10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

One thing I love about the Magic, is that it's small enough that you can get to know it well in 7 days. The main decks to explore are 3, 4, 5, 9 and 10, the others are stateroom decks unless you're looking for the Edge which is on 2, or the big bucket of Bonine outside the Medical station which is on 1. 6, 7, and 8 are also all cabin decks. Make sure you take a look around the running track, I didn't until my last cruise, and it's cool, it goes through some machinery in the bow and you can see just how big the anchor ropes are!

Since you are an experienced cruiser I have a question for you. Our luggage tags arrived with our old stateroom number, which makes sense because the packet is current as of 9/2/11 and our pixie dust upgrade occurred after that. I e-mailed my TA to ask if new luggage tags are on their way and she said no, I would just need to cross out the current room number and write in the new number. Does that sound right to you? It seems odd to me because with all the luggage they have to sort through, I would have thought they'd want them as accurate as possible. I'm sure there is even a significance of the color of the tags. I'm also hoping it doesn't delay our luggage arrival! Your thoughts?

Thanks!

Alex is really hoping to catch up on sleep during the cruise. He never manages to get enough, so whenever we go on vacation, he sleeps in almost everyday.

Thank you! Alex is the one who wanted to turn our rings into a Hidden Mickey.:rotfl:

Man, just when I think I've got the trip figured out, other little things pop up!

I 'm glad everyone said that we can dress casual, because I will be driving an hour in the car to get to port, so I was planning to just wear comfy clothes. I figured it'd be a pretty laid back afternoon, anyways, aside from dinner that night. I will probably be wearing shoes that I can walk around in, because I'll most likely want to explore the ship!:)

Didn't notice the hidden Mickey until somebody said something! That's great!!!

She's right, the color doesn't mean anything (mine are green too, always have been!). You can either just cross out the number and write the new one, or ask the porters for tags when you get to the port, they've got them there. Are you using DCL transportation from MCO? They've got tags at the DCL desk where you pick up the buses as well, any of those options and you're good.

Thanks for confirming! Not using Disney transportation so I'll just change the tags myself like my TA recommended.

OK, wristbands are ordered, they had an estimated tax and handling charge that added a bit to the bands, so they ended up being $1.13 per band total. I'm going to update the first post as well to let everyone know. It's getting sooooo close now! Of course, as soon as this cruise is done my husband won't have anything to call me crazy for!

What a great price on the bracelets! Thank you for arranging that! I can't wait to get the chance to wear them and meet everyone!

I know!!!!

I have to print out the roll call and get busy remembering names. I'm so bad about it and I don't want to mess it up, so, everyone, you'll have to forgive me if I have to ask you your name like 15 times before I remember it! I'll probably remember your DIS name before your real one! :rotfl:

I almost bought those cute name tags for our meet just so we can match our names :cutie:

Thats STILL a great price!!! You are awesome

When it gets closer we should try to post pictures, too. Ever since having kids my brain is out the window (just ask Jim)!

Here's another question for the experienced cruisers: what is the expected or generally accepted dress code for embarkation? I wasn't planning on dressing up, I think comfort might win the day but I wonder if we will want to look nice for the embarkation photos.

Also, is it like the old Love Boat episodes where we thrown crepe streamers off the decks? What kind of party favors might I bring along?

It is casual, you can get pictures in front of a model of the ship as you check in or sometimes you can catch the Big Guy himself ::MickeyMo out there in front of the model and join the line for pictures. Then once they call your boarding # you make your way over to the entrance and thats where you can take a family photo. Then on to the Ship Wooohooooo:woohoo: No they no longer allow the streamers, but along those lines I did find some of those pom poms from Oriental trading and thought we could get them in red and black, or red, black and white. Anyone game on that we can order as a group like we did the lime green bands.

:surfweb: I just checked and looks like we can get 2 dozen for 15.00, which equals about .63 per pom pom. Last time I ordered it took them about 5 days to get the order to me. I have a free shipping coupon so that saves us there. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Well my DIS name is my cat's name! It would be a little odd but there could be worse things!

Mine is in my signature, so at least you'll have an idea!

Did you make 7, one for each day? :lmao:

I'm very bad with names too, so is my husband. He'll yell to someone across the way, Hi Bob! And the person's name will actually be Jim. :lmao:

Oh, my! Was looking at first post and noticed I didn't give you our names! I'm Gina, DH is David and the kids are Tristan, Autumn, Ethan and Maegan. In the order of oldest to youngest with the last two the twins.

Can't wait to meet everyone and go on vacay! Everyone at work is getting tired of me talking about it I am sure;)

So long story short keep on keeping on - or come here and we'll share in the excitement with you!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Sonia :hippie:

OK, I have a question...please don't laugh

Do we stay on the same time zone? Is that stupid to ask??? :confused3

Basically, will we have to be changing the time on our clocks around too much during the cruise?

Thanks :)

I am sorry Monica :upsidedow I cant seem to find any of my old navigators, but DH (Mike) said that we just stayed with the time on the ship. That way we always knew either way we would not be late. We just would confirm with the CM's as we walked off the ship what their current time was.

Sonia
