10/23/11 - Disney Dream

If you would use it primarily for cruising I don't think it's worth it. The best value is using it for the DVC resort stays.

From the 2013 point charts a 7 day on the Fantasy in Sept/Oct is 190 points per person for the first two in a category 7 balcony, additional guest in the room 13 and over is 127 points, plus a $95 fee. When booking with points it virtually impossible to switch cruises if something comes up. Only a certain number of cabins can be booked by DVC. Prior to 2013 opening all available 2012 cruises had been booked for months. I booked this cruise back in Feb 2010 and there was a lot of availability so I'm not sure if booking cruises with DVC has become more popular or if they have restricted the number of available rooms more.

I agree with TwinsFan. DVC makes sense if you like to vacation at DVC resorts and sometimes do something different. We booked this cruise back in the summer of 2010, and when my dad decided he wanted to join us in early 2011, he had a hard time getting a cabin on points (after many calls, he did). I do think the cruise is a decent value for my points (in an Ocean View), but there is a lot of debate about that. It's also been frustrating not to be able to deal with DCL directly (I have to go through DVC member services).

Okay, so we're officially packed! But....I have a question for you guys. My DD (who'll be celebrating her 5th birthday) wants to take all of her princess dresses on the cruise so she can take pictures with each princess wearing each dress. My question is if this is normally done? Of course I know that some girls do indeed bring one dress, but she wants to bring all 6 of them (Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Aurora, Tiana, and Rapunzel--although I told her I didn't think Rapunzel was on the ship).

Would we be looked at like we're crazy switching between gowns so she can take pictures with the princesses while wearing the matching gown?:goodvibes

I think that is one Heck of a goal. Heck go for it, There will be other photo ops with individual Princess Other then the one big showing.. So Its possible. Especially with a little body with so much energy.. Again a great goal..

Thanks for the reply.. So I will just avoid the DVC seminar this week,,

Many thanks for both your insights...

Mike

leaving for airport in 2 hours..a few days at Pop before we cruise...See ya all later

That's not that bad...when I took the NY bar exam we got the results at midnight on the night before Thanksgiving. Imagine knowing that you'll have to face your family for one of, if not THE biggest holiday of the year, right after getting the results (good thing I passed the 1st time around so Ionly had to go through that craziness once!)

Good Luck to you!

Thank you for the good luck wishes, I'll take all I can get! I can't imagine waiting until Thanksgiving, I'm already stressed out.

My Mom and I have been planning this vacation since I started law school and it's finally here! This is going to be the longest work day ever. :coffee: Flying out early Sunday morning, cruising til Thursday, then back for MNSSHP on Thursday night, and a day at each of the parks. Really excited about F&W, I've already checked out the menus and picked out my must-haves! See y'all Sunday! :mickeyjum

Ok you guys are really making this food festival sound very nice..

Can you tell how long this thing lasts, and what are the costs are...????

Do you have to get Special tickets for it...????

It's sept 30th till nov 13th at Epcot so if you get a pass to there it's included not sure on the price beth gets the tickets(Twinsfan) she might know or someone else on here.

There is no extra charge to attend the food & wine festival, unless you sign up for special tastings/cooking classes. You just use your regular WDW park pass to get it. Their are booths set up all along world showcase with each country offering small plates of food each dish runs from $2-$7. If you are on the DDP some qualify as snack credits. Hope this tidbit of info helps some. Here are a few photos of the Menus and Food items. http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/g1372-epcot-food-and-wine-festival-2011.html

I am planning on taking a solo trip next year so that I may enjoy it.

Safe travels to all!

We fly in the morning. We'll be at fishlips in the afternoon. Then port arrival time is 11AM on Sunday. I'm so excited to try Disney cruising and check out the Dream!

Food and Wine Fest at Epcot is a very yummy event. They do have some seminars that cost extra if you chose, all the food and wine is accesible with an Epcot admission. All the above mentioned items and more are availble from extra food booths set up all around the world showcase. Most items are small portions so you can try many things and I think most are $5 or less, so not real expensive. They also have concerts at the American Pavilion.

See you in Florida!

Sounds really nice.. will have to put that on the Agenda... Thanks

MORE important all have a safe trip..
