Loved Survivor last night too. Hope that Stephenie does well this time and Bobby Jon too. Wasn't too surprised when Jim got voted off though.

Also watched what I presumed to be the first show in the series but don't know what it was called because I didn't watch it right from the beginning. It was about a group of friends in 1986 just graduating from high school. It's in flashbacks I guess cause part of it is talking to one of them in the present about what happened. Someone is murdered and this is the investigation 20 years later. Did anyone else watch this?

Back to work. Thankfully it's Friday!

Why was Jim voted off? Couldn't he find his tie? Or did he smuggle Hamburger Helper onto the set? :rotfl2:

Edition #22 is in your mailboxes - Check it out :wave2:

Fiona, it's called Reunion. Not much into TV...there are a few shows I like, but for the most part, don't watch a whole lot. One of my neighbor's likes that show though. Usually, when I sit down to watch TV, I end up falling asleep. zzzzzzzzzzzz..............

Probably no appearance on the thread for us tomorrow: We'll be in Wisebaden for the Dragonboat Race for the whole day :boat: - Strike the sail and give the Smiley a paddle :rotfl2:

Kim -- Oh my gosh! What a terrible experience! I can't even imagine how much your fall "up" must have hurt. Sending TONS of pixie dust your way. I thought Jim gave you some really good suggestions about wheelchair accessories.

I am a big Survivor fan too, and last night was amazing. I just could not believe that all of those guys on that team were overcome by dehydration. Poor Bobby Jon -- he just can't win. It didn't seem that they were moving much faster than Stephanie's team since the teams were so close at the end, and yet no one on Steph's team got that sick. It sure wasn't hard to figure out who was going to get voted off when Jim turned up with his homemade sling. (Now I need to learn the names of the teams.)

Hi everyone. Eric added my friends and I to your list this afternoon. We are looking forward to cruising with all of you. My first cruise will be on the Wonder on 11/6/05 (4 day). However, my friends have never cruised before and I certainly will not be a veteran before the 10/14/06 cruise.

Thanks for including all of us!

WELCOME NWRIGHT AND FRIENDS!

Where is Rochester Hills near? My sister lives in Adrian and my SIL lives near Detroit!

Rochester Hills is a suburb of Detroit -- about 30 miles north -- in Oakland County, east of Pontiac and about 30 miles south of Flint. The people cruising with me are Jim & Sheila who live in Oakland Township (about 8 miles north of me) and Donna who currently resides in Fremont, Indiana. We can hardly wait!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

What is the new twist?

That 2 previous survivors were brought back from last season. Bobby Jo and Stephanie and each put on a different team.

Hi Nanci,
I'm glad you found your way to the thread :wave2: I'll add your DIS-name with the next update.

We're back from a very exhausting day on the waters of the Rhine. We had to do four heats in the 250meters and one over 1000meters. between the heats we chatted, read , ate, drank, etc. We had a CoolKeg: A 20liter-keg of beer (5 gallons) as large as a 40liter-keg but with a twist. It is basically two kegs in one. The small one contains beer and between the outer and inner keg there is a chemical agent. When you activate that chemical agent it cools down the beer to about 40°F and keeps it cool for at least 12 hours. As I don't mix sports and beer I didn't have any, but those of us who do were excited to have a cool brew.
In the races we won a lot - a lot of experience ;) Most of the teams are dragonboat-teams, who do nothing else through the summer, wheras our team is a mix of all our company's sportsteams: Volleyball, running, soccer, badminton, swimming, etc. Nevertheless we ahd a lot of fun and are looking forward to tomorrow's races.
But before driving over to Wiesbaden Anja and I will cast our vote for our Federal Election.

Welcome Nwright and friends! So glad to have you aBoard!!!!!

Welcome aboard Nanci and friends! :cheer2: :cheer2: It's interesting to see so many Midwesterners joining our group on this cruise. Not too many last October. Altho I guess maybe Michigan isn't considered Midwest, but Indiana sure is! We are Illinois born and bred, but we transplanted ourselves to the South quite a few years ago. Home is still Chicagoland to us even tho we haven't been back forever. This is a great group, and you will have a wonderful time on the cruise with all your new DIS friends.

Welcome Nanci and friends!! Just jump right in.

Michele - laughed about your post -- Jim will tell you that I quite often fall asleep while watching TV. I can't tell you the number of endings to programs that I've missed. :rotfl:

I don't fall asleep during Survivor or Amazing Race though. Anything else is fair game!

Finally made adr's for our Dec trip. The night of MVMCP we are eating at O'Hanas -- we both really like this restaurant and we aren't eating here in October as we wanted to try new restaurants on the dining plan so that was easy. I also booked the Candlelight Processional dinner package on my actual birthday at Rose and Crown. Haven't eaten there but hopefully it will be good. I wanted to see Jim Caviezel (spelling is probably wrong) and he's only the narrator on my birthday while we are there since we are leaving the day after my birthday. Hopefully it will be nice. At least we aren't eating Hamburger Helper then!

Went to the Jays/Yankees game today. Lots of Yankee fans there wearing lots of Yankee merchandise. The Jays lost 1-0 but it was still a really good game. We won't go tomorrow though -- one Yankee game a year is about Jim's limit. While we love the Red Sox fans can't say the same for Yankee fans -- no offense intended but they tend to be loud and pushy. Two got into a fight at the end of the game and one guy ended up with a bloody mouth -- we saw a cop going after the offender. Interesting end to a game. We also saw Alex Geddy who's a big Jays fan. He stopped and signed some autographs as Jim is asking who is he? (He's a band member of the group Rush btw). Funny part was the lady sitting next to us was trying to convince her husband that it was Alex Geddy and her husband, like Jim was going "Huh, who????". Obviously no taste for good music. :goodvibes

Good luck tomorrow Eric.

Hope you guys don't mind me posting to this thread still, even though we are no longer cruising with you. However, this is the easiest way to communicate to all involved with the NYC trip. And besides, I kinda miss you guys when I don't visit the thread...,

Anyway, my niece called on Friday. She is attending her junior year at Emerson in Boston. She called to ask if she could come visit us during the Columbus Day weekend. She said she would take the Chinatown bus down and back (I told her to check out the Hampton Jitney but I think that is too rich for her blood). She plans on coming down on Friday and leaving on Tuesday. When I told her we have friends coming in from Germany and other places to NYC that weekend she was disappointed thinking we didn't want her. I let her know we definitely want her and that no one would mind her coming along with us to NYC.

Details still have to be worked out with her transportation back and forth. Again, since we don't plan on staying in the City and we just plan on meeting up with you guys, it would help us if we know if you already have a plan on what you want to see and when.

Jean - do you know your arrival time on Friday? If Wendy comes in on the Chinatown bus, I will come into the city on Friday and perhaps we could meet up with you guys on that day.

I don't think we will be going in on Saturday. Sunday would be a good day for us to travel into NYC. And we still would like you guys to come out our way and visit. Saturday night might be good for that even though that is an arrival day for most of you. I am still uncertain how many will be here but we could certainly work out mode of transportation here and back once decisions are made. We are approximately one hour from the city (unless my son is driving, he did it the other a.m. in half an hour - I was not happy to hear that! - 110 mph! )

My niece expressed interest in going to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island to let you know where our interests are for Sunday. However, we will adapt to whatever plans are being made.

Don't know your departure time on Monday so I am leaving that day out for now.

Welcome Nanci and friends!
Tulirose - so funny that your niece's name is Wendy - I was reading your post and it just made me wish I could "hop on" over to join you all!
Wendy

Rosemary,
Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island sounds good to us. Especially as we have now a counterpart to Ellis Island over here: Near Bremen a Emigrants' Museum opened recently. There you can see what Germans emigrating to the USA had to go through from there trip across Germany, the proceedings ine Bremhaven, the Atlantic crossing, to Ellis Island. We're planning on going there next year, so seeing Ellis Island would be intersting.
Additionally we could check another state off our list as according to my knowledge Lady Liberty and Ellis Island are not in New York, but in New Jersey :earboy2:
And please tell Wendy, that we'd love to meet her :wave2:
Pete is still looking for a hotel, but we trust in him finding a good one.

Wendy, your next post well be your 1,000th!!
I must have missed passing my #5,000 some days ago ;)
