Jennifer,
what German vehicle did you buy? BTW, I also prefer manual transmissions, our new convertible has a six-speed.

Eric, it is the Mercedes C 230 Kompressor.

Just a quick note while the chicken is on the grill.....
I got another Islandgram today from Disney Cruise Line! This time it is a leaf with the smell of, I think, Gardinia (sp) on it. When you open the leaf, it has directions on how to make a towel swan, an intro to Twice Charmed the new musical on the Magic and also a section on www.disneycruise.com...it's been revamped, come see it!

My boys are "almost" out of the Buzz phase. Colton is 10 and Connor is 8. It won't be much longer and Connor will want his room changed.

Jenn...HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!

JJsMama...Get better soon! This must be awful being sick for so long!

Eric...reading your post about cars made me think I was reading a section of Auto Weekly! You know your cars!

As for myself, I not only got one coat of sealant on the deck, I got 2! I did one on Friday and one yesterday. Guess what Steve got for Father's day? A sealed Deck! Ugh...I am so sore...I hope I don't have to do that for a while...although, our new fence will need done this fall. Time to flip the chicken....have a good night ya'll!

I called Garmin today about my Streetpilot III GPS. Even though it is 2 years old and the warranty is only for 1 year. They are going to fix it for me for FREE    Not only that, but they are also giving me a free 128mb data cartridge. How is that for customer service.

Hope that Ave and family are having a great time in Washington.

Mike

Cool ride, a coworker of mine has the C 200 Kompressor and likes it very much. But most Mercers over here are sold as automatics as their manual trannies used to suck. Fortunately that's no longer true, but most people still believe it. I recently had a Mercedes A170 with a six speed manual as a rental for a weekend and I liked the gear box: Smooth, precise, and perfectly adapted to the engine.

Michelle,
I'm a subscriber to three major German car-magazines and also read Car & Driver and Road & Track. Fortunately we have a lot of traffic between our Denver headquarters and Frankfurt. So I usually ask my coworkers to bring the latest issues for me. American car magazines have a completely different approach and so it is very interesting to read their point of view.

Mike,
that souinds like good service by Garmin!!
I'm also shopping for a GPS for our new car. Our present car has an in-dash GPS with simple arrow-depiction. It was €1250/$1500 three years ago. For our new car a similar system would be €1080/$1300, a full-colour system with map-depiction even as much as €1850/$2220 :earseek: So I didn't check that box on the options-menue ;)
So now I'm looking for a PDA-based GPS, which I can also use in the USA. One of teh Auto-magazines I haven't subscribed to yet now offers one of those system instead of €499/$600 for €349/$420 including a one-year subscription, so I will order that package tomorrow.

Eric check here GPS INFORMATION for all the information you would ever need on anything gps related.

Hope that everyone has a great rest of the day and a better tomorrow. Mike

Nice Thing's happen to nice People... :wizard: :wave2:

Thanks for the link, Mike.
I just ordered the PDA with magazine subscription. It comes with a Bluetooth GPS receiver, which can be placed anywhere in the car. This can come in very handy when you happen to have a car with one of those metal-coated (Invisible, of course) windshield as those do not have sufficient permeability for GPS signals. In this case I can place the receiver under the rear window as it then transmits its signal wireless to the PDA. It comes with Germany on a memorycard and Germany, Austria and Switzerland on a CD, but from a coworker I'll additionally get the map database for the USA.

That's great news about your GPS Mike. Good customer service that's for sure.

Jays lost last night but it was still an ok game.

Off to work.

Fiona

I have been really pleased with Garmin products in the past. They are know for excellent customer service.

Sorry about the Jays last night Fiona. Like you said though, at least you got to go to the game. Hope that Jim is doing better and your son also.

I talked to Cathy on the phone yesterday and she has been extremely busy.

Knock on wood, on every cruise that we have been on so far the ship as been able to dock at castaway cay. Lets hope that continues next year. Mike

Jim is feeling better than he was although still not 100%. DS is better too.

Yup we are lucky to get to go to the Jays games - esp. for the deal that we got with the tickets. Our favourite attendant told us that they aren't going to have the season passes next year so we won't go to as many games. They weren't going to have the season pass this year but they did so I guess there's still hope.

Hopefully we'll be able to get to Castaway Cay next year -- we'll have 2 tries at it anyway!

Back to work.

Fiona

Don't forget: We're a cult. We just do the usual rituals, and there shouldn't be any problems with the weather.
And remember: Never do a one-week-cruise without the Germs!! It may lead to you being chased across the Ocean - Ask the CruisEars-people :rotfl2:

Forgot about the cult part -- this is the part when we take over the secret deck 7 for some ritualistic dancing right? How could I have forgotten. :rotfl:

Well Cult or not. My computer has been blitzy since last week. It would work then it wouldn't. I can get email, I can't get email. I tried to use restore feature and it would not respond. After things working for a short while, everything then freezes up and I get the "not responding" response. Then I shut the whole thing down and walk away, try again and it would work for a short time and then it wouldn't.

Three things in common I did several times after thinking I fixed things and then things got screwy again....Excuse me.... FOUR (4) things. Those four things were
  • Reading emails - always ones from my sister in Nebraska
  • Checking out home sale web sites in Pennsylvania
  • Automatic updates installed for Service Pack 2
  • CHECKING OUT THE DIS BOARD -- THIS THREAD IN PARTICULAR!!!!

Okay guys, send some pixie, fairy or whatever dust my way. I want my computer problems resolved... PERMANENTLY!!!! No more screwy cult curses please!!

Leaving tomorrow for D.C. Hope to meet up with Ave some time. Have to try to call her since I can't rely on this computer anymore!!!

Oooooo......count me in! I'm always up for getting into trouble!

Rosemary: sorry about your computer problems......we've been having lots of brown-outs lately. Maybe it's due to a power overload in your area and not with your computer per se.

On a more serious note, I watched Hotel Rwanda today......what a powerful movie. Very disturbing, but an awesome movie nonetheless. I was really happy Jamie Fox got best actor until I saw this film today......now I think Don Cheadle got robbed.

Peter one of the best free programs that I have found is Microsoft's spy-ware beta. Jim recommend it when he had spy-ware problems and it has done a great job for me. Just go to the Microsoft website and download it. You do not have to validate it for it to work. Mike

If you're really nice, Rosie, I'll remove some needles from the little Voodoo-computer I have on my altar :teeth:

But a brown-out could really be the the reason, as computers are kind of 'sensitive' when it comes to fluctuations in the power supply.
