10/21/2014 5 Night Port Canaveral

I enjoyed that it was relaxing and I could do what I wanted, no stress. The ships are beautiful and I also liked just walking around discovering things, and 'bumping' into characters here and there. If you like casinos and more action oriented onboard activities than I would say you will be disappointed. Can't talk my friends into DCL because of this, they want rock climbing walls and ziplines, and the casino is a must for them. It really depends on what you are looking for from a cruise vacation. :)

I agree. The casino atmosphere is the furthest thing from our interests, and Disney NOT having a casino is a real plus for us. We also enjoy the no stress atmosphere with Disney music and subtle themes. We have not been on any of the huge ships that have the rock climbing and ziplines, but probably will try one of them some day just to see what they are like; but to be honest, the hugeness of those ships with the balconies overlooking the parks and shopping areas in the middle of the ship is somewhat of a turnoff. The Dream and Fantasy are almost too big for us. We really like the size and luxury of the Wonder (and I am sure the Magic, though this will be our first Magic cruise). We were on an older, smaller RCI ship one time but it was nothing like the Wonder in terms of the magnificent look or relaxing atmosphere.

So happy to be joining you! This will be our 4th Disney Cruise and 2nd time on the Magic! So hoping Sylvester is still at Palo's, our favorite server of all time. I am traveling with my adult DD and we will be celebrating her birthday.

Maggie_Sam (which one are you? :-)

My adult DD is also my travel buddy. My husband doesn't like to go anywhere, and does not go with us, but my daughter and I have been traveling together for many years. We started cruising in 2008 as a special treat when I retired. We love Disney, so we booked on the Wonder thinking it would be a once in a lifetime thing to do, but quickly discovered cruising was our favorite way to travel. This cruise will be our 7th Disney cruise and our first time on the Magic.

This past October, twenty of sailed the Dream and loved EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!
We're excited to meet new people, explore a new ship and FISH EXTENDERS!!!

I haven't see any mention of a FishExtender list being started for this cruise yet. If one is started, we will also be interested in participating in it.

I am the elder :). Not retired, have a few years yet. My husband passed away in 2007. Decided on the spur of the moment in 2010 to go on a Disney cruise, not expecting to like cruising. Sailed on the Wonder for Halloween and just loved the whole experience. This will be our 4th cruise, and second time on the Magic, but first since the refurbish. I checked out the rates to do the B2B from PR and I have been going back and forth all morning-I am so tempted. That would bring us to 5 and I have been aiming for gold. Have been keeping my fingers crossed that DCL comes back to NY in 2015. I look forward to meeting you!

Maggie (I am going to assume that the elder is the first listed :-)

I am sorry to hear about your husband. It is wonderful, though, that you can travel with your daughter. I know what you mean about wanting to become gold. We were going crazy wanting to book additional cruises so we could get to be gold. We achieved that status on our last cruise (on the Fantasy last May). It is cool not being silver anymore, but now there's the next hurdle to cross...becoming platinum! :-) We had it arranged so that we could be platinum in a couple of years, but stuff happened and we had to change a few plans. As it stands now, we will be at 7 after these b2b cruises. We hope to be able to fit another one in before Oct. 2014, but we'll have to see, I guess :-) I hope that when the new itineraries come out that they will give us more options on the West coast. They took away the series of Pacific coast cruises they had last year, and now there is one in the fall and one in the spring, with Panama Canal and Alaska the only other options. We went to Alaska in 2012 on the Wonder, and taking 14 days off is nearly impossible for my daughter, so the Panama Canal is not very likely. I don't understand why they don't have some 3 and 4 day cruises over here like they do on the east coast. It is difficult for us to get to the east coast very often because of the airfare. We can drive to the west coast, but it is not possible for us to drive to Florida :-)

We did a last minute almost-Halloween cruise on the Wonder to the Mexican Riviera in 2011. We decided at the last minute to go on that one, because the restricted guarantee prices were hard to pass up, and the cruise left out of Los Angeles, so it was easy for us to get there. Our cruise ended on Oct 30, but the ship had been decorated for Halloween for the whole month of October.

I look forward to meeting you and your daughter.

DUH! It took me a while to get it, both are me.

I will keep my fingers crossed that your plans work out! Platinum will be awesome. I know what you mean about the airfare, flying to Florida from NY is not cheap anymore, and it was wonderful sailing from NY Cruise Terminal last year, I really hope they come back.

Reading the posts about B2B inspired me to do it-so we are all set. Had to call DCL to help align everything, and we will be in the same stateroom for both. Have been checking out hotels and having lots of fun. :woohoo:

Maggie_Sam,
That's great that you will be on both cruises Maybe we'll both be platinum before too long:) I hope at least one of us gets our wish for cruises close to home too. That would be great! I hope someone will organize an FE for at least one of the cruises. I know we would be interested in one. Not sure about two, but for sure, one.

I would be happy to organize a Fish Extender unless someone else wants to do it? :)

Maggie,
Someone from the southern caribbean has started a FE for the repo cruise, but I'm not sure whether he has it connected to the southern as a combined fe for their b2b. I sent him a pm to get the particulars, and as soon as I hear back from him, I'll let everyone know what's up. I mentioned earlier that if there a a lot of cabins on the FE list for the three day repo, we wouldn't participate because 3 days is just too short to do a 20+ cabin FE (at least I think so). So, we might just want to start one for our 5 day bahamas cruise instead of the repo. I'll let everyone know when he gets back to me.

I checked his first post and the FE list appears to be for the Southern, but did not see anything for the 3 day Repo. I also noticed that he did not have the same hyperlinks and checked a few of his posts, he has some great links for FE 101, but didn't go through the whole thread. I will pass on doing FE for the 3 day, I agree with you re being too short. Plus for me, my DD is disabled, and I am traveling w/out another support person. With the wheelchair, walker, luggage, etc. just too much for me to manage. I would be interested in FE for this cruise though, and my offer is open to set it up for the group. I can ship my FE gifts to Port Canaveral, so won't have to deal with flying with an extra piece of luggage. pixiedust:

This will be our first B2B (and we will get to keep our same stateroom:-) and our 7th Disney Cruise but our first time sailing on the Magic. We will be sailing on the repo cruise from San Juan, Puerto Rico, immediately preceding this cruise, so we'll get to experience San Juan (first leg) and Key West (second leg), and a double dip Castaway Cay (combined legs), as well as a brand new Magic. We're very excited about this B2B trip.

Mary

That sounds like an amazing trip. If we get hooked (fully expecting too) I will look into b2b trips. What a great way to see other places on the same vaca.

Hi Lew,
I hope you do get booked. I just looked and there aren't any secret verandahs left on the repo cruise, but there is still one (6634-booked as CAT 7A) left at this particular moment in time :) on the 5 day Key West cruise. I don't know what kind of stateroom you were looking at, but the secret verandahs are a pretty good deal. On the Key West cruise it saves about $210 over the 5C Category and basically gives you a 5C for the price of a 9A. Just a thought FYI :)
Mary

Oops, I just looked back at some previous postings and discovered you are already booked on this cruise. It looked like you hadn't booked yet. I'm sure you are all set so you don't need my info :)

Maggie,
You have my vote :) It kind of looks to me like since there are so many people doing the b2b for the southern/repo cruises the person organizing it might be combining them. He hasn't gotten back to me, so I don't know for sure, but I think we'll pass on the 3-day, too, for the FE. I hope those who want to participate in the 5 day FE can all talk about a cutoff number for splitting the group(s), since 5 days is still not really all that long, but we are interested in the FE for the 5 day. Let me know whether you will be doing it for sure and I will send you our information. Thanks so much for offering to do this.

Mary

We are sailing on the Dream Sept 8th, so are in countdown mode! Are still waiting for stateroom assignment, rumor is they are coming around July 8th. First time on the Dream, so very excited to explore all it has to offer. I didn't want to wait to book this until onboard, but will probably try for a B2B to get us to Gold! :woohoo:

We changed our placeholder cruise to this cruise 10/21/14 after DCL moved the Magic to PC for Oct 2014.
We are also on the 9/8/13 Dream 4 night. This will be our 12th DCL cruise. We grabbed one of the 7A cabins for $599 per person. We are not GTY, we were assigned a cabin on deck 9 when we booked.

Hi Mary! Thanks! I will setup on the weekend, I have 2 FEs going for the September cruise and the GTYs all just got their room assignments, so I have to finish updating. I am very open to what the group wants to do in terms of FE, so if everyone wants to cutoff at 10 cabins and start a new group, I can setup that way, too early to tell. I do the FE a little differently, I use Google docs and will post the link, this way each person can enter their information. Margaret :)

When I booked the 9/8 it was not advertised as GTY, same rate as you, and I did have a stateroom assignment. But I added my oldest daughter 2 days later and even though it still wasn't saying GTY, the room assigned disappeared, and it showed GTY. What's interesting is that I just rec'd the room assignment, and it is the same as the original. Hard to understand why DCL does things sometimes. We are on 7 and I am happy with the location and room.

Please stop talking about a B2B cruise! I'm starting to check pricing now. ;)

Seriously, it is something I would love to add on, but I can't afford it. (Really!....well maybe)

We are booked in the 7a veranda on this cruise. Sounds like I can't get that for the B2B so we would have to change rooms. Not the best option, but now that the idea is in my head...

I am booked for a 7A and was able to get for the Repo, had to change the cabin assigned on the 5 night though. Won't talk about it anymore :rotfl: (Have you tried calling DCL, they may have 7A that is just not showing online)

I should have said, we are in one of the secret verandas that are classified 7a (7120). I think someone said those are gone for the repo cruise. However, I did look it up again. Maybe I'll wait until the last minute and book it if the rates are low. Just take whatever we can get. Flights to San Juan are not much different from DC than the MCO. We'll see what happens.

We also got a secret verandah room--the one on the opposite side of the ship from you (7620). The repo cruise is very tempting, but I know we'd want to spend some time in Puerto Rico first and that would be too much time away from school for DD. Some other time for sure!
