1 photo pass photographer yesterday at DHS :(

Another thing to keep in mind is the weather. It downpoured 3 out of our 6 days. The characters were taken in, so our picture at Tusker house was just us standing in front of a cement wall. It was really odd. All the photographers were gone more than half our trip. We ended up with over 100 pictures, but they are in the same 5 locations. I was also disappointed in the variety of magic shots. We have the same magic shot in 3 parks. I wish they were more specific. The kicker for me was standing in line for 2 hours to get a picture with Jack and Sally. We finally got to the front of the line and it started to rain. We literally watched the photographer pack up. Tough luck for us. An untrained CM took a picture with our camera. It was awful! The part we still laugh about is how our daughter was just tall enough to get on the rides, but not tall enough to be seen, so those were a waste, too.

We noticed this on our last trip also. They were there for most character M&G's but very few just in the park other than at the entrance. It was the first time I had bought the photopass and I was disappointed with the lack of photographers.

Same. Every year there are less and I'm hitting myself now for purchasing Memory Maker, since we mostly only have ride photos. They are in less locations. And even where there are still photographers, there are less of them.

Our first year we got an amazing photo from TL with our family coming down the raft ride -- our favourite picture ever, yet they haven't had photopass photographers in the waterparks on any of our trips since. IMO this is the best kind of place for them to be, to take pictures of your family that you couldn't take yourselves.

OP here, we just returned home yesterday from our WDW trip. It never got better with photographers and we had beautiful weather.

We only went to DHS and MK, I already reported how DHS was, well at MK there was about 4 photographers down Main Street and 1 by the statue close to the castle. I never saw any more. So disappointed. The later in the day it got, the less photographers down Main Street. Some of my favorite past photos were around the sides of the castle late at night as it was changing colors.

We had MM and were not on site, so we were using the card and were also using a few photopass cards as we were a party of 14 and bound to split up. We were only once given a fit about my husband not having the original MM card on Space Mtn and the worker refused to put their photo on our card?? Very frustrating, but the rode later and had no problem with someone different.

We will not do the MM again unless we have the DDP and plan to do several character meals. It was nice having a few shots we probably couldnt of gotten ourselves, but defiantly not worth the money. We had less than 30 photos taken all week. We saw NO photographers at Typhoon Lagoon either.

So, unless you have some of the specific character meals planned, and plan to stand in the long meet and greet lines, I do not personally feel like the MM is worth the price at all. But, if that is your plan, then great, you may get some wonderful shots. The only thing I get a picture of that I couldnt of done myself was the 2 ride shots we got. BOO!

Are the photo from the Buzz Lightyear ride included in the PP+? What about the pics taken during the "Make the Frozen" girls?

All ride photos and all pictures taken by PhotoPass photographers are included. (And I assume you mean "meet", not "make". ;))

Thanks for the reply....but do you prepurchase PP+?

I am not a great typist. I did mean "Meet"

Now see, I disagree. It looks to me that if the photographer had backed up enough to get the feet in, he would've had a hard time getting all of Spaceship Earth or the castle in. (For the Goofy one, it looks like he wanted to get the crashed motorcycle on the left in.)

Backing up would NEVER result in LESS of the background being in the picture. 1-2 steps back with all of those pictures would have allowed both the feet/legs to be in the shot as well as more space at the top of the frame. I can understand that backing up in the Goofy area might not be possible, but in that case they should be shooting with a wider lens. Good grief, most of this is not rocket science.

Last time the photos ranged from terrible to okay. One of the "terrible" ones was taken in front of the castle as we walked in. Clearly the guy had metered for the castle, so there it was, surrounded by blue sky, and there we were, completely shadowed. Yes, it's nice to have the castle so perfect, but if you're taking shots of PEOPLE then you need to have the PEOPLE come out looking good, or at least average the exposure between the two. I also routinely hate the shots taken at the restaurants, with the exception of Tusker House with it's out-door location. On-camera flash is NEVER a good look. I mean I understand they want the most even lighting without having cords and stands for kiddos to fall over, but talk about harsh shadows and unflattering light. Surely they could at least afford a separate backdrop light which wouldn't be a tripping hazard.

Barring improvements, at least give me the shots in RAW so I can edit them properly myself. :rotfl:

PP+ isn't available anymore; it's been replaced by Memory Maker. It's pretty much the same thing except it's download only, no CD.

Anyone have anything to report as of lately? I got PP+ last May and last December and loved it, especially because its just my girlfriend and I so its nice to be in the pictures together. I was planning on buying it again but if they got rid of a lot of photographers it would put me on the fence about getting it.

They've actually added a ridiculous amount of photographers. Many locations that never had photographers are now almost always staffed.

Thank you for the positive report. That is very encouraging. We get our money's worth as we do meet and greets and always used to buy ride photos so anything else is a bonus, but it's a lot of money for people who don't do many thrill rides (which account for a good proportion of the ride photos) if there aren't many photographers around the parks!

Did I read it somewhere (or maybe I dreamed it :confused3), that they would be adding pics to more rides? I think POTC was one mentioned.

Anyone able to verify this?

I read a rumor somewhere that if you have Memory Maker on your Magic Band, you don't have to stop by the counter after rides and have the picture added; it does it automatically. Is this true?

Completely unsubstantiated rumor. Pirates: let's blind people before the darkest part of the ride so that they can't see anything for the rest of the attraction.

Patently false. Unless you want to get zero ride photos heh.

you really have to be proactive in your search for photographers.
Last year I went for one day with honey and my grand daughter- we managed 77 pictures in that time. We went with 16 family members in dec and had over 700 pictures-- all before editing.

Sometimes these photographers look like regular tourist-- (like the guy in France with the Efle tower in the back-- i thought he was just a disney groupie like myself.

If this is the case and I am not doubting your sources...then where are they? I am asking because we are debating on the MM and I will absolutely not spend my precious vacation hours in search of a Photopass Photographer. I know that sounded really awful and "madlike"...it's just how I feel. Nothing directed at you at all.

For the past few years we have gotten the packages and each year it gets worse. Last year I had 3 pictures that I actually printed out. I think I have answered my own question!

Well they haven't shot the studios arch consistently in a long time and it's up almost every day now. Used to only have 2 photographers at the hat meet and greet - chip and dale and stitch never ever had a photographer now they do often. I had never seen a chip and dale photographer in future world before and now it's almost a daily thing. Same with the Incredibles in feature animation - used to be a maybe 1pm-3pm thing now they're out more often. Heck fairy godmother had one the other day. That never used to happen. And radio is planet watch has a photographer there which hadn't been done in years.

Many of the lesser used locations are now more often staffed by photographers now. Even Disney jr didn't necessarily always have a photographer but I can't remember the last time I didn't see one. About the only M&G locations that don't have a photographer most of the time are Mary poppins and the Tarzan folk and that's because they aren't allowed to have photographers.
