Hello everybody. I have had the worst week in a long time. It first started off I was in a car accident on Monday. I came out of it with a broken leg, 3 fractured ribs and a headache that will not stop. The accident happed because the other driver was texting and did not see me stopped at a stop light and hit me going at least 45 mph. Then on Thursday (right after I got out of the hospital) my childs pet cat that she adores came suddenly sick. We took it to the vet and he told us it was a mysterious illness and there was nothing they could do for it. My daughter is 3 and it is hard to get her to understand her kitty will not be sleeping with or playing with her anymore. We are still dealing with this issue. I do not know what to do. Soooo

I am finally here to do the countdown. I am sorry for the delay. I need the cruise even more now. :worship:

We have only

Hi folks

Sorry for gate crashing your thread but I've finally started planning for our hol and I need your help...

Which hotel do you all use by the port and roughly what was the cost? We're going to be there 2 nights so preferably somewhere with a nice pool and close to somewhere nice to eat (thats not fishy:crazy2:)

We fancied the Ron Jon but dont seem to be able to get a quote online:confused3- is it being refurbed or something? We need Oct 14-16 so any ideas are welcome.

thank you.. I miss you guys:grouphug:

Hiya Karen! :wave2:

We stayed at the Radisson at the Port last year - I believe it was around $110/night. They have a very nice pool and they have a free shuttle to the port. There are also some fast foods restaurants within walking distance.

I think that Mike & Robin stay at the Country Inn & Suites which I've heard good things about. I'm sure they'll will chime in. :thumbsup2

I wish you were cruising with us but I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time on the Dream. :cloud9:

hi Karen! we miss ya around here!:grouphug:

Kathys right! we stayed at Country INN for the BOB cruise. we salso stayed at the Raddison before the 2007 cruise. We really liked both places but really loved the sleep number beds at the Raddison.:cloud9: Raddison has a shuttle to the port too. Not sure about Country Inn. Country Inn had a free breakfast. (Robin was happy she got her oatmeal.)

Oh boy, I'm 2 for 2! I hope the questions don't get any harder :rolleyes1

I was just checking out the Radisson site and it looks like there's a deal for $108... even though it's not the cruise package do you still get the free shuttle??:confused3

Yes, but you have to make a reservation for the shuttle. There is usually some drama on cruise day because lots of people don't know this and just show up in the morning. The earliest shuttles fill up fast.

It's best to call the hotel directly and tell them you want to make a shuttle reservation. You might have to call a couple of times before you get someone that knows what they're doing.

Good luck!

We stayed at the Mariott for our 2007 cruise but it was further away from everything. Nice hotel though. Then in 2009 we stayed at The Residence Inn by Mariott and thought it was really really nice. Free breakfast was a bonus.

We drove our car back to Avis and hopped onto their shuttle to go to the ship because Kathy is absolutely right....those hotel shuttles are crazy!! :scared:

I believe we might give the Radisson a try again this time. We got a group rate last time that one of the other cruisers set up for us. She made arrangements with the hotel and pm'd us all a password for the discount.

Unfortunately, we bailed from the Radisson in 09' because of a breach in their credit card security. We ended up having to cancel our Disney Visa card that held the ressie and it caused huge confusion when we checked in to a Disney resort after the cruise. :scared1:

We were looking at possibly staying at port this time around, so this is good information. Thanks.

Looks like the price of the Radisson stays around the $100-$110. Do you mind me asking what people paid at the Country Inn or the Marriott? I do have some Marriott points though, so maybe I could get a free night and save some money. Did they have a shuttle to the terminal?

YIKES!!!! :scared1: Sorry for the wrong info. We actually stayed at the Residence Inn Cape Canaveral not the Country Inn. I edited my previous post and will let Karen know I goofed. :goodvibes

I was thinking Ron Jon. I heard that you can watch the ship sail by in the morning. I thought that would be cool. I'll have to look at those Oct dates and see if I can still do that. Otherwise Raddisson it is. I'll probably keep the rental car that we use for airport to port to take us to the ship. I think there's a place to drop off nearby.
