10/23/11 - Disney Dream

Linda, Yes we went on the Wonder in 2006. My oldest was 2 at the time and WE LOVED IT!!! This will be my youngest daughters first cruise, but her second time in disney. We are staying 3 extra nites at Disney World after the cruise :) Is your daughter in 1st grade now?

My daughter is in second grade and my son is in Kindergarten -- but at cruise time it will be another grade higher of course! They will have to miss school that week but at these ages i think it is doable...

Miss Fitts! I am so excited that your girls are the same ages as mine!!! We will have to get all the girls together so they know someone at the pool or in the kids club!

My girls will be thrilled! My oldest is in 2nd grade this year. She has loved Disney and RCL kids clubs. Last fall we were on the Epic and she spent the most time at the pool/slides. I imagine we will be in line for the Aqua Duck quite a bit. My youngest will turn 4 in August and is really into making friends with anyone her age. She will be very happy to have a "buddy!" :cool1:

We are also going to be spending a few days after the cruise at Disney (or Windsor Hills - not sure which one, we are still planning.)

That is awesome! My oldest is in 1st this year, and my youngest will be 4 in August too, the ninth! That will be perfect! I'm sure they will all love the kids club, who wouldn't! I'm sure we will be in line for the aquaduck too, too bad our youngest won't be able to ride. I keep hoping that maybe they can with and adult...

Hello Dream Cruisers,

I posted about a year ago when we booked this cruise, but the thread was slow then, now that the thread has picked up and this is our next cruise I'll be sure to check more often.

Cruising will be myself Beth, and SO Tom. We are in our mid 40's and have no kids. While we have cruise several times on many different lines, this will be our first Disney cruise. i am so excited to check out Disney cruising and the new ship!

We will be staying on the ship while in Nassau, hoping the line for the aquaduck will be shorter that day.

We are spending two nights at the Beach Club Villas after the cruise and going to the Food Wine Fest on Thursday and then Typhoon Lagoon on Friday, which is Tom's birthday. Then we will fly home Saturday. We haven't finalized our plans for pre-cruise yet. I would like to spend a day in Cocoa Beach so we can visit the Kennedy Space Center. We might fly into West Palm Beach to visit friends before the cruise.

Good morning folks

Thought I should start posting this is our next cruise I'll be with twinsfan

The youngest cruiser in this thread has arrived! DD was born Wednesday afternoon! (and keeping up with the current topic, yes, she will be bringing a Halloween costume.)

Congratulations on your new addition! She is beautiful and she looks great in those ears!

:welcome: to all of the people who have joined our group!

Good afternoon, DM and I have added the 3 day (10/27/11) to our B2B (10/30 & 11/3.) I did sign in over there, but noticed that most of the people on the 3 day were doing the 4 day before. So, thought I would check in here too. :flower3:

Hey PJ  It will be great seeing you & your Mom again. We will be on the 10/23 & 10/27.

That's terrible about the fire!

I'd love opinions about something. I've read that some of the aft staterooms on deck 5 are very noisy at night due to loud music from the evening entertainment. We're in room 5688. Based on 2nd hand info, would you try to move? Or wait until more reviews come in? Or just leave things be and see what happens?

Thanks,
Amanda

Good morning

Since this is my first cruise on Disney I do have a question is the Disney buses the best way to get from port canaveral to Disney we are staying at the Beach club villas after with DVC membership.

Can't wait for the cruise and the Food and wine festival afterwards:cool1:

Amanda, Based on pictures of the balcony of room 5188 I would move out of 5688, which looks to be the same as 5188 but on the other side. I don't think they should even classify these cabins as balconies. There is a picture posted on the aft balcony thread.

On all the cruises we have done, we just get a rental car from Budget. We pick it up at the airport, then drop it off at the port. Then they have a free shuttle that drops you off at the terminal. Then they pick us up and we keep the rental car for one day. That way we are able to stop by the gorcery store. We are also DVC members, so this is nice to be able to stock up on groceries.

Then we drop the car off at the Embassy Suites at Downtown Disney. It has worked out well. We just book it through Costco.com to get the added discount.

The biggest reason we like taking our own transportation to the port is so that we can get there as soon as we want. If you take the Disney bus I think it gets you there towards the middle of the afternoon. We enjoy getting there early and being in the terminal, waiting to board the ship. That helps make the experience even better. It's also a lot cheaper to do this than take the bus :).

Thanks for the info we are renting a car before the cruise we plan on flying into west palm beach to see friends then drive up to coco beach to see the space center.

If you don't need to make any stops and don't want to have a car to return, the DCL bus after a cruise to WDW is not a bad choice, depending on the number of people, 3 people or more and it is hard to turn down the savings of getting a rental car.

I think we are leaning towards the bus we are just getting a studio at the beach club so we won't be gtting any groceries this trip

I agree, my wife and I typically stay at AKL the night before the cruise. So, we just get the Magical Express to AKL and then the cruise bus to the port. I could get a rental car for $35/day vs the cruise bus for $35/person but, not having to worry about transportation (or being late) is worth the extra cost.

But, I agree if there are more of us in the party.....
