10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

I know!!!!

I have to print out the roll call and get busy remembering names. I'm so bad about it and I don't want to mess it up, so, everyone, you'll have to forgive me if I have to ask you your name like 15 times before I remember it! I'll probably remember your DIS name before your real one! :rotfl:

I am terrible with names too! :confused3 and I have to learn two names - the Dis name and the real name and what spouse and children go with what, I mean whom!

I am great with faces tho' - I could probably pick you out of a line-up next year! :lmao: :cool1:

I am counting on a few clues to give some of you away - the UK people will have amazing accents, (although anyone from the USA has an accent as far as I can tell) the newlyweds will be glowing, :rolleyes1

I have just decided to bring a marker to write my name on my green wristband. I will bring it to the meet. Should I bring some "my name is..." sticky tags for the greet?

Soooooooooooooo excited! I want to paste in every bouncy thing onto my post - :yay: :woohoo: :lmao:  :cheer2: :rotfl:

My family isn't coming with me this time so I have to keep my excitement level down at home too. This board is the best way to share my excitement:banana:

I would love some pom poms too :cheer2:. Are they the kind on sticks? Whats the standard order - 1 for each hand? 1 per person? 1 of each colour?

It's funny at work really. We usually go to WDW, so I have pics of us there all around my desk. Anytime a new person gets hired, they introduce me and say if you ever want to go to Disney Word, ask her! I've really tried to tone down my excitement about the cruise, because I do feel bad for those who have never been to WDW or the like. But I am SOOOO excited!

That's too funny.
Alex's and my extended family used to (well, his still does) give us a hard time about going to WDW so often. When they heard we were doing a Disney Cruise for our honeymoon, they made some pretty snide comments. But, the more trips we take and the closer to the cruise we get, the more they ask us questions. I had a cousin message me on facebook the other day going, "I know I've picked on your Disney obsession...but now I want to go and need help planning it all out." :rotfl:

Oh my I'm just as awful with names - although Dan and I have made Design-A-Tees that say bride and groom and our names that we were planning on wearing to the ship. so thats one set of names you need not worry about hahaha:rotfl2:

That sounds cool! :thumbsup2 I hope Alex doesn't stumble upon this post, because he loves making tshirts to wear at Disney events.

I've gotten really good at remembering names from interning at elementary schools. But, I'm the type of person that has to put a face to a name. So, for the people that have their pictures in their signature and avatar, I'll probably learn and remember your name at the meet. Once, I meet everyone else, I'll be able to keep track of the rest of the names.

Alex and I are going to pass on the pom poms. Sorry we're passing up on the fun! :cheer2:

Can you send me the names that you have? I have put all the FE items in a Disney bag and want to put their names on them. It will make it easier to pass out.
Thanks!
Renee

P.S. So are you saying on the final list, there might not be some going--that you haven't heard from?

Also, what about BUGS...are they bad out there? Do we need to bring bug spray or????

I don't have the names on the FE list, but they're on the roll call in post #1. If I have time I'll update the FE list too, that will make it easier. Give me a week or so... :3dglasses

It was actually the roll call I was talking about as far as people, the original thread had some folks on it that haven't been back to post.

FUnny! My mom said to me last night-have you noticed people stop talking to you after about 10 minutes when you talk about your trip. Well they asked about it! I'm just telling them.

We did WDW for our Honeymoon and got some snide comments too. Especially when people asked what I wanted for gifts and I told them Disney gift cards. But I just take it all in stride---they just don't understand!

On a side note, My youngest son told me last night he wanted to be a jungle boat captain and to have a disney-fied house when he grows up :goodvibes

So 31 days till we set sail!:woohoo:

I don't know why or what cruise i was on , but i thought i remembered a time change so I went through navigators that I saw on the dis from March 2011 for Western. Looks like on Monday March 21st before bedtime they changed the clocks back one hour. And on Wedsnday March 23rd before bedtime they pushed them foward 1 hour.

We got matching DCL shirts for the 1st day with our names on them. I decided to do this because in the pictures from the 1st day on past cruises we all look like slobs.

i think its a great idea to put pics up of your family... this way we know who wer are looking for. Now if i only knew how. LOL

Isn't that you in your avatar picture? ;)

We'll "probably" be in for pom poms. I just need to ask Jim but he's gone on fire assignment. I found a few pics I can post of us and even of our friends, The Kebede family in my signature line. Do I need to use photobucket?

Or something like that, yes. You can put pictures in regular posts, you just need to copy the link to the picture and then use the little picture icon in the message editor to post it.

First timer question:

How do you get on the CC status? I'm guessing that CC is the Castaway Club. How does this work? Can you get on it after you have been on one cruise or during your first cruise?

Thanks for the help. If I tell Jeff we are booking another one while we are still paying for this one...he will die! :rotfl2: Sounds good to me. I'll have to see how my "teenager" likes it. I'm worried that he is not going to have fun. He is a loner and doesn't "go out there" and meet friends real well. I hope the excursions will brighten his day...the food he will love. Not many 15 year old boys in our group. He will probably stick close to me and his Dad.:headache: oh well....this is supposed to me a family thing for us...since we don't get much of that at home!

Renee

You also get 10% off the price of the cruise. So you can book the cheapest cabin on a 3 day that you can find, and put down the deposit, like Janet said it's 10% of the cruise price rather than 20%, and then you can move it to a date when you know you're going to cruise. Just set a reminder before 75 days out to move it further if you still haven't decided on a date before the date comes along. Oh, and I almost forgot, you get onboard credit too, it depends on your CC status (for your next 5 cruises you'll be silver) and how long of a cruise you book as to how much it is.

Took our 16 year old daughter in 2008. She had a blast!!! She made new friends and even did a teen excursion on Castaway Cay. Hopefully he will have a great time as well!

It's these little things that make life as a Disney addict bearable! dkfajr1 (how do you pronounce that?), you are obviously raising your kids right! :thumbsup2

You may have your son keep a lookout for Skipper Lou, who is working as a Youth Activities Counselor now, but spent some time on the muddy waters of the Jungle Cruise.

OKay, I edited our signature to add our pic, the kids pic and even a picture of our friends that are sailing with us. Although, only the picture of me & jim is showing up. How do I do our signature codes to show side by side pictures?? HALP! :)

Run the codes all together, don't put them on separate lines, if you put in a carriage return, the system assumes you want them on separate lines.

Once you're done with your first cruise you'll be a silver CC member. You can call DCL to get your CC number, if they forget to send you your number in the mail, we got ours like 6 months after we sailed the first time, competely out of the blue, but you can call them and get it pretty quickly after your cruise.

Then you can go into the Castaway Club link on the DCL page at the top and register, it's automatic!

Oh, and you son should go to the meet and greet for the Stack on the first day. It's the teen club on the Magic and it is on one of the smoke stacks, once the first day is over, adults aren't allowed. Even though it's hard to believe, there are lots of cruisers that cruise without getting on the DISboards, so he may have a lot of kids his age on the cruise. Here in CO, it's during out fall break, at least in Douglas County, so all of the schools are off, our last cruise in October we met folks who lived only about 3 miles from us on Castaway Cay!

Will do! You really can't pronounce the Dis name--kind of random letters--long story-LOL! Going to try to find a good pic of all of us and post

Thank you! Okay, so that is me & Jim in the first picture. In the picture of the kids, the light haired ones are mine and the dark haired ones are Bobby & Amy's! In the last photo is Amy & Bobby (Kebede). :thumbsup2

Okay now I'm mad! HAHA. Pictures all show up fine when I preview the signature. Yet, it won't fully load Amy's picture. Grr!

Very odd! It renders fine on a wider screen. I noticed the last picture was half cut off, but on my wider screen at work everything shows up fine. I guess it's just a quirk of the DISboard.

While you're on the cruise, book your next cruise, even if it's a dummy date, so that you can move it to the date you really want and retain the 10% discount and on-board credits. When we cruised in 2008, we booked another cruise for 2010, but then back it up a year and retained our 10%discount and $200 onboard credit. If you know you are going to cruise again, but aren't sure when, it's too good of a deal to pass up. You do have to pay a 10% refundable deposit but it is twice that (20%) for anyone booking while not onboard.

You also get 10% off the price of the cruise. So you can book the cheapest cabin on a 3 day that you can find, and put down the deposit, like Janet said it's 10% of the cruise price rather than 20%, and then you can move it to a date when you know you're going to cruise. Thanks for the info. This is definitely something to consider.:)
