10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

Oh, my! Was looking at first post and noticed I didn't give you our names! I'm Gina, DH is David and the kids are Tristan, Autumn, Ethan and Maegan. In the order of oldest to youngest with the last two the twins.

Can't wait to meet everyone and go on vacay! Everyone at work is getting tired of me talking about it I am sure;)

I was so excited when I found out at work we were upgraded. My co-workers looked at me like I had three heads. Thank goodness for this thread. I knew you would all understand my excitement. In all honestly it's hard to be too excited in front of co-workers who couldn't even afford a honeymoon etc. I don't want to rub it in, it is our second cruise in three years. So I get to share my excitement with all of you:yay: We are all very fortunate to be able to cruise!!

I'll get you updated, and as for talking about it, that's why we're here!!!

I am sorry Monica :upsidedow I cant seem to find any of my old navigators, but DH (Mike) said that we just stayed with the time on the ship. That way we always knew either way we would not be late. We just would confirm with the CM's as we walked off the ship what their current time was.

Sonia

Check out the FAQ stickey, there's a link to Navigators there, I'm pretty sure we stay on EST the whole cruise.

SWWEEEEEET!!!!! - oh wait i hope thats a good thing :scared1: :scared1: :lmao:

Yep, it's a good thing

I love Pixie Dust too, this cruise I haven't talked about much at work. Of course I'm pretty isolated now so don't really talk with them much about it at all, and since my DH and DS aren't going on this cruise I'm sharing most of my excitement with you guys!

It's funny at work really. We usually go to WDW, so I have pics of us there all around my desk. Anytime a new person gets hired, they introduce me and say if you ever want to go to Disney Word, ask her! I've really tried to tone down my excitement about the cruise, because I do feel bad for those who have never been to WDW or the like. But I am SOOOO excited!

OK, wristbands are ordered, they had an estimated tax and handling charge that added a bit to the bands, so they ended up being $1.13 per band total. I'm going to update the first post as well to let everyone know. It's getting sooooo close now! Of course, as soon as this cruise is done my husband won't have anything to call me crazy for!

You'll just have to plan another cruise:goodvibes. Thanks for taking care of this for all of us!

I'm in for two pom poms! And maybe some more, if you need me too! Great idea. The Florida Gators are playing Auburn that day...so I was going to bring my Gators shaker, but red, black and white will do! :cheer2:

Thanks!
Renee

It is casual, you can get pictures in front of a model of the ship as you check in or sometimes you can catch the Big Guy himself ::MickeyMo out there in front of the model and join the line for pictures. Then once they call your boarding # you make your way over to the entrance and thats where you can take a family photo. Then on to the Ship Wooohooooo:woohoo: No they no longer allow the streamers, but along those lines I did find some of those pom poms from Oriental trading and thought we could get them in red and black, or red, black and white. Anyone game on that we can order as a group like we did the lime green bands.

:surfweb: I just checked and looks like we can get 2 dozen for 15.00, which equals about .63 per pom pom. Last time I ordered it took them about 5 days to get the order to me. I have a free shipping coupon so that saves us there. :cheer2: :cheer2:

If it helps, DH and I are in our 20s, but we are on such an abnormal schedule. He works a 4:30am to 1:30pm shift at work, so we are usually up at 3 and in bed by 9pm. :rotfl: Yesterday, we felt so special, because we stayed up until 10pm and slept in until 7:30am.
So, even on vacation, I don't see us sleeping in too late. We'll probably catch a lot of the sunrises and be ready to leave the boat by 8.
I can sympathize, I work 11:30pm-7:30am. I will try to get onto a daytime schedule as quick as possible, but in general my body and brain don't really pay attention to day and night anymore :)

Put us down for 4, please.

Well my DIS name is my cat's name! It would be a little odd but there could be worse things!

What does booking a dummy date mean? How does it work?

While you're on the cruise, book your next cruise, even if it's a dummy date, so that you can move it to the date you really want and retain the 10% discount and on-board credits. When we cruised in 2008, we booked another cruise for 2010, but then back it up a year and retained our 10%discount and $200 onboard credit. If you know you are going to cruise again, but aren't sure when, it's too good of a deal to pass up. You do have to pay a 10% refundable deposit but it is twice that (20%) for anyone booking while not onboard.

You also get 10% off the price of the cruise. So you can book the cheapest cabin on a 3 day that you can find, and put down the deposit, like Janet said it's 10% of the cruise price rather than 20%, and then you can move it to a date when you know you're going to cruise. Just set a reminder before 75 days out to move it further if you still haven't decided on a date before the date comes along. Oh, and I almost forgot, you get onboard credit too, it depends on your CC status (for your next 5 cruises you'll be silver) and how long of a cruise you book as to how much it is.

Okay this dummy date thing is highly intriguing! So...it doesn't matter when you plan to sail? So 2 yrs, 3 yrs..?! And it's refundable??! Wow sounds too good to pass up!

It pretty much is, we've always booked another cruise on board, and then just moved the date if we weren't sure of when we were going to cruise! Now when we booked the Med cruise, it was 2 years in advance, and we knew what cruise we wanted then! :lmao:

I can't remember if I gave you our names or not.

DH Jeff, DW Renee, DS Tyler and DD Ashley

The Carr family

You did, I got them on the roll call. I do wonder how many of the other cruisers that are on the roll call (the ones that start at Cheerm) that were carryovers from the old thread but haven't ever joined in are lurking around?! I know barney1314 came back, but no one else has ever joined us. Anyone? Anyone??? :rolleyes1

Can you send me the names that you have? I have put all the FE items in a Disney bag and want to put their names on them. It will make it easier to pass out.
Thanks!
Renee

P.S. So are you saying on the final list, there might not be some going--that you haven't heard from?

Also, what about BUGS...are they bad out there? Do we need to bring bug spray or????
