Following on from Kevins thread...
what do you wish someone had told you before travelling to Orlando?
only 1 thing per post guys;)
i wish someone had warned me not only about the heat but also the humidity.

hope this thread might be good for the first timers amongst us:cloud9:

That you can visit any Disney resort and eat at their restaurants even if you're not staying there.

(Despite having a character meal booked at a different hotel on our first visit I didn't realise I could go to any hotel at any time.)

Heat and Humidity, hey that's two things, You broke your own rule. :confused3

I wish someone would have told me about the paint brushes on Tom Sawyer's Island. I didn't realize if you found one you can trade it in for something like a fast pass ticket or something. I don't know, I hope to find one when we go in December to find out what you get. Trying to be the first to wake Tinker Bell isn't very easy.

That, contrary to what some of the TA brochures lead you to believe, you DO NOT have to book your special character meal with the TA at about £60 pp and you DO NOT have to ride there in a Limo! $25 a head and riding the Disney bus gives you the same kick!

That there is no such thing as a once in a lifetime trip instead you are starting an addiction to last you a lifetime.

There are loads.
1st Xmas visit, I wish we had been told how cold it can get, we expected cool days but not de-icing the car every morning, thankfully had some warmer ones since but anyone going at Xmas take clothes for any weather from hats/gloves and scarves to Shorts & TShirts, you can need them all in the same day.

yes yes yes to all the above AND to make your ADRs. When we went the 1st time with 2 small kids, age 3 and 5, it was Christmas time and I'll never forget the frustration at not being able to sit down and have a table service dinner when we wanted to and having to eat fried chicken, hot dogs and loads of "fast food" instead at the counter service options

Couldn't agree more!

I wish I'd known about the sheer volume of food options around WDW. We just thought everywhere would just sell burgers and hot dogs and, as a result, we didn't try many onsite dining options the first time we went.

i agree about the adrs.
visit the hotels, the theming and attention to detail is amazing, as well as some of the best onsite restaurants

I wish I'd have been told that it would completely take over my life, cost me thousands and thousands of £s for compulsary trips for the rest of my life and oh, introduced to the wonders of Earl of Sandwich sooner than the second trip!

Ditto! Oh and EoS :worship::worship::worship:

Getting ADR's for breakfast in the parks prior to official rope drop gets you in before the crowds :cool1: It's lovely to see parks when their empty and a great opportunity to get photos

To ignore DH and go to Disney.

We did 7 trips to various parts of Florida before setting foot in Disney!

He had been as an older teenager with his family and was unimpressed prefering Universal. (I think it was a combination of his age and his family's lack of planning - he thought disney was too busy, awful food etc)

First trip after DD arrived we went to Disney and were hooked.

I was so nervous before our first stay onsite last year that DH would hate it (people at work were taking bets as to how long he would last!)

But it was him who was super keen to go back onsite this year, think DDP is a big factor and seeing how happy DD is.

I would say the thing I found out on my 7th visit...how good and cheap the Lynxx buses are, would deffinatley use them again!
