I think I will only get 1 tag for myself on my December trip. I'll have 2 bags because I am going on a cruise. Do I have to pick up 1 bag at luggage claim?

I've always gotten two tags per person. I know because we checked 4 bags for 3 people last time. Maybe because we fly Southwest and they include 2 free bags is why we got 2 each?

They stopped sending 2 tags per person several years ago.

I had two tags for each of us two weeks ago. Maybe I used half the tag? I definitely had four bags with yellow tags on them for three people, and two extras that I put in my purse.

Each tag is about 12" long. You really shouldn't tear them in half - you can't attach them properly if you do.

If for some reason you don't receive the second tag in time, you can proceed to the DME desk and give them your claim ticket from the airline. They can retrieve your bag with that information and still deliver it for you.

I just make a a second tag. I put yellow paper in my printer, make a copy of the tag. Cut it into a strip and tape it with the tape you use for shipping packages. It's clear and strong and works perfectly.
