1 crazy family+2 resorts+5 parks+1 snake+1 surprise=A Mickeystoontown report 4/3x2

I'm still here! We were on a cruise last week so I'm getting caught up.:sail::drinking1
No Mission Space for me, anxiety and claustrophobia kick in big time. Best to sit out on the bench and be the official bag holder! Glad you didnt need the barf bag, but its always fun to watch peoples reactions around when you act like you may need it.

Glad to hear that you're still around. I was beginning to worry that I had offended someone with some of my silliness! Yay for a cruise! Where'd you go? What'd you do? What'd you eat? I wanna know!

There's no way that my Mama could get on Mission Space. She has a hard time with dressing rooms.

I refuse to do the orange side. So kudos to you for surviving....especially so soon after lunch.

Up until this trip, I had only done the orange side. Lacey has a weird ticker (heart) and she's afraid to do the orange side anymore.

I'm always here reading and doing the lurkyloo thing. I just don't comment much cause I feel like everyone has already said what I was going to say and it gets redundant. You know what I mean. We did Mission Space Green and I didn't feel anything at all.... You sat there. Pushed a button.... and it was over. So, I want to do orange on the next trip but don't know if my kiddos will be up for it.

I don't care if you post something that's redundant so feel free to post any time that you'd like. I didn't feel much on the green side either (we did it later in the trip). The orange side is much better! Hopefully, you can try it out sometime.

Loved your photos outside of MS. They really turned out lovely. Amazed that you were able to take photos while spinning right round! ;) Glad you all felt OK after riding, but I'm with your Mama. I would just be hanging around sitting on a bench and people watching! It would all be good. I wouldn't feel as if I'd missed a thing.

I have at least a half dozen more pictures that are just of my legs or of just the word "NAVIGATOR" so I didn't do too terribly well. :rotfl:

Mission Space is another one I have yet to try. Can you tell we didn't spend too much time at Epcot? I'm afraid to try it though. The older I get, the more nauseous I feel on spinning rides. Maybe I'll try the green side next time. We'll see.

I love your barfing pictures. They made me smile.

The first year that we went to Epcot, I felt like we had wasted our money. Of course, that was back in the day when I didn't know about the Disboards or guide books, etc.

If I were you, I'd do the green side and see how you feel. I'm betting that you'd be fine.

Hi Lisa! Loved the updates!!! I will honestly say I'm not the biggest fan of Mission Space! I have been on it several times but I always come off feeling very dizzy & with a headache! :upsidedow So I usually skip it!

Also, I am always here following along!! I just don't get to respond too often because I'm usually reading from my phone and it's annoying when I have to type a lot on there. So I usually only respond when I'm on the actual computer, like now!! ;)

I can certainly see why some wouldn't like Mission Space. It can give you a really dizzy feeling.

Thanks for letting me know that you're still here and reading!

I was always too worried to do the orange side as I'd heard so many stories about people feeling ill after riding. But I eventually did it and couldn't feel enough difference to warrant doing it so still continue on the green side :rotfl2:

Back when the attraction first opened, there wasn't the green side option so all that we ever knew was the orange side. I guess once we realized that it didn't bother us, we never thought to try the green side.

Hi Lisa
I am still here..lurking more than commenting!
Too bad Hunter and hia clasa won't be going :( that is disappointing. .
We we will be at WDW next Thursday for our 15th anniversary! !! Sooooo can't wait!

Hey! Good to see ya!

Poor Hunter Man was disappointed that they aren't going to Disney.

Yay! Yay! Yay! You're going to Disney soooon! Happy early anniversary!

Well now you have us all out of hiding! I too am too chicken to do this ride. Not going to lie I have been trying to talk my hubby and kids out of it because if one of them gets sick I'm the one who is going to have to deal with it! Blech..and I'm a joiner! Looks like you will be going right after me this spring!

Seeeeeee.....the outside posting world ain't so bad is it? :lmao:

Yeah, I can see how the mom in the family would be left tending to the barfer. Just like a Mama is supposed to do.

I forgot to look at your ticker.....we're going to narrowly miss each other?

I'm still here!!:wave2: Things have been so crazy around here that I haven't read any tr's since the beginning of Oct. It took me 2 days but I'm caught up on yours.

Good to see you again! Ya'll been doing okay?

There are to many things to comment on so I'll just say.....

I'm so sorry to hear about Hunter's school trip. I know that must have been hard to get all excited about it and then find out its off. At least he still get to go this year.

He was both angry and disappointed. He was looking forward to seeing Disney with his friends.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to get on the Mom's Panel!:thumbsup2

Thank you!

I've never done the orange side of MS because I know I would get sick. I have a very weak stomach. We did Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, and Everest in a row and I didn't think I was gonna make it out of the park:sick: I think River would probably like it.

Oooh, I think you need to stick to the green side. Don't want to have to make use of the barf bags.

I'm going to try really hard to stay caught up now :)

I know that it's tough. I fall behind a lot!

You're a braver woman than I, and with a stronger stomach too! I am also 1) Claustrophobic, I am not B) a heart patient, I also do not consider myself iii) stupid. (I knew I recognized that but couldn't think from where! :lmao: )
I've done green team but the claustrophobia makes it hard! I've certainly never gotten photos on the ride, too busy reminding myself to breath. :rotfl:

You're the first person who caught the 1) B) iii). I can see why you'd forget to breath on Mission Space if you are claustrophobic. It's a tight place you're squeezed into.

Thank ya'll for letting me know that you're still around and reading. I worry sometimes that people thinking that my joking/kidding/picking around is too much. In this day and time, there's so much that we can get down in the dumps about and if I can put a smile on somebody's face, then by golly gosh darn it....I'm gonna try and do it!

Are ya'll ready for this? I have another installment written and will be posting it in just a few minutes. I just wanted to comment though....where is everybody? There's hardly anyone who posts any more? Did I do something wrong? What's up buttercups?

Just want to let you know I'm still here.

How's the Mom's Panel video coming along? Have you sent it in yet?

Hi! I am still here. I am going crazy here getting everything going with our house. We are in the countdown zone.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!! I hope you all had a good one. We had a busy night trick or treating here.

Yes we are doing OK. Thank you for asking:)

I'm still here! Just caught up on the last couple updates.

I went on Mission space for the first time in our last trip in 2011. I really wanted to go the previous trip but DH wouldn't go. I went with my dad, my (now ex-) BIL and his dad. My dad and his dad and I went green. I kind of wanted to try orange but I was nervous, now that I did green I think I can handle Orange. I actually used to really like those carnival rides where you stick to the wall and I have heard that is what it is like.

In 2004, I was there with my DH and our friend, it hadn't been open that long (this is before they separated orange/green) and we chickened out because we couldn't get anyone to tell us what it did. This is before I knew about the DIS and Youtube.

The cruise! Well we were supposed to be on the Magic going out on 10/20/13 but Disney called us on 10/17/13 and canceled because they didnt finish all of the dry dock rehab!!!:sad::sad::sad: <---- This is what I did at work.
Well because the friends that we were traveling with are more awesome than awesome (would that be awesomer or the awesomest?) found another cruise for all of us to catch 10/21. We went on the Norwegian Sky out of Miami to Grand Bahama, Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay. We had a great time, the crew was fantastic, the boat was small and not all blinged out but it was really nice!. The food, OMG!!, lobster, lamb, lobster, sea bass, those creamy powdered eggs on the buffet (yes I'm weird and love these), smoked salmon every morning with breakfast. They did poolside food everyday, Paella, grilled meat, tacos, nachos. There was food everywhere and it was all fantastic. We did the Ultimate Beverage Package which included alcohol and soda, it worked out well for us. Ahh poolside mojitos at 10 am, hey its vacation am allowed to do that right?! I'm not a huge fan of Nassau so I got off for a few minutes then went back to the empty pools. We were looking forward to going to Great Stirrup Cay but because the water was too rough we didnt get to go. They have to tender everyone in and it just wasnt safe so we had an at sea day. It was a great cruise we had a ball and would definately go again.

The best thing about it though is because Disney canceled the original cruise and in true Disney fashion they refunded all the money back AND gave us another 5 night Disney cruise free, yes thats right free!! So we rebooked back on the Magic with our awesomest friends for 12/4/13 which works out great because we get off the boat on her birthday!

I'm here too and loving every minute of your reports. I just tend towards lurking more than posting. I should post more since I'm writing a TR and love it when people comment on mine. I wouldn't worry though, I think you probably have a ton of lurkers like me. I just checked and your thread has had over 147,000 views!!

Hi Lisa!!! I'm still around, too!!! Boy, you were the updating fool weren't you??!! Awesome! Your sense of humor is contagious! (goodness I hope I spelled that right!) :rotfl2: So, Lacey got a pin code -- Good for her. I really, really, desperately want one for my March trip. I have the general room-only discount, but I want Free Dining, baby!!! :confused3 I was sorry to hear about Hunter's band trip. That's a bummer, but I can understand. Finances are tight for all right now (thus my wanting a Free Dining code!) so I can understand. I just try to give Victoria the opportunity to do as many things as she can while in school. Anyways, look forward to more!!! :coffee:

Yay! I'm glad that you're still laughing away at our crazy antics. Lacey and Jesse are trying to figure out their exact days so they can go ahead and book. The pin that I received included free dining but was very limited and ended on 3/5.

Just want to let you know I'm still here.

How's the Mom's Panel video cojing along? Have you sent it in yet?

Thanks for letting me know! :wave2:

I sent in the video and the answers a while back. Now, it's another waiting game until we find out if we made it to round 3.

Hi! I am still here. I am going crazy here getting everything going with our house. We are in the countdown zone.

Yay for being in the countdown zone! I know that you're more than ready for it to be THE day!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!! I hope you all had a good one. We had a busy night trick or treating here.

Yes we are doing OK. Thank you for asking:)

Thank you! We didn't have a single trick-or-treater. The weather was horrible yesterday and we live waaaay down at a dead end so kids are usually scared to come to our house anyway.

You should try the orange side. Honestly, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Gotta love youtube!

Would ya take a look at all those scars! Things that make you go “hum?”.

Having survived Mission Space, we went looking for Mama and there she was, sitting in the exact same spot as when we left. I don’t often get super sappy but this was one of the times that I did. To see my nearly 80 year old mother sitting on a bench at Epcot, just enjoying her time people watching made me smile. She was completely content and happy. :lovestruc

**Ya’ll can skip this part if you don’t want to read about non-Disney things. I email my installments to one of my sisters to read and I’m going to edit this portion out for her. They don't Dis so I'm safe. I don’t want to hurt their feelings or make them feel uncomfortable. That’s not my intention.

I have two sisters who live less than ten minutes away from us. They have to drive right by our road on their way to and from work and home. They’ll call Mama several times a week but they rarely stop by to see her. Yeah, we see them on special occasions....holidays, birthdays, just because I want to invite everybody over days....but they don’t take the time to simply stop. We see my Mama every single day. I see her aging. I see her walking a little slower. I see HER. I see MY Mama. I am not saying that they don’t care because they really really do. They simply do not think about stopping.

My father died in 1992 when he was just 62 years old. My mother has been a widow for a long long time. We have lived next to her for almost 20 years. We have maintained the yards, fences, homes, etc. all this time.

If Mama is in the hospital, my sisters will take off work to help because they don’t have kids at home any more. But, when Mama comes home, it’s pretty much mine and John’s responsibility and I am fine with that. I owe that to my Mama. To put it quite bluntly....Mama wiped my butt and I’ll wipe her’s if that’s what is needed. Again, not saying that my sisters won’t help but I know that it will mostly be on my shoulders.

The “cousins” (my aunt, uncle, and cousins) that used to travel are all too old to go on trips by themselves. I know that if my Mama is going to travel, chances are that it’s going to be with us. I know this. That’s why we ask Mama to go with us almost every single time we go out of town. Whether it be for a weekend road trip, trips to Georgia to see Lacey when she was in the mission, a four day trip to Tennessee or to Walt Disney World. The majority of times that we go out to eat at a restaurant, we ask Mama if she wants to go. If I am going shopping and know that Mama may need something from the mall, I ask her to go. It’s just what I do. Is it what my sisters do? No, it’s not. They simply do not think about it.

Does Mama drive us all nutso with her worrying? ::yes::: With her “whoop whoop whoop” noises when we were driving through Atlanta? ::yes::: Is her obsession with looking at the mapquest directions a bit much at times? ::yes::: Yes to them all. ::yes:::

I say all this to go back to the sappy part that I was referring to above. I would not trade a single minute that I spend with my Mama. Well, there was that time that she ‘bout drove me nuts in the fabric store trying to pick out fabric for her curtains and it took us almost four hours and then she took the crap back the next day. :sad2: Other than that, nope wouldn’t trade a minute of the time that we spend with her.

**Start back here if you didn’t read the above paragraphs.

There was my Mama sitting on the bench and taking it all in. Perfectly content, she was. We still had some time to kill before we could use our Soarin’ fastpasses so we decided to spend our time seeing Ellen mocking Stupid Judy and spending time with Bill Nye The Science Guy:

When we got in line, we were right on the edge of the shade provided by the building. Of course, we wanted Mama to stand in the shade so she stood over to the side a little and we stood in the sun. There were quite a few people ahead of us. Including a Spanish speaking group. Their kids were running everywhere and pushing their way through people. Including between myself and Mama. They seriously pushed through the two of us and it was a hard enough push that we almost stumbled. I was pissed! Before we could say something, two of the kids pushed their way through the family in front of us and said "Excuse me. I sit down." Mama looked them straight in the eye and said "Where do you expect me to go?" The parents looked at us and made their kids move down towards them. But, in the process, they knocked the legs of some of the other people in front of us. Made me so mad! :furious:

I know that a lot of folks don’t like Ellen’s Universe of Energy but we enjoy it. I say WE. John usually sleeps after the piggy bank, the ding dang, I mean, the big bang explosion. It’s not that he doesn’t like it, it’s just that he needs a little nap and this is the best place to do it. :p

After Ellen, it was time to use our Fastpasses for Soarin’! This is Mama’s favorite attraction in all of Walt Disney World. She smiles and laughs like a little girl. I love seeing her reaction. Looks like Hunter was pretty excited too:

I’m looking at the next picture and I don’t remember it being 3:35 p.m. when we rode Soarin’ but that’s what the picture says. Makes me wonder what else we did and I didn't take pictures of....maybe Spaceship Earth or Club Cool?

Mama was just as delighted with this Soarin’ ride as she was in the years past. She loves it! :goodvibes We had dinner ADRs in World Showcase and we had pretty much seen what we wanted to see in Future World so we started towards Mexico. Stopping, though, to take a few pictures of the Monster’s University topiaries:

**Continued in next post

We made it to Mexico:

Mama wanted to look at the glass figurines in the glass shop. Lucky for us, the glass blower was there. Actually, he didn’t blow any glass. He molded and shaped it. Wonder what that title would be called? Glassmoldershaperer? Maybe? :rolleyes2

There were too many people standing in front so we stood to the side:

John noticed it before the rest of us did. The guy had scars all over his arms and hands. We figured they were burn marks. I guess the guy didn’t do so well in his “watch out, that’s hot” class.

We stood for quite some time trying to figure out what he was making. He’d pull the glass this way, get it hot again, tap on it and then pull it another way. What would it turn out to be? Things that make you go hum?

More and more people came in to watch and we were getting more and more smooshed in even on the side. Mama picked out her glass figure and we set off again. But, not before stopping in the small jewelry store right beside the glass shop.

**Up next: I wonder what that could be?:confused3

I just love your comments about your Mama. ::yes:: My own mom and her sister are tending my Grandma now, who is in a nursing home. I watch them both, and see that they both really do care and they both take the time to see my Grandma as much as they can.

I am learning the right thing to do by watching them, because I know that someday I will be doing that for my own parents. I have a brother....and brothers don't tend to be AWARE enough in those situations of what is needed. :rolleyes1 My mom and her sister have a brother too....who is not AWARE enough either. Like your sisters, he sees her on holidays. :faint: You are setting a wonderful example for your children, and you will be taken care of when it is time too! :goodvibes

Can't wait to see what the glassmoldershaperer is molding and shaping! popcorn::

Thank you for your kind words! I am sure that you are a wonderful daughter and will know exactly what needs to be done when it's time. It's sad that other family members aren't more aware.

I have always been a "people person" and a "touchy feely" person. I like it when I bring joy to others and help others. Just ask any Diser that I've met. More than likely, I'm gonna hug ya! :rotfl:

I love what you said about your Momma. My mom died 16 years ago when I was 18 and I miss her more than words can say. I was always close to my maternal Grandma, but after losing my mom, we became closer than ever. Sadly, she passed away 8 years ago at 87 years old and it was like losing my mom all over again. It's incredibly unfortunate that people don't realize what they have until it is gone. And I am a firm believer that you never get too old for your mom. I know that you will never regret a single moment you spend with her and are so blessed to have mountains of memories to relive all the days of you and your children's lives.

Thank ya'll for letting me know that you're still around and reading. I worry sometimes that people thinking that my joking/kidding/picking around is too much.

There's no such thing as too much joking & kidding around!!:rotfl:

So glad I was finally able to catch up, though I confess to using the links only & missing any of the good "in between" stuff.

A few things...

great SeaWorld shots!

FABULOUS 24 hour day at the MK for Hunter's birthday. Love how your boy is right on it photo-documenting their night while you took Mama home. You all just have such a great time there Lisa. It shows in all your photos.

What an absolutely amazing shot you had on BTMRR of the mountains in the front & the castle in the back.

Loved your dancing shots...

Seriously I laughed out loud so many times sitting on my front porch last night reading your TR on my nook. I couldn't post a reply (its a pain) but I felt like you were right next to me telling me all about it. With a drawl!!!

and thanks for sharing the Duck DYnasty connection. I did not know that but now I all makes sense. Your Donald interaction is so funny. Donald is such a funny duck, enough people don't appreciate his quest for #1....he quacks me up every time :)

you made Mission:Space seem so innocent. I've always passed on that one. Never been fond of re-tasting my food.

I'll try not to get so far behind.

BTW I do hope you make it the Mom's panel - you'd be great at it!!!

OH I know what else I wanted to comment on ....the Wave. first, we ate there earlier this month and really enjoyed it. but you made me chuckle over the family interactions & john not feeling so hot. I'm glad that eventually he returned more to "himself" despite maybe a few tense moments. That happens in every family, doesn't it? for a variety of reasons!

Keep the story & the comedy coming Lisa!
