Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, Jenn  :cheer2: :cake: :bday: :jumping3: :thewave:

And congrats on #3400 to Bette & Kim

Happy Birthday, Jenn! (the nicest people are born in June!)

Happy Father's Day to all the dads!

Nancy: I put the CD in the mail yesterday along with the pamphlet for Norm, but I was rushing on my way out so I just stuck it in without any accompanying note! I hope you enjoy the envelope.....my daughter just rolled her eyes when she saw it!

JeannieC: Is there any chance you still have your copy of Shopping in Paradise for Nassau from your recent Wonder cruise? The kids made such a stink about us going to the Poly without them, that we booked another mini-vacation to Atlantis. We'll only be there a few days and we're not really planning to go into town often, but I thought I might take a look at the flyer and see if there's anything worthwhile to do or see in downtown Nassau. If you still have one, could you please send me a copy? Thanks! OR ALTERNATIVELY, is there somewhere I can find it online?

Jeanne,
I can take my Passporter to the office tomorrow and scan the pages covering Nassau, if that is of any help. Please let me know until 4pm EST. Or if you have a fax, I can also fax you the pages.

AAAARGH,
those jerks in Formula One have a race running with six cars only: Michelin brought the wrong tyres to Indianapolis. Those rubbers can't cope with the asphalt on the speedway, there were two crashes due to punctured tyres during the training sessions. So they demande the erection of an additional chicane on the track to lower the speeds. As this is not commensurate with the rules the FIA denied that request.
The consequence: All teams running on Michelin now boycot the race. The American spectators at the speedway are very disappointed and are booing and throwing stuff onto the track.
It's now only ferrari, Minardi, and Jordan who have their cars racing as they use Bridgestone tyres.
This is so ridiculous :sad2:

Hello all! Thanks for the Birthday Wishes! We spent the morning near the ocean in my favorite little town called Rockport. It was just beautiful there! It was very busy there, must be all the Dad's going to celebrate too!! Pete sends a big HI to everyone too!!

Eric:
Either way would be fine......I will pm you my fax # which is a dedicated line. Thanks so much!

Eric: Just thought of something....why would you have the Nassau flyer? Haven't you only been on the Magic recently?

Psssst: I did a secret cruise :rotfl2:

No, it's not the original Nassau Flyer, but The Passporter's DCL Edition has a chapter on Nassau, which I will fax to you first thing in teh morning.

Jeanne,
I just sent you a mail to your hotmail-account, there's a link in it I couldn't post here ;)

Thanks, but I just checked Barb's website and -of course - she had one there! Thanks so much for the offer, but I found what I was looking for. We were basically trying to see if there are any decent restaurants in town since I understand the Atlantis is EXTREMELY expensive when it comes to dining. We planned to have dinner one night at Fathoms, which is the restaurant in the "Dig" and then possibly eat off premises the rest of the time.

OkieDokie, Jeanne.
So I don't have to lug my Passporter to the office ;)

Happy Birthday Jenn. :cheer2:

Great Photo's of the car Eric. I know that you and Anja will enjoy it. As a side benefit of being on deck 2 Eric, there are a lot more stairs for you to climb to go to the gym to keep in shape.

My GPS died as far as being able to load maps into it. I have emailed the company as far as options that are available. My daughter and her husband took Kathy and myself to Texas Roadhouse steakhouse for father's day. It was delicious.

Have a good week everyone from one cult member to another. Mike

Peter, for the record, you are in 6134. Don't try stealing our room again ;)

Happy Birthday Jenn :cheer2:  :bday: :cake: :thewave:

Just got home from a internet-free weekend. Taking forever to check the boards and e-mail! Eric, we had to follow your lead. We bought a new car :cheer2: We'll pick it up next Friday! Another Subaru Outback H6.

Tracy

Hi everybody. I was about 10 pages behind, but I am still here.

I've been really down with this *&^%$ virus. This is the eighth week I've had it, if you can believe that. The arthritis (which got really bad) and edema are mostly gone but the anemia remains and reminds me that the virus is still in my system whenever I try and act like I am well. Hopefully, it is one the way out. I started Weight Watchers (points) from home and really like it. Has anyone done it? I've lost 9 pounds these two weeks. So now I am back to where I was before I got sick two months ago. Hoping to lose about 9 more and I am sure these will be slower coming off.

Speaking of new cars, we've got a new one too - one of those heavy, fast German things. We had to wait an extra week for them to find a manual transmition for DH to play with. Trouble is, there is really no place to drive her fast around here.

Cookie Night sounds fabulous. I'd love it. I think 1000 miles for one party might be a bit far though. :guilty:

Michele, with the talk of Buzz Lightyear, it sounds like our boys might be close in age. Mine are 4 and 6 and we are deep into Buzz around here.

Take care everybody, Jennifer

It's not just a boy thing either, because my DD, who will be 4 in October loves Buzz. Now, she loves the princesses too, but Buzz is the one non-princess character that she can't get enough of.

Happy Birthday Jenn -- glad that you had a good time.

Jays lost again this afternoon but it was quite nice weatherwise at the game (as long as you were in the sun). For the last part of the game we were in the shade and I was glad that I had my sweater.

Just got back from driving DS back to Borden. At least this week we are back fairly early as I have to be up early for work. I brought some home but it didn't even leave the car!

So glad that I joined this cult!

Fiona

Congrats on the new car, Tracy. Did you know that Subaru is the only company apart from Porsche building flat6-engines for cars? And there's Honda, which has a flat6 in the GoldWing-motorcycle.

Jennifer,
what German vehicle did you buy? BTW, I also prefer manual transmissions, our new convertible has a six-speed.

Eric, I didn't know that there were any others besides Subaru. This will be our 5th Subaru. Because of our commute (about 14 miles in the country and usually earlier than the snowplows come out), we love the Subarus for their all wheel drive. And the flat motor looks so nice under the hood :rotfl2:

Porsche exclusivly has flat sixes in their sports cars. They tried straight fours in the 924/944/968 and V8s in the 928 and nearly went bankrupt. They started with a flat four in late 40ies as the first Porsche sports car, the 356, used the basic layout of the Volkswagen Beetle (Aircooled flat four), which was developed by Professor Ferdinand Porsche for Hitler.
With the 911 in 1963 the flat six was introduced with a displacement of 2.0 litres and 130hp. It was aircooled and stayed that way until the late 90ies when it was replaced by the present watercooled flat six. Right now it has up to 3.8 litres displacement and 355hp naturally aspirated or 450hp as a turbo (The numbers for the US-spec cars are slightly lower), but next year's Turbo will surely exceed 500hp.
The main advantage of the flat engine layout is the low center of gravity which comes in especially handy for a car with an increased ground clearnce like your Subaru or for a sports car like the 911, the Boxster, or the brandnew Cayman.
The Porsche SUV, the Cayenne, uses V6 and V8 engines.
Subaru even develops a flat four diesl for the Euopean market, which will be a first in engineering history. They stick as stubbornly to that engine layout as BMW sticks to straight sixes - it's part of their philosophy and makes those cars very unique. I also drove a lot with Subarus as my ambulance service was sponsored for many years by Subaru. But I try to buy as European as possible, we already outsorced enough to the Asians ;) Soem Japanese car manufacturers already produce in Europe, but so far the do not have four seater convertibles. The Miata is too small, the Z350 guzzles too much gas when driven in German traffic.

I just did our taxes (As usual four weeks too late ;) ) and we'll get back nearly €500/$600. And when I compared this year's numbers to last year's I saw that each of us paid about €1,000/$1,200 less than last year - even though we had raises. But part of it was eaten up by increased premiums for health insurance, unemployment and retirement. Nevertheless it's good to see that taxes are going down.
So tomorrow I have to do some copies and then I'll drop it off at the IRS. They don't care about getting it late as long as they owe money, but beware when you owe them :rotfl2:
I guess we'll get our refund sometime between October and Xmas.

Eric:Hopefully you'll have it back before your trip to NYC in October so you can treat us all to something nice!
