My dw is kind of shy and has been driving herself crazy with something and I am hoping someone will be able to help her out. She is looking for a dress to wear for dinner on the cruise and is having a hard time. Did anyone order there dress online? Please if you have some suggestions pm her and maybe it will take a little stress off her. Thanks so much...Bob

How old is your daughter? My daughter, Sydney - 7, usually wears sun dresses/shorts nice shirt for the casual dinners and then for semi-formal and formal she does dress up. I actually am excited because I recently picked up a dress from American Girl that I absolutely adore and she loves it - http://store.americangirl.com/agshop/html/item/id/131494/uid/721 - she will most likely wear that one for Formal night.

Just about anything goes for formal/semi=formal night - no longer needs to be a floor length gown...they are TOO heavy and take up TOOOO much space - something that she'd wear to a Christmas party and/or wedding is my rule of thumb. I am a consistent online shopper...bought 6 dresses for my daughter's wedding - kept 3 - sent the rest back (so the ones i kept i will be taking - nice to get a 2nd wearing out of them) and come to think of it - one of them i didn't even have a chance to wear...

Hi again, Joanie.

Oh, and as far as the shirts go, my DH and I have already made some shirts for the 2 of us with the cruise logo on it. We will probably be wearing those on the first day.

we have our own cruise logo???

Tomorrow is the final day the sign up for the Stateroom Tour. This only because we already have a big group over 50. DCL way not want the group much bigger. Sorry

Hi, Bob. I've never ordered a formal/semi-formal dress online. What is it that she is looking for? I'm sure that there are plenty of ladies here, myself included who would love to help, just need a bit more info.

Does she know what style of dress she is looking for? Long, short, cocktail-length, strapless, spaghetti straps, color, material? The list could be endless. However, the bottomline is, I'm sure that whatever she chooses to wear will be perfect as long as she feels good and comfortable in it.

My Dw is a little embarrased that I posted that but I thought it might help. She is having a hard time finding something in town cause she is to me a beautiful woman but has to shop in the plus size category. As it would be here they only have shops for smaller gals and nothing in her size. She won't let me post her size but she is looking for something not too fancy but nice and confortable for her not clingy. She says long dress or below the knees and preferably not strapless as she is very modest. I saw someone post on here nice black slacks with a glittery shirt. Do you think she would stand out if she wore something like that? I am planning on wearing a collard shirt on most nights with nice slacks and on formal night throwing on a jacket. I was hoping to help her with something that would help her so that she doesn't look fancier then me :) but fits in with everyone else. Just trying to be a helpful hubby :goodvibes

Bob, have her PM me. I too, am a plus size beauty :lmao:, so I know exactly what she is talking about. I might be able to offer some advice and give her some options. And no, she would not stand out in a nice slacks outfit. In fact, you just reminded me of one that I have that I can wear. Thanks.

Anyway, I hope that helps.

Bob, I will be out late this evening, but if you/she PM tonight, I will reply tonight. I already have some ideas.

Formal night is as formal as you want to make it. I just wear a dress - nothing fancy (something I might wear to a wedding). DH will be in dress pants, shirt and tie. No jacket. Other nights - I'll wear either a bit more casual dress, skirt/capris with a dressier top. DH will wear dress docker pants with short sleeve dress shirt or polo.

What about a nice black skirt with dressier tops? It's really hard if you've never been on a cruise before to know what is expected dress wise. Kudos to you for trying to help DW. Good luck.

Don't forget folks to get me your info for the FE by Monday. I will start working on it this weekend and add the rest on Monday.

In case anyone needs a car.

I booked a one way car rental from Port to MCO yesterday with Budget. Cann't use DCL transport as our flight doesn't leave until 6:20pm. In the past this has cost us around $70+. I got an standard size (Ford Fusion) for $30.00 - no discount codes.

Seeing that was so reasonable - I tried the other way again with Budget. Originally, we were going to do DCL transport to the Port - so cost would be $70US.

Used a code I found on the DIS - Y937800 - Pickup at MCO 5:30pm Thursday and drop at Port on Saturday am. Full size (Ford Taurus) for $71US. - now we can get to Port when we want to - not on DCL's schedule.

Only thing left now to get is tickets for MNSSHP and Typhoon Lagoon.

DOH!!! I misread it was your daughter who was looking for dresses. Have your wife PM me and we can chat - I have a couple of good resources for nice dresses (and yes in plus sizes) - definetly the time to start getting them as sometimes they can take several weeks to get inl.

Thanks for the tip!:thumbsup2

There are 4 of us and we paid for the Disney transfers, but a car rental is looking pretty good right now! (Remember, the money saved on this trip, you can use towards your next trip! :cool1:)

But how do you get from the rental location at Cape Canaveral to the ship? Is Budget close to where the ship is docked? Do you know if other rental locations are close to the dock?

And, can I get my $$ back on the transfers? :)

Thanks again for the tip!

Dan

Budget has a shuttle to and from the Port. Their rental location is the closest to Port about 5 minutes down the road. There are a couple of others with shuttles as well. Mousesavers.com has a listing of them - we've used Budget and Avis before. I didn't bother looking at pricing of any of the others as this was a great deal. Looked on Orbitz yesterday and the pricing was double even for Budget than what I got going thru Budget.com and using this code. Just make sure you get a vehicle that has enough luggage space. For Budget the Port pickup location is known as CC5.

You can add or cancel transfers anytime upto about 4/5 days prior to sailing.

Not sure how they work the refund. Probably a credit back on your credit card.

hi all!

anyone know how cold it will be in the evenings on the boat?

also I checked with disney cruise lines and there will be trick or treating on the boat

We cruised in October 2 years ago and I just looked at my photos. As for the dining rooms, of the 6 women at our table, it looks like 2 had a little sweater on but the others wore either sleeveless or short sleeved tops. I do remember it being chillier on deck in the evenings - you might need a sweater then. And what has always surprised me most is how WINDY it is on the ship. I know it makes sense that a ship moving out on the open ocean would be windy but I just never thought about it until I was onboard. So the wind makes it cooler. Hope that helps!

Sorry it has taken me so long to post this infomration - but I kept forgetting to post it while I was at work.
