10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

Ok- i got a question for all of you. This is my 1st cruise with the baby (18 months) but my 3rd with disney and i can't remember how much space there was. I have been reading the dis boards for cruising with babies but i am still undecided. Umbrella stroller or mid size stroller? I am thinking umbrella b/c of space but then i have to carry around a diaper bag filled with stuff. If i bring the mid size then i have the huge shopping basket under it for all our stuff and it will be better for when we are off the ship and in the parks. Thoughts?

:scared1: yikes - well I likes a good challenge pirate: Drink up me 'earties, yo ho

 :rotfl:

Hello from your friends over on the chatty 10/8/11 Eastern. :thumbsup2 You guys have some catching up to do. :lmao: We will take good care of the Magic for you. :cool1: I was on the 10/16/10 Western last year and had a great time and the weather was awesome. We will miss Key West and hitting all 3 Margaritavilles. Remember on the Western it is always 5 o'clock somewhere. :lmao::rotfl2: Have a great time.

Don't miss sunset on Key West.

I'm sorry I forgot are you flying down or driving...if flying are you renting a vehicle? i'd bring the big one for the parks like you said, but leave in the vehicle while on board the ship use the umbrella stroller on board and leave in vehicle once in the parks....

So this morning I was sending in some of my magnet photos to wally world so I can finish up on some FE's. Would not be done in an hour - okay no biggie, I get there and they tell me that I needed an authorization because of copyrights :headache::confused3....ummm our friend Jordak made these and i am not getting an authorization - so you can now just throw them out:mad: , I don't think he did - I turned and left him looking at them. I bet he keeps them because they were just so dern beautifullllllll

So back to finding another place for the photo's

I'd just go to Sam's or somewhere that has a kiosk where you can do it yourself. Put them on a thumb drive and plug it in. Easy as pie!

I'd got with the umbrella, bring a backpack for the stuff and make DH carry it! :lmao:

Honestly, I'd be running really light on supplies, what kind of excursions are you doing again? Maybe just some water and a couple of tubs of fruit loops to keep munchkin happy until you're back on the boat. Of course add in diapers and wipes, but I'd just bring a onesy or somethat as backup outfits in case of a blowout, smaller and lighter.

Awesome pictures! Key West is my Palo night (Thanks Lynn!!!!!!! :lovestruc) but it's late enough that I should be able to see the sunset with DD!

I was posting on another thread about the Magic and there was someone who was on the cruise before you. I said she should leave little notes around the ship to see if they last until we're on there, you guys should do the same thing! Maybe we'll start a DISmeet scavenger hunt, see if we can keep the crew from finding them they're so darn efficient!

By all means, the more the merrier! I'm happy we have Tartantinker in our group, can't wait to meet her, and Jillian (DD) is excited to meet her daughters too!

oh THATS EVEN BETTER! :lmao:

We aren't doing any ship excursions, just diving. What are you interested in doing? When we went to Key West the first time, we did a glass bottom boat (not through Disney) and the second time went to the butterfly museum and the southernmost point. I'd say that's an easy one because it sounds like you've been there before.

Cayman and Cozumel, it depends on what you want to do, you can just to a beach day, either through DCL or on your own, or do some sightseeing. I'd say if you're going to go to ruins that are on the mainland, I'd go through Disney, just for the safety factor.

Castaway Cay, BEACH DAY!!! Maybe rent some bikes, hit Serenity Bay, keep it easy.

We're also thinking that we might do MNSSHP on the 10th, just depends on what we're doing that day. I'll keep you posted if we do. :)

I think we might be taking a trolley tour... But we're keeping it short because our PALO dinner is scheduled that night. I'm also thinking about the ruins and yes we are gonna do it through disney.

I already have a costume in mind. But i still havent bought it. Keep me posted!

I will, it would be fun to have a "pre-cruise" meet! We're not doing costumes this year, it's going to be enough to lug along my fins and mask, my husbands BC and regs, wetsuit, fins and mask, Jillian's wetsuit, fins and mask, and Ryan's fins and mask to do our snorkeling, plus what we need for the cruise regularly (dresses and nice sandals for dinners)!

So, no costumes, but that's OK, we'll just go as psychopaths, they look just like everyone else!:scared1: (OK, I don't think the Addam's Family is Disney, but it's the best quote that fit )

Do you think it would look ok to come as Wendy Darling and Peter Pan for the pirate night? LOL. Coz we're thinking of just getting that and using them for both MNSSHP and the pirate night...:confused3

So I had to replace the chain on DS's (he says it's his sister's, not his, but it's his) electric scooter tonight. Finished up and my hands were black from the grease. So, since I was using WD-40 for lubricating the chain, I figured I'd test out that it gets grease off, and guess what? IT DOES! Nice clean hands! :cool1:

So Hans, you're an uber planner, what kinds of things have you planned for the cruise? I know you'd mentioned your excursions, but what on the boat don't you want to miss?

I am looking forward to the Disney Dreams show; although I am sad and wish that we would get to see the Golden Mickeys instead. Also, I can't wait to see what recent movies they will be playing aboard. Right now it looks like the most likely candidate will be The Lion King in its 3-D release.

I would love to be able to do an animation lesson, or be humbled at a Disney Trivia contest. Other seminars I will be trying to fit in the itinerary are some of the Art of Entertaining, the shopping guides, and anything about cooking. My wife will kill me if I get her involved in any of the Know Your Mate shows, so that is struck off the list...

I hope to meet the captain at his reception or a seminar. As a geek, I am very interested in the workings of the ship and I will look for any tour or activity that takes me behind the scenes.

We will be looking for a wine or beer tasting or mixology seminar. It probably won't help me any, as when it comes to choosing wine I will still probably choose the Fess Parker because it is Disney related and comes with a coon-skin cap :)

Although the thought of an art auction and some Disney art thrills me, the bad reputation that the auctioneers of the past (and the expense of buying art on my vacation) will probably keep me away.

We are hoping to have both a pirate costume and a Halloween costume, in case their is a costume party. I am definitely looking forward to the pirate party! Arrgh! pirate:

How about you? What do the veteran cruisers look forward to? Will I have enough free time for some Cribbage in Diversions? Will I have to bring my own board?
