We just saw a a German comedyshow on TV and they already have a nickname for the new Pope: They call him Paparazzi (Papa= Italian for Pope, Razzi as a shortform or Ratzinger). They also said that his name Benedict was the wrong choice: Succeeding John Paul he should have named himself George Ringo

Welcome home Eric & Anja. You'll have to post a quick report on your vacation. It was obviously good if you want to go back next year.

Glad to see that everything is going better Mary Jo. I'll agree with Sarah that it's not fair if Sam doesn't have any homework -- where is the fun in that.

Just trying to clear my desk so that I can get a file out of the drawer (thanks Mary Jo for that hint) and actually do some work on it next week. I've been asked about it so I guess it's time to actually finish it up.

We're moving to Springfield, IL!! On June 4th!!!!

I got a transfer, promotion, raise!!!

The kids are excited. I'm a little overwhelmed--it's only 6 weeks away. I've got 11 years of living to sell, trash, or pack. I'm trying to be relentless, but it's tough.

Tom didn't take the news well. As my mother says, "He's delusional, irrational, and stupid." He's going to try every trick in the book to either stop me, delay me, or make me feel guilty. And you know what? It ain't going to work

This is a good move for all three of us. We're going to be fine.

thanks for reminding me of my desk, I hope it isn't cluttered with undone work after two weeks absence But fortunately I will have a smooth start next week: I'll attend a three-day-traning as an ISO-Auditor from Monday til Wednesday. Most departments of my company are ISO-certified and to keep it at that we have to do regular internal audits as a preparation for the official audits doen by an external institute. After that training I will have to evaluate other departments from time to time. It comes additionally to my 'normal' job with no extra pay so far, but will give me deep insight of other parts of the company, which may in the end proof career-enhancing.

Yes, I can post a trip-report. I did a diary each day on my PDA, but have yet to translate it into a language our mono-lingual friendfs from across the Great Pond can understand

Hi guys...just thought that I would drop in and say "hi"....keeping busy at work and things seem to be getting a little better financially here...they reinstated our vacation (had suspended our bi-weekly accrual for 5 pay periods) and we actually made a small profit for the January to March quarter!! Our OB Project is finishing up after being fast tracked and we are set to open our new state of the art unit the 2nd week of May. Then my boss and I start on yet another project...adding a new deck to our garage (our parking situation is a nightmare as we are situated right in the middle of a neighborhood). Sam and Sarah are both well and studying hard in school and Sarah told him that he can't go out anywhere at night until his homework is done (and she was bummed when he told her that he doesn't get homework). Rainy dreary day here today and supposed to rain all weekend. Enjoy the Hamburger Helper Fiona!! That is one dish that I have never bought...just don't like the looks of it.

Peter is right. We love our Skype set up. It was very quick and easy to set up and you don't have to put very much information in it to be up and running (the only required things were e-mail address - which no one can see - and a Skype user name). We've been chatting with people from Canada and Illinois from our upcoming Eastbound PC cruise and some folks from the Boston area Would love to talk with you too! I hear some people even call Caribbean islands just to check out the weather LOL

Congrats Marianne on the move! Welcome to all the newbies! Cruisetoberfest III was our first CF and we had a blast! Didn't know anyone before that, but know a lot of you now!

Welcome Home Eric and Anja. Glad that you are safe and sound back in your apartment.

Good to hear from you Mary Jo and that Sam and Sarah are doing well also.

Peter we are using an I Book laptop that belongs to nurses for newborns, not as nice as my personal powerbook used to be. I bought a Mac Mini and after our trip to Washington DC next week I will add some memory to it and then a DVD burner. It has a CD burner in it now and I will upgrade it.

The other day I had to take my daughter's border collie to the animal birth control clinic to be neutered. They got him out of the pound and he was about to be put to sleep. I also had to drop Katie off at preschool. I told my daughter I dropped off one to be tutored and one to be neutered

Well, we're back from our first (and probably last) stay at Saratoga Springs. Had a great studio (Room 2323 in Congress Park) facing the quiet pool and the water beyond the pool. We could see Downtown Disney, back of Pleasure Island, Planet Hollywood, boats going back and forth. The room was very nice altho when we moved in, I noticed a big weird patch on the ceiling -- looked like it might have been a leak from the unit above, but it wasn't near the plumbing. Sam and I ended up with nasty coughs and I really think it could have been mold or something up there. SS is just too big for us and too spread out. Also agree with many of the complaints I have read about the food in Artist's Palette. Too little variety and kind of weird items -- like chicken and artichoke flatbread. Not my cup of tea at all. Glad we tried it out, tho. Didn't do too much in the way of parks -- did get to ride Soarin' and it was pretty cool. Next trip is a Wonder cruise and BWV in June with our DS, DD and DGS. Really looking forward to that.

Anja's ward will be closed permanently on 05/01/05. And although their chief nurse told the team that everybody will be transferred according to their personal preferrences they want to put her to the internistic ER - A place where she definitely doesn't want to work. Tomorrow there will be a another talk of the whole team with the chief nurse as some more of her colleagues are dissatisfied with their transfers. Please keep your fingers crossed for Anja.

I start my new job tonight. I have been in "training" for the past 2 weeks. My shift is 11pm to 7am I have not worked that kind of shift since college, so I'm a little worried.I tried to take a long nap this afternoon but it didn't work.I hope I can stay awake!
