10/17 Wonder -- Are you sailing with us?!?

nope, the countdown is on eastern time! I certainly wouldn't want to wait an hour more than necessary!!! :Pinkbounc

My Countdown Clock is set for October 17 at 5pm Eastern Time.

I'm setting it for the scheduled time to leave the Port.

Here's the output from another Countdown program called 'Countdown 99' that breaks it down in more detail:

It is now Thursday 08/01/2002 at 2:09:47 PM
Event: Oct Cruise on Disney Wonder
Scheduled For 10/17/2002 05:00 PM
2 months 16 days 2 hours 50 minutes 13 seconds or
11 weekends or
77 days or
1,850 hours (1,233 waking hours) or
111,050 minutes or
6,663,012 seconds

I think my favorite is the 1,233 waking hours.

Just using my calculator, 77 days is only 21% of a year, which sounds much better, to me.

Al,

There is probably going to be more waking hours the closer the cruise date gets!!!

i think i set my countdown timer to be boarding time. Anyhow, we are on the downhill slide now!

Yup, I agree, it should have a sliding scale in there.

For me at least, the cruise does start at boarding time. We'll be staying at the Radisson the night before so we'll be able to be one of the first ones on board.

I just made my plane ressies so now I have more info on when I'll be arriving and where I'll be. We'll be flying in the night before and staying at the Hyatt at the Airport. Since it's just the two of us, we'll be taking a Disney bus to get to the port... We'll be on the first one, if I have anything to do with it! Hopefully we will be at the port by 11:30. Anyone else ever take one of the first buses from the airport so I can estimate the time of arrival at the port? I think I read that the buses start leaving the airport between 10:00 and 10:30. Is that right?
Ann

we were one of the first to be in the lobby of the Hyatt, so we got on the first bus. I think it left at something like 10:00 a.m or a little after. We were at the port in fifty minutes...first busload to get dropped off!!!

Great! Especially since we won't have antsy children with us, I'll be glad to get there early and be first in line! Got to get those Palo and spa appointments!

By the way, Prymsu, I just called my travel agent today (travelocity) to get the Disney transfers added onto my ressie and they told me that I can purchase them at the airport (or was it at the Hyatt???) and that I would get some info in the mail about where to meet and put luggage, etc. Was your experience similar???

no, I purchased our transfers through our TA. Not sure how you would purchase at the Hyatt. When we checked in for the bus, they looked for our names on a preprinted list...I would call DCL and see if you can maybe get them added. When we checked in, we got a letter only explaining the times to set out the luggage and the time for meeting in the lobby next morning.

I called DCL directly (Boy, do they give you a hard time when you call them instead of your TA???) and the lady said that the transfers were listed on my ressie already. So everything should be set to go! Yeah! I am tempted to add the countdown timer for this Oct. cruise but I'm afraid that my dh will notice it and find out before I want him too! I think I will surprise him when the travel docs arrive! Also, I ordered one of those countdown clocks too! I hate trying to figure how many days are left when I haven't posted in a while. Is there a way to get to your countdown timer without looking at the bottom of a post you have written???
Also, have any of you gotten the Disney Club 50.00 onboard credit? I am trying to decide if I should join the club or not. Would I get the credit even though my ressies have been made for a few weeks or doesn't that matter???
Thanks for your help!
Ann

Ann, not sure about the Disney Club credit. I know that you need to book on board to get a $200 credit on your next cruise...

Ashley24, I think you you should at least hint about it to your DH for the reason of getting time off work. Its easier to get a tooth pulled then it is for my spouse to get time off work. I'm sure he will he will eventually find out anyhow, you can't hide it for ever.:jester:

Mauibound1,
Are you moving to Maui??? Where do you live in Michigan??? My dh is hoping we can move there sometime in the near future. That is his life dream!
You are probably right about the "secret" though! Are you going on this cruise???
Ann

Well, the cruise is no longer a secret! Mauibound1 turned out to be my dh! He happened to use my computer one night and saw a reply from our thread on my email! What a snoop! Oh well! Now we can have fun planning together! I can never keep a secret from him! At least he's excited about it! By the way, when is everyone's final payment due? Mine is Monday which isn't quite the 60 day mark. Anybody else have to pay their balance early???
Ann

Ann.........oh, how funny! I had to go back and read your DH comment.....what a sneak:p ! How funny!!!!!!

Yes, there are a couple or three ways you can do this.
1. You can use the 'Disney Time' countdown timer. It is freeware and written by a fellow Disney addict. You can set one Disney Event at a time and it is an application on your desktop. You can double click on it to open it without being on the Internet. It has the added benefit of showing a small one liner of Disney Trivia while it is open. This is the easiest method, after you download and install it.

2. You can use a different countdown timer called 'Countdown 99'. It is also freeware and written by a commercial company. It will allow you to have 25 events at the same time. It has the added benefit of showing several lines of data about each event. It is the second easiest.

This is the output of Countdown 99:
It is now Wednesday 08/07/2002 at 11:06:13 PM
Event: Oct Cruise on Disney Wonder
Scheduled For 10/17/2002 05:00 PM
2 months 9 days 17 hours 53 minutes 47 seconds or
10 weekends or
71 days or
1,697 hours (1,131 waking hours) or
101,873 minutes or
6,112,426 seconds

3. The most involved but also the one with the most 'intrigue' with it. You can use the countdown timer from your signature on the Dis and make a 'local webpage' on your pc that just has the countdown in it. With this method, you make an icon on your desktop that is associated with your 'local webpage'. You also do not have to be connected to the Internet to use it.

I can help you (or anyone else) with any of the three methods you'd like to use.

For method 1, you go to a web address and download the file. Then you would unzip it and install it on your desktop. Here's the link: http://pscalculator.net/pswebtools.shtml#t001

For method 2, you go to the Contact Plus website and download the file and install it. Here's the link: http://www.contactplus.com/products/freestuff/count.htm

For method 3, I'll have to devise a detailed instruction sheet for you. Basically, you go to the site that the Dis made where you created the countdowna nd you create it again, changes are Ok. You follow the established produre up to the point where you select the lines and copy them. Instead of going to your profile area on the Dis, you create a new text document on your desktop. You copy the code into the new text document and then save it. You rename the text document to be an 'html' document (a local webpage) and then save it. You double click on the new icon and it will show your countdown.

If you'd like to try method 3 or you have problems with method 1 or 2, just email or send me aprivate message and I'll try to help.

Al,
Thanks for your help with the countdown timer! I am going to print your directions and then ask Dh when he gets home to help me. He works on computers all day and your explanations should be enough for him to successfully set it up for me!
Thanks again!
