That's OK Jill. After your co-worker's trip is long gone like a faded tan, you can be showing her pics of your up coming trip. Show up at work after the trip with a great tan, and lots of great stoies to tell!

Thank god our We can get by on the unemployment and Jens pay...

Peter during the civil war, only one other state had more battles fought on it's soil than Tennessee and that was Virginia. Best that I can remember there were 457 battles fought in Tennessee. Tennessee was the last state to leave the union and the first to return after the war.

I used to work for a crappy company (CSX). They were so dumb that they did not put any money for snow removal for the chicago area to keep the rail yards operational. Their solution was to lay people off to balance the budget.

Looking forward to the cruise. Mike

No Internet today at my workplace :( Some jer*s got their 'puters infested with 'Sasser', so our IT-guys had to put the whole company-net into quarantine to update 400+ PCs. I did it at home on Saturday and again today - Just to be sure.

Yesterday I ordered a 160GB-removable harddisk for my PC. Now it should be good for another year or so, but I'm slowly running out of USB-ports :p External DVD-writer, external CD-writer, Force-Feedback-Joystick, Force-Feedback-Wheel, Joypad, Printer, digicam, memorystick, webcam, SIM-card-writer: My desk looks like a bed in an ICU :jester:

Thanks, Eric, more making me feel even more technology illiterate than I did before.......I don't have the foggiest idea what you're talking about, but it sounds good!

You aren't the only one Jean -- Jim says that once he starts talking computers I get a glazed look in my eyes. It's true and I end up just nodding a lot!

Busy at work trying to get the "little stuff" off my desk. I'm not sure if it's working yet though!

A client opened up a new restaurant and we were invited last night for a dry run. It was really good actually and we were given food that I would not have ordinarily ordered -- we had to order a set menu as it was really a dry run for their staff rather than the guests. It was ok though because I tried stuff I would not have ordered on my own.

It's cold here today -- Only about 40F but at least it isn't raining like it did all weekend.

We went to Buffalo Saturday afternoon for a scouting meeting which was nice except for the rain. Stopped at Tops on the way home. Am always amazed at all the different brands of stuff in the US. Our grocery stores are fine but we don't have 6 different brands of frozen waffles etc. so it's always interesting to walk through the grocery store.

Back to work. Jays are back in town though!

Fiona

Fiona,
we had 73°F/23°C today, but around 9pm it started to rain and the forecast predicts more rain for the rest of the week, but the temps are supposed to stay in the upper 60/lower 70-range. Next weekend will be our first off after four weeks, but the rest of the May-weekends will be full of work again: I'll teach two first classes and will surely be at the office one Saturday.

Jeanne,
Anja's also technologically challenged ;) At least at home, because she's got a servant handling everything with more than one button to push.
Although at the hospital she has to operate myriads of gizmos, she refuses to touch any electronic device at home.

Eric -- Last Thursday it was 24C here and it was so wonderful. The temps have now gone down again below the seasonal average. The rain is typical for this time of year but it's always depressing when it rains all weekend.

Off to the ballgame tonight.

Fiona

I don't have the foggiest idea what you're talking about, but it sounds good!

They're all supposedly Adult male toys with lots of buttons and flashing lights.

They all do Something Significant but are not on the same testosterone level as Power Tools.

Now Power Tools are Real Adult Male Toys. They're one step down from a Male's Car.

:)

Jim.

Peter - I'm jealous. I want to go. Unfortunately, that is the busy time for me at work so I can't. Maybe I'll have to fly out and do a cruise out there depending on where it goes and how much it costs.

I too am computer challenged. When Andy talks computers, science fiction or numbers of any sort I actually just tune out and just look at him with a dumb f--k face on. I actually admitted to him the other day when we were having an exceptionally good day with each other that when he talks numbers to me in my mind I only hear blaa blaa blaa blaa. Fortunetely he laughed but who know if one day it will come and bite me in the back....

there is a special place in hell for people who create and spread computer viruses! Eric...Hope your system is back up soon.

Eric you have 160 GB!!!:earseek: WOW!

Hi Guys,

Have not checked in for a while, all in all the boards have been quiet.

Mom & I hope to also do the Repo cruise from Fla to Ca. I should hear from my Travel agent tomorrow...

I have been busting my backside for the past 5 days installing all the new trim on the house, so that everything is ready for the siding party on May 15th. I can't wait to get it finished. I also have nightmares that we will not have enough help to get it done. One of our builder friends had to back out, his company is sending him to Saudi Arabia to install a portable ski slope.

Hopefully it will all work out. I will post a few links for pictures this weekend if anyone is interested in seeing what a 1760 house looked like back then....

Renee',
Was a specific night picked out to go to the MNSSHP ?. I have not done airfare yet, so I have a little flexibility..PLMK and we will also order our tickets. I read that the Wine & Food festival is around that time, anyone know about the dates for that event ?

How soon until we leave ????

Bye, Kim

Kim - I bought tickets for MNSSHP for Oct. 12 (the day before we fly home). I didn't want to go on Oct. 1 since I want to spend time and play at Ron Jon. I also made a PS for LTT for 5pm since we had so much fun there last year.

The dates or the Food & Wine Festival are October 1 - November 14, 2004. Maybe we'll hit there too. I forgot it was then.

LTT=Liberty Tree Tavern

When are you planning on going to the festival? Maybe we'll go too. Lenny and wine......(you probably know the rest). lol

Renee'

Kim - glad you guys are going to MNSSHP. It will be fun. Can't wait.

Where are you staying after the cruise? We're staying at the Marriott Grande Vista (got a great deal and only have to listen to a 90 min. speel about the resort).

Eric you have 160 GB!!!:earseek: WOW!

I must admit, that I even have 240 GB: 80 GB in the puter and an additional 160 GB in an external drive as soon as the new drive arrives - Probably Friday.

That Sasser-worm ist a mean bugger, but obviously it has a feeling of justice: I mainly hit the computers of the managers in my company, but left Joe Average's puter alone :p This morning my manager came in after a day off, booted his notebook after inserting it into the docking station and then it shut down and restarted for about 30 minutes - we nearly laughed our bu**s off :rotfl: He ran around in circles and cried for help from our IT-guys, but they were already working at other hotspots and arrived after about an hour. Fortunately after about half an hour the notebook stayed online long enough to automatically download the patch and repair itself.
My teamleader has the same problem with his PC at home, but only has an analog modem, which requires about 10 minutes to download the Microsoft patch. As I'm the proud owner of a brandnew upgrade to a DSL 2048-line (Meaning that I need about 4 seconds to download 1 MB) I downloaded it again for him, put it on my USB-flashdrive (32 MB key chain data carrier) and will pass it to him tomorrow.
