I will staying at Old Key West with the inlaws from Sunday, Feb. 18-Sunday, Feb. 25.(The weekly itinerary has been deteremined) I have a chance to leave arrive in Orlando on Friday night instead and was thinking of staying at a Universal Resort for 2 nights. I would arrive at 11 pm on Friday evening and need to be at Old Key West around 2 pm on Sunday.. Is this enough time to enjoy a short stint at Universal? (We have never been!) I would have all day and night on Saturday and Sunday until around 1 pm. (Traveling with my wife and 11 year old daughter...she loves thrill rides!)

Let me preface my advice by saying that I have not been to UO or IOA yet, so am just relaying info I have gotten from others while planning my own trip.

Is 1.5 days enough, as with many things the answer is "it depends". If you want to try and do it here is my advice:
1) Stay at a universal owned resort (Royal Pacific, Porofino or Hard Rock). By doing this you get front of the line privledges, which means you show your room key card to the cm and they let you into a fastpass type line. From what I have read from other posters this will guarantee that you can literally walk on to rides even during busy times. If you only have a short time to spend, this would be a life saver.

2) Prioritize what it is you want to do in the parks. This is kind of a no brainer but you don't want to be disappointed if you can't hit every ride.

Other than this, I think you could see a fair chunk of both parks, and probably thouroughly tour just 1, in the time you have. Good luck and have fun! :wizard:

Sure it is enough! We have done both parks in a day at the height of spring break madness. I wouldn't recommend that, by the way... :-) In 1.5 days you can get around both parks and enjoy yourself as long as you decide ahead of time you aren't going to run yourself ragged trying to see and do everything. I'm really not an advocate of planning everything (or much of anything).

Take a look at the park website and figure out what things interest you most. I personally would spend the long day at IOA and the short day at US. Go to the really popular rides first and then drift from thing to thing. No sense spending extra money for park hoppers when you only have a day and a half anyway.

For a 1st timer visitor I would say go with US on the long day. US takes longer to do IMHO if planning on trying to do everything. Now for me, it's a no brainer, I would end up at IOA on the longer day.

If you get there about 30 min before posted opening time you should be able to walk right onto the most popular rides

While i wouldn't recommend it, it should be enough time to enjoy yourself. I know that I was usually fine with a one day trip over to Universal and IOA, but I've been there a lot and really knew wat i wanted to do. So make sure you have a gameplan, and you should be fine.

and staying on site, or buying express passes wuld definitley help.
