUS flight from MCO to home afterwards (probably around $200/person Xs 4) and :headache: :scared: .

BUT, if we don't travel in 2009 it might all even out. Lots to think about! :surfweb:

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by incentives to credit your fees. :confused3
There are yearly dues that you can pay upfront or spread out amongst the year. Is that what you mean?

Kristin's shower went off without a hitch! We all had a great afternoon with family, friends, and really, really great food!

As threatened, here are a few pics of the afternoon:

She is beautiful. I can not wait to see the wedding pictures. Our son is getting married on July. I would love any tips for giving a shower. It looks like yours was wonderful.

Yes those are what I am referring to. We went to a presentation at Westgate our last visit to WDW and they mentioned you could get credit by advertising and having friends come to a presentation that can be applied to your annual maintenance fees.

The crazy salesman suggested making postcards and hanging them on a supermarket bulletin board.

DVC is much more attractive to me then any other timeshare, but I still have a lot of questions! I may never end up doing this, but if I do it will be DVC.

No, DVC does not do anything like that. They really are non-pressure and as members there are no incentives for referrals other than maybe a park ticket or something? Nothing huge from what I understand.

I think DVC pretty much sells itself so they do not use tactics like most other Timeshares.

Actually, DVC HAS institued cash incentives for referrals, but it depends on the state you live in. I just bought at AKV - tried to use my brother as a referral, but he lives in CT where referral bonuses are not allowed. So I mentioned other friends that live in NJ and they are getting $200 for referring me, once my contract closes. From what I understand, that $$$ figure goes up, depending on how many people you refer.

I'm just a newbie, so you really should check with someone from DVC. They are very low pressure.

Thats what I thought based on your last sentence! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the link Jeff.

MOTHER OF PEARL!!! :scared:  :scared1:

I'm telling you, that Repo from California to Florida was a steal. We paid $5,199 for the 3 of us in a Cat 9. Plus we only had to pay Domestic airfare.

I think the whole thing came in under $8,500 total. It would be $1,000 more just for the cruise in the Baltic and it is 3 nights SHORTER.

I have a date we're moving our "phantom" cruise to, but I think it will get moved from 2010 to 2011 when the new ship comes out.

Looks like an extended WDW trip, a week in Mexico at the end of October, or a cruise on Norwegian or Royal in 2010. May even look at Alaskan cruises for August 2010.

Like I said, DVC does pay for up to 5 referrals, but I know that CT is one of the states that does not allow it.

1st referral is $200, $350 for the 2nd, up to $1000 for the 5th.

I just bought at AKV on the Member Cruise and I got dinner at Palo, a Mickey big fig limited addition figurine, $250 onboard credit and 5 nights in a 2 bedroom savannah at AKV with Fast Passes included.

You need to chat with a DVC Guide about the latest deals. It's very low pressure and they have different offers at different times.

The debate in our house would be what resort to buy into! LOL Elaine would love the AKV, but I would be more into BWV or WV.

If we do it, it will be a couple of years away, but it is definitely something I might be interested in.
