What is your favorite DVC at WDW to stay at during the Christmas season? Which one do you feel is the most cozy and festive for the holiday?

I actually have never been to WDW for the Christmas season. Last week I finished making ressies for my first holiday trip to our home at VWL. I hear it is spectacular. My youngest will be in second grade, I will take her with me. Unfortunately my DSs will be in 14 and 11 at the time, and though they are both good students, the workload is so much that they will not be able to miss a week of school. Boy, am I going to have to come back with good souvenirs for them!

I have gone down to WDW every year for the past 3 years, and stayed at BC. However, I have to say that WL is just gorgeous!!! I am not a member, so getting ressies over Christmas-New Year's isn't an option for me, but both the lodge and the villas are really something! I think having the tree go up to the 2nd floor, and stringing garland on the railings really look nice, and sitting there in the rockers by the fireplace is wonderful! That's the absolutely best time of year to be at WL! The other DVC resorts are also very nice, expecially BWV, but they just can't compare to VWL.

My choice, without a doubt would be VWL. This resort at Christmas is like looking at a perfect Christmas card. Between the decor of the resort, the fantastic christmas tree, the wonderful and huge firepladce, the smells, the cozy nooks and seating areas, etc., this resort just screams "old fashioned Christmas".
All the WDW resorts are decorated very nicely for the holidays to varying degrees but WL/VWL is one of the very best, imo.

NO NO NO!!!!!

VWL is a TERRIBLE place at Christmas. Just awful. Avoid at ALL cost! ;)

I have stayed at the BWV, the BCV and the VWL during the holidays and nothing compares to the look and feel of the VWL. My only issue there is that I miss the "western" music that's played through the rest of the year but love the Christmas music that is played in its place.

While the VWL may appeal to some and I totally agree that it is great, it is not my style. heck I LIVE in the north and the is the decor de norm here ;)

I prefer the BC holday merry go round in the lobby that is made of a candy like substance, and the laid back sophisticated decor of the BCVs.

That is what is so great about DVC...something for everyone!!!!!

VWL hands down!! We have stayed there twice during the Christmas season and it is absolutely wonderful!! Of course I may be biased since we own there. We have been to OKW and BWV the same time of year and its not quite the same as WLV. Never been to BCV. But in defense of the other DVC resorts I know that other times of the year there are great advantages over WLV.

But man it sure is great to own at WLV and make 11 mos ressies in Jan.

Hmmm...I had a feeling that WLV would be the most festive! I only stayed at the Swan, Dolphin and BWV during Christmas season. Now that I am an official DVC member (SSR), we are planning yet another Christmas-season trip to Disney for 2005. DH wants to stay at WLV. Maybe I should make a reservation at 11-months for SSR and then see if I could switch to WLV at my 7-month mark? Am I allowed to do that?

Yes you can do that. It is one of the nice things about DVC. Even if you can't move, you still have your home resort reservation. This year there was still reservations available at 7 months (at least for studios). This year a relative decided to join us and we were able to make the reservation within the 7 month window.

Have fun.

I've never been at Xmas, but have ressies for VWL for Dec. 5-12. I'll desperately miss the WL music, though - it's so relaxing. We'll just have to listen to the Xmas music while we have our cookies and milk by the fire (kids in the jammies, of course!)

Paula,

We will be there from the 5 - 10. What part of Ct are you from? We got 8 inches here in Fairfield County yesterday.

It is the Boardwalk that trips my trigger! VWL is okay... yeah they got a big tree and all.... but pound for pound, BWV beats it... IMO anyway!

VMS - Another Connecticutite (is that the right word??) celebrating at the lodge the same week we are!! We got 7 ins. in Middletown yesterday - you gotta love CT!
