10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

Our last cruise was 11 years ago. We had a very long flight delay and literally made it onto the ship just in time to run for our life jackets and get to the drill. I am just looking forward to a much more relaxing entrance this time:laughing:

That was us last time too. Delay at customs and literally running with shoes in hand after going through security. :scared1: We were so late boarding the ship there wasn't even a photographer to capture the moment. :sad2: This time I am flying in a day early (well, two days early!). I felt that I had missed something :confused3 besides lunch :rotfl2:

The only thing that will delay us for the drill this time is the meet - I imagine we will be so pumped up and chatty we won't want to leave for the drill :lmao:

I picked up a gold cheerleader pom-pom shaky thingy (forgive my made-up words) :cheer2: from the dollar store for the sale away party. There was only one gold one so I will check a few more stores to get one for my bff Heather. She probably won't want one. She's like my DH - patiently standing by while I embarrass myself :rotfl:

Well now don't get too carried away there. I used to absolutely love love love the movie Ladyhawke, with Michelle Pfieffer, Rutger Hauer and Matthew Broderick, then I watched it again, the movie itself is fine, but the music! Oh.My.God it's such bad 80'2 music :lmao:. Honestly, if they retracked it with something a little less dated, and then re-released it that would be great.

Now you've done it! I have to dust off my vcr and watch Ladyhawke again - sheesh!

If you are a Lion King fan (and who isn't?!:)) you must watch Lion King 1 1/2. It's the same story told from Timon and Pumbaa's point of view - how they met, other background stuff. It's pretty funny.

We've got it, DH loves collecting the Disney cartoons so we picked it up when it came out. Especially since Jillian loves the first one so much. I thought it was really funny, and of course DS who was like 3 thought it was hilarious!

I have an Alexis also! She is pretty outgoing. Loves to dance, read, do art and is a Brownie/Girl Scout. She is 9 and mature for her age. Sounds like they have a lot in common. They should have fun.

Do you want me to PM an e-mail for my Alexis so the girls can write to each other as well before the cruise? I told Alexis before school this morning about her and Jillian e-mailing ahead of time and she was super excited!

I have an Alyssa.. she's 8, does dance, gymnastics and cheer. Not so outgoing.. very shy.. but silly once she gets to know someone. Funny how many girls with A's...

I got your e-mail, I'll have Jillian send her something tonight, she'll like having someone to talk to about the cruise!!

That would be great. Alexis would love it! My Alexis doesn't have her own email, but she can use mine. Jennifer, please feel free to give my email to Jillian if she would like to email my Alexis also. Thanks!:goodvibes:goodvibes

It sounds like all of our girls have a lot in common. They should have a great time.:)

I don't know much about the tea with Wendy except to go to Guest services...where everyone else will be and get tickets for it. From what I understand it is on the two days we are out at sea. Okim and Mikey...I have no idea!

And if you go to guest services and they have run out of tickets ask to be wait listed. Sometimes folks get tickets and then turn them in later.

Okay so we're not going to the Bahamas but I just thought I'd throw this out there :stir: :drinking1

Bahama Mama

1/2 oz white rum

1/2 oz meyers rum

1/2 oz creme de banana

1/2 oz malibu rum

2 oz oj

2 oz pineapple juice

dash of grenadine (although I dont think missing this will do any damage)

Ahhh yes! One of my favorite drinks! If you haven't figured it out by now, I very much enjoy the tropical drinks and am usually very happy with the drink of the day!

Yes, this is an adult's only tea at Palo. So there's an upcharge for it (I think it's $15 for high tea?) and you get the tea plus all of the trappings of a traditional English tea.
What day is it.. Cause that would be kind of fun!! I wanted to do Brunch but did not get reservations. one of the down falls of being first time cruisers.

Sgroppino (Lemon drink)

This is the lemon drink served at the end of dinner at Palo.

1.5 oz Absolut Vodka
2 oz Sparkling Wine (prosecco)
4 scoops Lemon Sherbert

Mix all ingredients together.

I think I might just have to (have to because I AM twisting my arm) try this one.

The lemon drink at Palo is awesome!!!!! Their Lime Sorbet that they serve at dinner as a palate cleanser is also awesome. We talked Liam (our head server last year) into bringing us a big bunch of it one night for dessert we loved it so much!

I'll do yours too, she probably won't get one sent out tonight, but I'll be sure and have her send on this weekend!

Now that you've got more than 10 posts, PM me with your e-mail address and cabin number for the FE, and if you want I'll pass it on to Jillian as well. :cutie:

Apropos and tasty, too:
Hurricane, New Orleans Style
1 oz white rum
1 oz Jamaican dark rum
1 oz Bacardi® 151 rum
3 oz orange juice
3 oz unsweetened pineapple juice
1/2 oz grenadine syrup
crushed ice

Combine all ingredients, mix well (shake or stir). Pour over crushed ice in hurricane glass. Best enjoyed through a small straw. Garnish with fruit wedge if desired.

Natalie is 2yrs old, is it something I should even bother with (Tea with Wendy) and if so, hit guest service as a priority once I get on the ship? My best friend Amy has a daughter 7yrs old..would it be something she should do?

And yes, Okim and Mikey were our server and assistant server on our Med cruise, we loved them! We actually got a picture of our family with Okim and Mikey, plus Raphael who was our Server on our Halloween cruise in 2008 (our assistant server Daniel went to the Dream), plus Brendan who was our server on our very first Magic cruise back in 2006! We saw Brendan coming into our first dinner, and he remembered us which just floored me! Either they have fantastic memories, or Disney does really good intelligence for those servers who've been with the company a long time to remind them of past cruisers :confused3, either way, it's really nice.

I found a thread about excellent CMs on the Magic; it's exciting to think of the excellent service we will get in just 50-something days!
