10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

I didn't know what Duffy was either...:rotfl2:

Thanks for asking!

Wow...these people know so much more than I do...I'm so a newby! I was so excited to play Who wants to be a Mousecateer (sp) on the ship..and now I'm not so sure...:rolleyes1

Renee

I think you should play anyway! :thumbsup2 It will be fun. I don't know a lot of Disney trivia and this is only my second Disney cruise but I have to admit Disney is my guilty pleasure. I just don't retain a lot of information :confused3 unless it's one of the movies that I have watched 6 million times.:rotfl:

I think Duffy is new - I picked up my bear last October at Epcot. They were also selling them at my resort - POFQ. I tried to copy and paste a picture from google but it didn't work. I just :lovestruc love all the mickey markings on him.

Lynn

Cute Lynn! I can't wait to see Duffy.
I'll still play the game on the ship.

I grew up in Florida and went ALL the time to Disney (so you would think I'd know something about Disney). I was there the first time it opened in 1971! I was two and of course I don't remember it, but my parents sure do. Back then they had the Mickey Mouse review show...we were in the front row and when Mickey came out I couldn't breathe and was pointing to him trying to say "it's Mickey Mouse!" :-)

A tip for all of those cruisers who want to play the games/get picked to participate...

Be Enthusiastic! I did some quick checking last night, and we're nowhere near sold out on our cruise, so I think we'll have a smaller group. Get to know the cruise staff, I don't think David's there any more, last I heard he was going shoreside to start a family, but talk to folks, and then when it comes time for them to pick the players, they'll recognize you. We had a cruise where Jillian or Ryan got picked for almost everything because she'd jump up and down and scream at the top of her lungs when they were looking for people.

They like folks who are happy and join in, and look for ways to include them, so that's my tip for the day.

Oh, and we actually won Who Wants to be a Mousketeer on 2 different cruises:cutie: I probably won't let Jillian play again, but I'll sure go watch, it's fun to see!

Ooh, thanks for the advice, I think DF is looking to participate in some stuff. And he always enjoys talking to the crew, so I'm sure he'll get to know them really quick.

They always do a Match Your Mate on the first night, and look for a newlywed couple as one of the constestant couples. You could win spa treatments, champagne, all kinds of things, if you want to participate in stuff, that's a great one to start with! I'll be watching (my mate won't be on this cruise) and will cheer for you guys if you want to play!

Sonia,

We could certainly make that a meet, we'd just have to pick which one we were going to meet at, they have Mousketeer a couple of times through the cruise.

That does sound fun! Count us in! So, we have to wait and see our Navigator before we plan this?

After seeing all the umbrella drink recipes and the affirmative responses, I was thinking it might be nice to have a meet at one of the bars. I know the Tropic of Cancer doesn't count much for "crossing the line," but it should happen between Sunday night and Monday. Maybe we could show our respects to King Neptune and his court by sharing some camaraderie and colorful, fruity drinks on Sunday night? Does the captain announce when we cross?

Hey...how did you find out that our cruise wasn't that full? That is great! I need duct tape...I almost said some thing about the cruise in front of the kids the other day. Also, I bought so many things for our FE that I am having a hard time finding a place to hide them. :yay:

How many days left??? I'm afraid to ask! I'm SO ready!

We can try, as far as I know though he doesn't announce anything when we cross any areas. I know they announce that you can see Cuba as we're pulling around it, but other than that I don't remember any announcements.

I just checked the Disney cruise site and saw that all categories still have cabins available. Usually, this close to the cruise there are only verandah cabins available since they are the last to get booked. So I can't guarantee it's sailing light, but that's my feeling, and the prices still aren't outrageous, which they would be if we were closer to full.

So have you figured out how you're going to surprise the kids yet? 6 weeks to go!

I'm sure DF and I were going to catch the games once while on board, so I will just have to play it by ear and see if we can all arrange a meet.
DF keeps asking me, "So, have you signed us up for anything else or scheduled us for any more meets?" :rotfl: Thankfully, he's just the type of person that is okay with being told where to go and when to be there.

Sounds like a plan - we could use the wave phones or put it on a mesg board for all of us to look at. We could cheer :cheer2: on one of our families!!

:woohoo: GOING TO THE CHAPEL !!!! HOW MANY DAYS - 3 :woohoo: :bride:

I'm thinking about a scavenger hunt...but first we have magic elves (www.elf-magic.com) that come for Thanksgiving (stay until Christmas)...they create mischief during the night. My thought was to cover there room with yarn and then have a note attached to them that Santa brought Christmas early this year, but you have to go and find it! At the end have my small Christmas tree with four presents. Inside the presents are their T-shirts with the cruise ship, our names and the date of our cruise. Then put the itinerary inside so they will know where we are going. It will be the morning before the cruise (I guess I'll try and get my son to bed early (right!) while we pack the van). We will leave that morning and travel to Tampa to stay with my brother and then drive over Saturday morning. If anyone has any better ideas...I'm game!

Can't wait to start sorting all my goodies for the FE! I can start tomorrow right????

Renee

Yep, yep, 3 days. I've got family under foot right now, so I'm using the DISboards as an excuse to get away for a few. :lmao:

That sounds fun! I like that you'll already have the van packed and ready to go and all they have to do is get ready to go! I'm sure your kids' reactions to opening the present and seeing the news will be priceless.
I could never do something like that, because I can't keep a secret to save my life.

How do we communicate once we are onboard? I have decided not to do the FE because, not that the rest of you aren't busy, but I am working full time and going to school for my MBA full time, so I feel like I don't have the time or energy to get creative with that right now. With that being said, should I get a white board for the door or can I share our stateroom # with someone to be kept in the loop. Or will we just communicate at our Saturday 3pm meet? Sorry - the meet stuff is new to me! Thanks!

I'm perfectly willing to post stateroom numbers, then we could use the Wave Phones. Otherwise, I do have a whiteboard that I'm planning on bringing, just in case, and can put it outside on my door with a message. Of course, that'll mean eventually Disney will need to give me a stateroom number! :lmao:

The wave phones are new since 2008. Can you leave messages on them like a regular phone or do we still have stateroom phones that we can leave and pick up messages on?

I think it's yes to both. Also, the Wave Phones can text, so we could try that?
