10:15 WoC Preferred dining

I think I'm changing my WoC strategy to the middle show. I have an AG reservation for 7:40 (earliest I could get).

So, my questions for anyone who has done this are: what time did you line up after dinner and where?? I am thinking there will be less wait time this way as the first WoC will be starting at 9pm, right about the time we should be leaving AG. But where do we go from there to wait for the first WoC to end, and for everyone to leave, and to get our spot?

The only bad thing about this option is the lack of pre-show. So, I think I will try to do the picnic the first night in hopes of getting a railing spot. If we get a good view, I will cancel our dinner reservation for the next night. If we don't, we may bail and head over to DL for fireworks and then try our later dinner reservation.

I feel like I have a plan now. Guine pig phase 2 plan!

I think there are specific spots around the park (Hollywood back lot, GRR/Soarin area) where you need to line up depending on your color FP. We passed crowds being held back as we exited the first show.

That's my worry. We'll be right there, at AG. If we have to head back to GRR or something like that I'd be very annoyed. :) Our FP would be for preferred dining, not a color.

Has anyone done the 10:15 dining? Other than the canceled show mentioned in the other thread.

We did the AG dining package for the 10:15 pm show last Friday. It was a disaster (the dining part anyway). We too, had 7:40 ressies thinking that was plenty of time. It took us 50 minutes to get seated (they were running way behind) and 50 minutes to get our entrees (waitress "forgot" to turn our ticket into the kitchen:headache:). By the time we were finished paying the bill, we were personally escorted to the handicapped area to see the show - it was 10 pm at this point. We had one wheelchair and one scooter in our group of 4. We formed a second row behind the folks who had been waiting there for over an hour. I thought our seats were very good, not excellent, but I could see the show just fine. My advice would be to do the early show as you know you will be seated and served promptly and in line for the show. I don't know if our experience was rare or the norm, but we were not happy with the CM's at AG.

I am going to WCT and seeing the 9:00 show on July 23rd. I hope it goes much smoother.

All that said, the show is spectacular and I enjoyed it a lot. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the feedback Lulu. I'm now convinced there are no good options! It's just not acceptable to seat you nearly an hour late!

I'm wondering how the other people had been waiting for the show an hour when the prior show would have been running an hour earlier. That's what i'm not clear on -- how do they get the 9pm people out of there and the 10:15 people in.

not to say your wrong lulu, but i dont think there is anyway the people you were talking to were in their spots for the show for an hour, they may have been waiting for an hour but not in the spots, the show is about 25 minutes, so it would have ended at about 9:30, and the unload of the show probably would have taken 15-20 minutes, leaving the load in time for the 10:15 show to start around 9:45-9:50pm

to brenda:
i did the AG and WCT dining packages for the second shows, what you need to know is that they start lining up the preferred dining section at about 9:10-9:15 along the fence line facing the Pacific Wharf across from WCT. The only entrance point to get to the line is down by the entrance to WCT and the Bread/Tortilla factories, if you're at AG you can just walk down the bridge towards WCT and a CM will stop you but if you show him your preferred dining ticket for the show they will let you through, hope you enjoy your experience, i sure did :)

Yes, you are right about the time they were actually in the viewing area, the soonest they would be led down there would probably be 9:45ish. I should have said they were in the line to go to the viewing area an hour. It just felt like we were rushed in. But the good thing was we didn't have to stand very long before the show started. And we really did have a good view. And I have had good experiences at AG in the past - just not this time. And the manager did comp half of our meals. She seemd to understand the fiasco that was going on and we appreciated the gesture. We all agreed we would have rather had a stellar dining experience and paid full price though.

Brenda - don't stress too much. Go and enjoy the show. Make the best of it. :)

The key in Lulu's experience is that they were escorted into the accessible area. Without the accessible area access, everyone else was already in their sections when Lulu and family arrived (per above description). So - Brenda, if you were to stick to the same time schedule, you would enter the viewing area AFTER everyone else would lined up outside the area during the previous show.

I agree with the "don't stress too much" theory, but if you are trying to get in line toward the front, based on Lulu's description, I think you may want to move your PS forward if possible. Obviously I do not have the answers, I have not been since the first week. I was just basing my comments on Lulu's experience and your time schedule.

thanks Actor -- this is what I needed to know!

And Dreams, I'm not planning on having AG seat me 50 minutes late. LOL. I will be there early and hope for seating right away. We are fast eaters so if they provide reasonable service, we should be out of there by 9pm. (I tried to get 7:05 seating, but they are gone -- 7:40 was the earliest for the second show. they offered 6:30 for the first show -- talk about being late to the gate!)

I went ahead and ordered the picnic for our first full day there. I figure we can pick it up around 6 and then eat it while we wait around. Still not thrilled at the prospect of spending hours to see the show, but we'll give it a shot. Seeing WoC and Fantasmic at DL during peak season is a test in endurance and patience for sure!

If the picnic doesn't work out, I have a dinner reservation for the next night, for the 10:15 show.

After reading several sites it seems the picnic people are more pleased with their experience than the dining folks, so I'm hoping picnic is the way to go. Plus we'll get those cute bags. LOL.

Just get a full day in with an early start and you'll be happy to pass out in line waiting for WOC. Lol. Really it's kind of like the old timey standing in line for concert tickets thing. You meet fellow disney junkies and the time passes really quickly. I did kind of sleep a little while husband was entertained by some amazingly intelligent tiny Disney fans. My asian meal was very good-- great value. Husband didn't like his chicken much but really liked the potato salad and apple pie.

Ah, yes,the good old days! :lmao: Spent a few nights waiting for concert tickets, so this should be a breeze, right! I do hope I meet some fellow Disney junkies as I'll need them to save my space for a bathroom break with DD!

We did the preferred dining at WCT last night at 7:10 for the 10:15 show. We were seated right away but service was very slow. We didn't get out of there until 9:00. We probably should have gotten in line right away but we went and checked out glow fest and then did a little shopping. We got in line around 9:45 and within minutes were walked into our area. We didn't get a railing view which I would highly recommend.

The area was not crowded at all, so that was nice, but I was disappointed that so many of the effects were low. It was definitely hard to see anything that wasn't up in the air.

The slow service for the dining option seems to be a problem. I'm not sure what disney will do to fix that, or if they'll even try. This is one of the reasons I don't like to do sit down dining and mostly do counter service. Paying top dollar for okay food that takes hours away from park time is not a good option for me. I'd rather eat counter service and hit some rides!
