First,I gotta say I LOVE these shoes! I've been wearing them around to make sure they will be comfortable walking all those Disney miles! I'm wondering how they get in the heat if my feet sweat or the shoes get wet on a ride. Do they get slippery? that won't be good...:goofy:

thanks everyone!

I have two pairs of Newport H2's, one with the rubbery sole and one with a leather sole. With the regular rubbery sole, I never had a problem with them getting slippery or anything when they are wet. And I've worn them many times to go kayaking or swimming in lakes, where they've been completely submerged. They dry out pretty quickly, and really are great all around shoes (I wear them hiking as well). I have worn them with socks at DW, just to give my feet some more cushion, but that obviously makes them feel warmer. Without socks, they've never given me problems.

The ones with the leather soles, on the other hand, did feel slippery after getting wet (I've never worn those completely in the water). But they still dried pretty quickly. With those, I found it more comfortable to wear socks, as they didn't seem to breathe as well as the rubber sole for some reason. The great thing about Newports is that you can wear a really low cut sock and they are pretty much completely hidden around your ankle.

Thanks! I meant to say "slippery inside the shoe" when it got wet.

That's what I meant, I guess "sole" wasn't really the correct word. The inside of the Keens with rubbery bottoms don't seem slippery to me. The ones that have a leather footbed do seem slippery when wet.

We love keens. Don't worry about the miles at Disney...I wore mine for 10 days at WDW without breaking them it (I had just discovered them days before the trip). They were wonderful....my legs/feet were never tired.

My husband weighs 270 and he did the same thing and had no problems. Also, Keens are guaranteed for 1 year, so keep your receipt. My husband's tore after we had had them for 11 months and Keen replaced them no questions asked.

The inside of the shoe seems to stay dry when walking around, but I have never worn them to WDW in July (we usually go in January)!

I'll have to check tonight when I get home. I can tell you this, the shoe(inside) smells great! Its very comfortable!
Thanks again for your help!

After reading about them on here I bought a pair for myself as well as my DH on ebay, then found a pair for both my kids too. After wearing them in WDW for a week I swear by them!! None of us had any problems, even my picky kid had no problems walking the whole time. My DH did put powder in his on the really hot days to keep from sticking, but I didn't see it as a problem. I love the fact that the kids can go soak their feet and I don't have to yell at them to stop...they are sush a versitile shoe!

I have found myself wearing them more and more, even over my gazzilons of flip flops that I have!
