10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

So, what is your opinion of the hair dryers? Some people say they're fine, while others say they can't get their hair dry with them.

I have shoulder length, baby fine hair, and I can dry mine at home in about 5 minutes (if that). I'd rather not have to drag mine along if the one in the room works ok. Other than it's location in the bathroom, will it due?

The blow dryers on the ship are extremely weak. I have very thick long hair though and it takes forever to blow dry anyway. You might be OK. Hard to say, I guess. If you don't get anymore feedback on this thread you may be able to search for other opinions on another thread.

I think the location is OK. I'm use to a vanity outside the bathroom at home so I guess that is why I prefer to blow dry in the room. I'm seriously considering letting it air dry for the cruise this time though!

New Questions for all you Repeats.

1) What one item did you wish you packed but didn't or can't live w/o.

2) For the boys who run around in thier gym shorts with no pockets.. what do you do for their key card? Lanyard?

3) How much to the kids normally spend at the arcade over the week. We were thinking about just placing a certain amount on their cards for smoothies and then buying them arcade game cards as needed.

Thanks..and boy it's getting close.. Time to start packing.

I always bring a flashlight! I put the batteries in backwards before I pack it so it doesn't get switched on accidently and I bring glo sticks which come in handy as a night light in the bathroom!

My guilty pleasure for vacation is trashy magazines - I like to read about celebrities and 600 lb babies from outer space. - lol:rotfl2:

I checked my mail yesterday and what did I find????.......

OMG our disney cruise packet   :cool1::woohoo::yay::woohoo::banana::cool1:

Who else...share the excitement!!!

I got mine too :cheer2: but it doesn't say anything about Key West :confused3 I will just assume it was an oversight.

I am torn about staying late at Key West - it's my Palo night. If I had to make a choice I don't know what I would do :confused3 :cool1:

We have the same hair :sad2:

If you have lots of things to plug in: battery charger, mp3 player, etc you might want to bring along a power bar. You can get flat ones that plug directly into the outlet that will hold 6 cords.

The outlets aren't that helpful. There's only 2 that aren't taken up and they're a little bit indented by the light switches on the desk. You're better off bringing a power strip with a standard plug that puts the extra outlets down on the desk.

On a side note, I'm somewhat bummed, we may not be able to do our scuba diving in Key West. We went to NC last weekend and went on a 2:30 dive trip, figured we'd get back between 6 or 6:30, nope, we didn't leave until 4:00 and didn't get back until 8:00! :scared1:

With an all aboard time of 7:30, there's no way that works. There's a dive show here in 2 weeks, so I'll be looking for Key West dive shops to see what they say. We may end up changing plans and diving in Cozumel and Cayman instead. :rolleyes1

Did you already order the wristbands? If not, we'll take four.

1. I wish I had packed a clock. The clocks in the rooms aren't lighted (unless they've changed to the iPod docks) and are across the room on the desk. With the curtain closed the folks in the bed can't even see it.

I was reading earlier that there were no clocks at all while the Magic was transitioning from the propeller-clock to the iPod alarm clock. I am not sure if the new clocks have arrived yet, so a travel clock might be essential!

But...we're on a cruise...does time matter!! haha I guess I'm OK because I wear a watch and I'd like to go to bed and wake up at my leisure!!

I haven't, and I'll be happy to put you down for 4!

I wear a watch too, but it can get super dark at night, so unless it's lighted, and the $10 watch that I bought in Vegas isn't that fancy, you won't be able to see a thing! Then again, my clock at home isn't lit either. Do I really want to be able to see if I can't sleep?

So, fantastic news all you wristbanders! Caley's family order puts us over the magical 50 wristband threshhold, so we're now standing at $.97/wristband! I'll be placing the order on Sunday, so any last minute folks who are interested, just let me know!

WOW that is awesome!!!

I agree with those that said the water is just fine on the ship or even better. You if you still want to bring water on board and not overload your self, you can always bring water or alcohol back on board from our port of calls

Yay :woohoo: I thought I saw it - i'll double check

That's excellent!

I never thought about how dark the room would be. Since Alex and I are in an inside stateroom, I'm sure it'll be pitch black. I'm thinking I might just bring a mini flashlight for us to use if we need to get up in the middle of the night.

Great! Thanks! Can you please change our cabin number on the first page to 8058? Thanks, Janet

I think that the hair dryer in the bathroom has the night light built into it like most hotels have. I'm not 100% sure, but I think so!

I've got you updated, Janet, I knew I'd missed at least 1 with the rapid discussions going on here this week!

:woohoo:

We're getting so close, I guess it's time to start staging for the trip!
