1 day to go and son has allergic reaction

Funny epi-pen story....

We carry one all the time but have never had to use on on DGS 3. The first time DH was taking him off without me after the diagnosis I was going to show him how to use the epi-pen. I HAD the tester out. Somehow he had also laid out the REAL epi-pen. Picked up the wrong one and YEP.. did it on me!!:confused3
AT least I am sure how to use it!!!! :goodvibes

I've got a funny epi-pen story, too! My daughter's friend carries an epi-pen with her & left it on our table where my 16 yr old son decides to investigate it. Long story short he walks in my room with an epi-pen sticking out of his thumb! I'm sure the look on my face was priceless because I wasn't even worried about him, all I could think was "HOW Did YOU GET AN EPI-PEN STUCK IN YOUR THUMB?" Well, it wouldn't come out! My husband gets home and he couldn't even get it out and he's a doctor! It ended up hitting the bone and bending! After x-rays and more needles to numb his thumb he came home all bandaged up with his ego bruised! We laughed about that for months!:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Aren't we nice parents?

(On my son's defense he barely touched it and since it's spring loaded it shot the needle out!)

Maybe a dumb question but - how can you tell if the pjs have flame retardant in them?? :confused3 I mostly buy only cotton pjs.... Would it say on the label?

:)

I am :rotfl2::rotfl2: here!!!! To funny!!

To the original poster-I would assume it was the lavender. My DD is also allergic to lavender as well as other things. We use only F&C detergent and I have to order all natural/organic lotions and oils for her. She also has excema, food allergies and possible asthma. Poor kiddo takes after her Mama. I carry and epi-pen for an allergy to walnuts that causes my tongue to swell and I cannot swallow.

The regular Oxyclean is too much for me as well. I break out in a rash. They make a dye and fragrance free oxyclean that works for me ;)

Where do you buy that? My daughter and I have sensitive skin, (so far the regular Oxyclean is OK), but I'd love to switch just so I don't have to worry about my mom having a reaction if she uses one of our towels!

At least you are prepared to use the epipen if necessary. I know a family that still won't use the epipen when their child has SEVERE food allergies. He has gone into anaphylaxis many times. They drive to the hospital instead of using the epipen THEN driving to the hospital. The poor little boy has gotten very close to his airway completely closing. The doctors and ER staff have lectured them. Still they don't use it :sad2: Breaks my heart to think about how scary that must be for him. And then, angry that they won't give the child a shot to save his life and instead take that gamble

:scared1: I can't believe they won't use the Epi!!! The next time they end up in the ER, the ER doc needs to make them give the epipen right there. It is frightening to think about giving it, but once you've done it, and you see how quickly it works, you'll never hesitate again. We've only had to give DS's once, but it worked like magic. He was all better within like 2 minutes!! (We stayed the night in "observation" at the ER, though, of course). --Katie

:lmao: OMG that would totally be how we reacted to this.

When I am teaching first aid classes I use trainer epi-pens. Just because I am who I am, I usually say, "I THINK they are all trainers". While most people know I am joking, there is usually at least one person who drops the pen. :rotfl2:

I actually think it is the shower gel. It was filled with fruity extracts like papaya. That is a fruit he has never had.

BTW I am loving the epi pen stories.

It says on the label. But when I worked at Babies R Us (this has been a few years ago), I was told that most all pajamas in size 12 months and up are suppose to be flame retardant because thats the walking age 12 months (and up) so its suppose to protect them if the grab a candle, touch a stove etc (just some examples). Im sure this has probably change because I havent worked at babies r us in YEARS.
