question for anyone who's been to hawaii.

is it better to do a cruise or just fly there and hop around the islands?

we've been wanting to go there for ages and IF i retire in 2010 that may be a good retirement trip.
hawaii's been on our "bucket list" and since i dont have much time left:eek: (bad heart you know), thought maybe we should check into it.:yay:
friends of ours are doing a 1 week hawaii cruise the day we leave for FL.(1 week from sat)
is a week enough time in hawaii??

any advice will be appreciated.:grouphug:

Count Di and I on BOBers to Hawaii in 2010..

I know its worth nothing but here goes....To the person who priced up the New cruises i'd like to ask...

1/ Did anyone mention the worlds economic melt down?

2/ Did you do ANY research before coming up with theses Wonderful prices?

3/ Who do you think will be your customers,Brits or Yanks?...

4/ Do you take prescription or any other type of Drugs?....

For my Cat 6 on a 12 night cruise they want to charge me more than $7000 MORE than i paid for my Panama Canal REPO which had 3 more nights and i didn't have to sleep in a Hat and scarf or take Anti Sea-sickness tablets....The pricing is a joke..:sad2: :sad1: :sad2:

Sean,Karen and Heather? are you guys looking to buy into this madness?....This will regretfully be our last DCL and had it not been for the non refundable deposits and the fact we can't wait to sail with some wonderful friends again i would have canceled B.O.B without a second thought....:rolleyes1

I got some good news the other day.

Some of you in the past have asked me about the B9erSteve tagline that I go by on the boards. I'll refresh your memory in case you don't remember.

The name was based upon a hobby that I had started about 6 years ago. I was building a scale model of the Robot from "Lost In Space" While he never had a name in the series, in the pilot to the series he described himself as Robot Model B9. Hence B9erSteve. Well, about a year ago I was approached by a man named Ron who wanted to buy my unfinished Robot. Since, I had been stale on the project for about a year and I had been spending more time with my Christmas decor I decided that I could part with the robot. Well, Ron has been sending me pictures periodically on his progress and he told me that he finished the project this weekend. It was a hectic week because he had to get the Robot finished because a Production company in San Francisco wanted to borrow the Robot for a television show. It is a show on Discovery Channel named "Prototype This!" produced by the same group that does "Mythbusters" and they wanted the Robot for their season finale. So Ron wanted me to see the fruits of both of our labors. I'll share the pic that he sent me last Monday before he had to transport it to the Set.

It just looks fantastic! Ron did a wonderful job. The portions that I personally had a hand in was the Legs (From waist to treadsection, I built from scratch), About 50% of the finish work on the torso, From just below the bubble to the top of the torso is all acrylic work done by me, The Arms/Wrists/Claws, and the programming bay (which you can't really see in this photo).

All I can say is WOW!! Steve, will you let us know when the show airs please? I'd love to watch it.:)

i still have to put the molding back on the walls today, then i'm done.:thumbsup2

i'm still waiting on that smoocher from robin for finishing this project.

 I think they must have been smoking something at the time they priced the cruises.:rolleyes1 I am thinking there is going to be a sale on these cruises this time next year when they have not sold out.

I think the DVC resort in Hawaii is opening in 2010. We could all take over the resort. pirate:

On the DVC member cruise they said that the Magic and the Wonder will be sent to other ports. Someone said that they thouhgt one would go to the west cost and the other to Europe. The one on the west coast would be able to do special Alaskian cruises. :yay:

Wow, Steve...I'll have to show Rick.

I'm interested as well. I'm starting to wonder if DCL is getting out of reach for us. We are even considering taking DD on a Panama Canal on another line because of pricing, as well as "normal" cruises. I would like to try one of the mega RCCL ships, including the Oasis that is coming out. Definately will want to cruise at least once on the new DCL ships. As for them I think they said the new Panama Canal locks are set to open around 2015, 3 years after the 2nd new ship is done, so who knows maybe Sean and I will be heading out on that one if they decided to send one of the ships back. Don't get me wrong, nothing beats DCL right now, but they seem to be out pricing themselves. Of course it has been many years since we cruised on the fun ship, the only other line we have been on.

Wow! - thats a huge difference. We should all meet up on a different ship then for Bob 3:cool1:

That would be interesting....think they'd mind if we all had lime green mickey head door signs??? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Some of the newer Royal Caribbean ships look very cool....they would definitely tempt me.

One of the reasons we picked DCL the first time was because of the kid's club and characters....which will be less of a selling point as DS gets older. Don't get me wrong, I love the magic of Disney, but we're firmly entrenched (hopefully!) in the middle class with a mortgage, property taxes, and all that. We wouldn't even be able to afford the summer prices on DCL....not when we could practically take 2 vacations for the same price somewhere else.

However, we are still on for the BOB cruise!

Second to last night of pictures...... Here we go...

After we dropped off our luggage, we went down to DTD. Here's what the weather was like that day..
