Robin and Mikey have a great time with your kiddos. Can't wait until my Madeline is old enough to go. I taught her the word Minnie Mouse this week. I brought Sarah's big stuffed Minnie out and now when she gets to her she feels her ears and says Minnie Moos

Robins got Cassie's old 3ft tall Figment puppet from the 80's that she's taking so she and Cassie can relive a few old memories.:rotfl:
i swear those girls will never grow up.:cutie::cutie:

Yes, his mom is a hoot. When I grow up, I want to be like her! :upsidedow She's never been to Disney though, so she has no idea what she's in for (with the characters walking around the ship) but we know she'll like the food and the private island!

Are you talking about Disney characters or the characters from THIS group? party:

Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!!!

First, HAPPY 4th of JULY WEEKEND!!

Now, I hope you don't mind that I ask a lot of questions but you all seem so knowledgeable about DCL.... feel free to throw things at your computer if I am too much of a bug...

I am starting at the beginning (I am a planner.... it has its good and bad parts) and I am looking to find a hotel for the night before the cruise not too far from the port. Preferably a Marriott (Courtyard, Residence Inn, etc) as we have points and can stay for free

Also, looking into either a renting a car for the drive over or potentially keeping our car in some pier parking lot. Has anyone ever done this?

Booking this so late, I feel so far behind the curve in prep!!

And, for the record, I finally made it over 10 posts :cheer2:

We've rented cars from both Avis and Budget. I like Avis better though....no hidden costs like at Budget. :rolleyes1 We rent the car from the airport in Orlando and return it to Avis in Cape Canaveral before the cruise. We then take the shuttle to the port. :thumbsup2

Melissa, ask all the questions you want. Someone here will have the answer. :flower3:

I finally read all 194 pages! I have a couple of questions:

First, it sounds like a few of you are DVC members. Do you pay cash for your cruises, use points, or rent your points for cash? When we originally booked our cruise for last March, we used points by banking and borrowing. When we had to cancel that one, it forced us to use the points in this current use year. I'm thinking we weren't too smart on that one.

Second, we are staying at the Country Inn the night before. I was able to get it for about $30 cheaper than the Residence Inn & Radisson. Are they all close to each other? Also, I've read about people buying a case of water to bring on board. Is there a grocery store or just a gas station nearby?

Finally, I hear all the talk about getting a #2 boarding pass. Who gets the #1's?

We always pay cash for our cruises. From what I can gather, it's not a wise use of points unless you've got extra laying around, which we never have. And then I think it would probably be better (of you can be bothered) to rent out your points and use the cash to pay for your cruise - that, of course, would solve the problem of points going into holding.

Finally, I hear all the talk about getting a #2 boarding pass. Who gets the #1's?

I think it's the Concierge and Platinum cruisers that get the #1 boarding passes.

Sorry, I didn't know the answer to your second question :confused3

Wow - you deserve some sort of prize! A smoothie, perhaps? :drinking1

I made a little Google Map of all the important places out in Port Canaveral, if you'd like to take a look. You should have no problem finding a case of water:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=206929541064865172370.000489cb75eacf4390773

If you zoom in really close on the Disney terminal, you will see either the Magic or the Wonder (not sure which).

If anybody wants me to add anything to the map, just let me know.

We're DVC owners (Saratoga) and used our points for this year's Dream and Magic cruises. I've rented points out before (to pay for our PC cruise in 2008) and it wasn't a bad experience it was more of worrying will they cancel and have to start over or not. So I prefer to use my points the way I want to use them.
