Eric - would love to see the chart too!
I teach Biology so the exam results were for the top 3 years. For the oldest ones it decides which university they go to or whether they can go to university. Quite a few of my pupils were waiting to see if they if they did well enough to go to Oxford or Cambridge - personally I don't think these are any better than other university's but some parents don't see if that way! One of the nicest girls in my class stupidly forgot to turn over the last page of the exam paper so her place was really in doubt but today we found out she still did well enough!
Mum and I went out for a meal to celebrate - she knows a lot of the pupils too as she invigilates the exams.
Jim - that sounds a great day.

Nancy -- That "some professional basketball team" must be the Bobcats if they are in Charlotte. This will be their 2nd year in Charlotte after the Hornets (I think that was their name) left us for New Orleans. The Bobcats will be in a beautiful new stadium this year built by the city after we all voted it down in a special election.

If he gets the internship and you come to visit him, we could have a mini-meet of our own maybe with Laurarn who lives just outside of Charlotte. JeanneG lives about 3 hours away in Raleigh.

I really like the song "Dancing Queen" or can I say did until I heard the onboard version of it. :rotfl: Boy was she funny but sing she could not.

Here's hoping that Andy and Arlene don't switch cause a duet with Marianne and Andy would be nice and a lot of fun again.

Jim - The Timmie's will depend on the quality of the Hamburger Helper. :)

Wendy - congrats on the test results. Biology huh? Do your students get to do any dissections? We got to do a cow's eye in high school which was actually quite interesting.

Went to the doc this morning and he's actually quite pleased with my test results so don't have to go back for 6 months rather than the usual 4 months. Jim should get partial credit for these though as he does the lunch making. To celebrate (sortof) we did go to McDonalds and I had a Big Mac -- the first in months.

Fiona

Fiona - thats great test results.
We are not allowed to dissect whole animals here any longer. We can dissect hearts for example but we haven't been allowed to dissect bulls eyes since the BSE (mad cow) scare 15 years ago.

Hi Everyone,
Mike thanks for the info. Anyone who is thinking of staying at the Radisson just let me know. I will not "do" anything until after 1/1/06. For anyone who has not stayed at the Radisson before let me give you a little info. They offer regular rooms (2 double beds) or a 1 bedroom deal (separate bedroom, with a whirlpool tub) and a living room that has a pull out couch that sleeps 2. It also has a mini kitchen (refrig/microwave/sink/coffee maker). I have stayed there 3 times, each time in a standerd room. Twin sister has gotten the 1 bedroom the last 2 times. Every room was very nice. Pool is nice, so is the dinning room. One of the best reasons for us to stay there is the fact that you can leave your car there for free while you are on the cruise. Last time I checked, parking at the port cost $10 per day or $70. SO......this is what we do.....Hubby drives me and the kids over with luggage and drops us off. BIL drives twin and her kids over and drops them off. Then they drive back to the Raddison with both cars, park them, and hop on a shuttle heading back to the port. We do the reverse when we get back. It has worked out very well for us each time.
Now I take the cost of the room, say $100 and subtract what it would cost to park at the port, $70, now the room has cost me ...$30! :wizard:
Those who stay at the Radisson have gotten together for drinks, dinner, even a cook-out at the local park, the night before the cruise. It's just one way to make the fun start a day early.

Jim......What a GREAT day! :cool1:

Hey, What do I have to do to get bribbed? :confused3

Arlene and Andy better show up. Andy's singing is the only thing that gets DH to let me go to the bars at night. :drinking1

Later,
Avé

Hey everyone, Jenn here! I know, I know, I am one of the "switchers". Sorry, It was a hard call, but I have wanted to go to St. Lucia and Barbados for years! Anyway, I just wanted to pop on and say Hi to everyone. Normally I just lurk! It sounds like both Jim and Fiona had a great day :wave2: You both deserved Mcdonalds! We had real food, Pete is getting bored being laid off...so he cooks. Does anyone have something to keep him busy? LOL!! OK.. I hope everyone has a super night!!

Eric...please remove us from the list.....we are defectors!! The new and extra ports were just to hard to pass up!! Since I won't get to use to much of my vacation in weeks time once Sam gets a job, I am burning them up using them as long weekends.....the thought of 2 whole weeks off of work just couldn't be turned down. We booked yesterday with Dan of Dan and Scott!! Glad that we could give him our booking.

Hey Jenn....send Peter down here to keep Sam company....we could send Peter to school.....all he needs is a backpack and lunch bag!! Sam actually gets his stuff ready the night before and unlike Sarah, he does his homework as soon as he gets in the door....too bad that wouldn't rub off on Sarah!!

Hey Jim...you're my kind of guy....McD for lunch...never had a Timmie's (but forget the Hamburger Helper...that is just nasty! and an afternoon nap....on the weekends, when we are out and it is around 3:00 or 4:00 Sarah automatically says....time for mom's nap....I go home and nap and no one is allowed to bother me!! What a life!!

Hi Jenn, great to see you're still posting here. What will we ever do without Peter as our head waiter?

Ave wants a bribe.......OK, my friend,....and this is only because you are so very special.......I promise to sneak into your cabin and leave an obscene towel animal on your bed.

Forgot to mention that they've started cleaning up the remains of that Air France jet that crashed at our airport a while ago.

The preliminary findings ruled out the weather as a contributing cause because there were severe thunderstorms 'almost' passing through the airport at the time the jet was landing, and there was substantial water on the runway at the time.

They'll more than likely find that it was 'pilot error' that caused the accident because the jet landed around 1,300 meters on a 2,600 meter runway. The Lead Investigator has said that there simply wasn't enough runway to stop the jet at that point.

They're still commenting that it was a 'miracle' in practically every newpaper report I've seen.

Yes, that is the name of the team. Apparently they are terrible and have alot of job opening available right now along with internships. So much for the power of voting. In our town they want to build a minor league baseball stadium and this has been going on for about 5 years. Each time it is voted down, they just bring it up again in a new location.

If he does go to Charlotte hopefully we can get together.

MaryJo sorry to see that you are also jumping ship, but can understand why those other ports would tempt you to switch. Pop in every so often to say hi.

Jim, I know exactly where that airport is. I have landed there and also have stayed at different hotels in that area for hockey tournaments. Last time I flew there, I had to be shuttled out to the outer edges of the airport to get my flight. It was like I was sent to a small holding building until the flight came in. Plus it was Air Canada I was flying on. You would think it would at least have a slot at the main terminal.

Jeanne you need to get caught up with those AR tapes, we are already into the 6th leg of AR3.

Hi Jenn. Nice to see you posting.

Ave--- To early for me to know what we are doing the night before the cruise. We have in the past stayed at the Radisson, so probably do that again.

Off to bed.

Well, it wasn't such a perfect day after all.

Despite the fact that the Blue Jays beat the Detroit Tigers, and the fact that I perfectly prepared Hamburger Helper (that 'someone' selected) I was stiffed for the second cup of Tim Horton's coffee that I had previously mentioned in a posting.

This is also despite the fact that there are six Tim Horton's coffee shops within an eight minute drive of the house.

Now I think I'm getting a cold. I cut my lip also. And I can't find my Most Favourite Pen. And I came across two ties that I'd forgotten about when I was looking for my Most Favourite Pen.

I'm holding off on a lot of this stuff because its 11:45 and I'm hoping to move all of the sucky stuff to tomorrow in 16 minutes.

I've got a feeling that tomorrows gonna be a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day.

Jim.

As 'Tomorrow' has arrived now I have the duty to tell you that your were right to be afraid of it: 'The Disney Information Center' in Ocala where we met last year will be closed permanently this Saturday. I already sent you a mail about this.

For all those interested in seeing the Harrison Ford Commemorative Chart: I just contacted our CEO's secretary to ask wether it may be distributed outside the company. If I get a thumbs up, I'll mail you a PDF of it.

Mary,
have fun on the 11-Day, we're gonna miss you.

To Everyone:
I'll do another update soon for the deletions and to show the new Team Members who took over jobs from 'The Switchers' ;)

Wendy,
Biology & Chemistry were my majors in high school.

Hi Everybody:

Sorry to say Andy and I are jumping ship(literally of course) and going to the Sept cruise. New ports are just too hard to pass up. I truly will miss all my disney friends and hope that the next cruise will bring up all back together. Not thrilled about the extra cost but.....I will still post/lurk just so I can see(?) everybody....

Peter: If you have nothing to do we still have a basement that needs to be finished...Andy started the job(he got as far as tearing down 1/2 wall and then stopped. The materials are still sitting in the basement for 2 months now. If that was me that didnt finish the job I would certainly hear about it...

Jim: Sorry about your bad day and hope thattoday is a better one...

Okay "ship jumpers " LOL You all better make Cookie Night this year just so we can all get together....

It was a hard choise for us...we have sooooo many friends on both cruises...however,looks like Disney will be doing longer cruises every so often,so we will do another one someday.....

Our hopes are that BOTH cruises have smooth waters and an abundance of wonderful friends.

Bette

Arlene and Andy so sorry to see that you are leaving us. I know what a tough decision it is since their are friends on both cruises. Have a great time and drop in time to time to post.

Jeanne--- Since all our tablemates have left, I guess the bribe to me for staying has to increase now. What other free items can you find to give me.

Bette--- Maybe after this year I can finally make Cookie night. Since it is Erik's graduation that day, I have to pass on Cookie night. Are you feeling better?

Nancy

Bette, Sweetheart do not feed Gulliver or yourself any cookies containing lobster. We do not need for you two to be sick again. I had cut up some strawberries to put over some angel food cake and had forgotten about them for 3 days in the fridge. Remembered them last night and when I went to get them out to use, they had more moldy hair on them than on my chin. :rotfl:
