10/1/21 (Planning thread for those w/ Magic Kingdom ressies on the BIG 50th)!

Got through on my mobile--and yes what a mess. This was me from 5:45 until a bit after 6... :coffee: I don't know how many times I attempted to book on my laptop that wouldn't take; I would get to almost to the confirmation but not get charged, and then my friends and family weren't recognized, and ugh! Wanted to bang my head against the wall, but finally 9 am took.

me too!!!And times were popping up around 545 which was stressing me even more because I thought I missed the release!!!! Yay!!!

Got one for 8:45, after 5 false starts and new error pages. We had a whole separate post for folks trying to make the ADRs at CRT - they gave me hope to keep trying and finally got one!
I was saying we need to make sure to mark ourselves with the neon green mickey symbol so we can all wave!

Note also - I got charged $42 per person, but the price says $32.99. So will need to call to get that fixed later.

that’s a great idea!!
Yes, for 2 people it came to 52.50 each- I will figure that out as well- but for now I’ll take it as a win!!

I know it’s already been discussed but how certain are we that if you have a park reservation, you’ll for sure be able to get in? And does that change after park hoppers can come at 2? I can stay in the park all day no problem but idk about my mom. We’re not opposed to going to a monorail resort for a few hours too but then we get nervous about re-entry.

I have an ADR at the GFR at 11 because I was too scared to leave the park after 2 - so I don't trust it either! They say that you are counted towards the park capacity with a reservation, it doesn't count that you left and will still remember that you had a park reservation - but I kinda want to ask a cast member at the gate to be sure.

My meals for the day now are:
CRT 8:45a
Grand Flordian Cafe 1:50p
Tony's Town Square at 8:05p

Some risky times there. Not sure we can risk grabbing a ride before the 8:45a time or not, but can shop a little. Pretty sure they'll let us back in the park after 2 as we have MK Park reservations. Dinner is right before fireworks - will keep looking to move that up, but if not, we'll just show up early and eat fast and find a spot near the entrance (where I want to be anyways) for the fireworks.

I know there is a lot of unhappiness about Genie + but I'm worried that it won't start until after 10/1. I really hope to have some sort of fast pass for this day.

I'm not excited about Genie+ but would be willing to try it for this trip. I'm accepting that the park will be very crowded and it won't be a day to ride a bunch of things, but I also would like to do some attractions! I feel like it will be available for Oct. 1

If Genie+ has been rolled out by October 1st, I'll spend $30 for my wife and be a guinea pig for the good of the DIS.

Our basic touring plan for MK on October 1st is:

Rope Drop: Jungle Cruise & PotC.

10:10 am Breakfast ADR at CRT.

Mid-morning through early afternoon: Haunted Mansion (maybe Splash or BTMRR but not "must dos"), Riverboat.

Mid-afternoon until dinner: Shopping, Buzz, TTA, Snacks.

5:50 pm Dinner ADR at Plaza Restaurant.

After dinner: Shopping on Main Street and stake out a spot for Enchantment.

9:00 pm - Enchantment

I'm interested to see if Genie+ actually facilitates us being able to ride more than the handful of rides we're hoping to do that day. If it delivers on reducing wait times on a crazy day like the 50th, it might be worth the $15 charge.

For the majority of the people there that day rides will likely be their lowest priority, so it may not be the best data point. Big anniversaries tend to be more about ceremonies, entertainment, and merch than about rides. I don't recall us riding a single ride on DLP's 20th or 25th. Maybe one or two on DL's 50th? But certainly not more.

JC and PotC are not available during the extra early hours for resort guests, just in case you missed that.
Fantasy and Tomorrowland only areas.

Anyone else able to get Cinderella’s table?? I got my breakfast ADR! Site kept crashing so I went mobile and kept searching and finally got thru around 610!!
We got it for 8:15 on Oct 1! Yesssss! I was refreshing and changing the time when it finally popped up. not used to before opening ressies…hoping we can get into the park without crowds and get some empty park pics…

It’ll prob be gone In seconds but there’s a Plaza ADR for 3 for 6:25 on 10/1 right now.

EDIT—-gone. Hope one of you got it

Good point. We don't plan on doing lots of rides either (but definitely would still do PotC, HM, and TTA), but I really don't know yet what special entertainment there will be. That could certainly drive our schedule away from rides. I'm not one to go nuts for exclusive merchandise, but if there's a specific item I actually WANT, I might be willing to wait in a line to purchase it.

I wasn't even thinking about the early entry. We might knock out Buzz and TTA first in that case.
