*1/3 New Trip Report* Pole Dancing and Food Porn

Wow. I;m sure you daughter was thrilled! (Heck, I would be thrilled, and I'm not 5 anymore....more like 35....plus a year or two...:rolleyes1)

Wow!!! What an amazing view from every angle! Love it and I wouldn't want to leave either...well, I never do! ;)

Wow. That is an incredible view. We have garden view too, I'm amazed you got the castle.

That is an amazing view. I watched Wishes from the balcony every night last year.

Are you planning a return trip to the Poly?

OMG!! That is amazing! What more can be said??!!! Now you have me more stoked than ever to stay there in Sept!!! I know I'll not get a room like that since we're getting just normal view (ie. less outrageously expensive), but oh the grounds, the sounds, and the pounds (thinking ahead to 'Ohana :lmao:).

Words cannot express how darned tootin' excited I am!

i am also a drifter from wigd's report, oh, and you are just as entertaining, your sense of humour is right up my alley, i got my morning laughs over my am coffee!:surfweb::rotfl:
can't wait to hear some more!

Thanks y'all. I have to admit I got a little teary eyed looking at that amazing view. It shouldn't matter that much what it looks like outside the window, but honestly it was like I had drifted into paradise. I could feel my whole body relax. Something about the culmination of a year of planning and wishing and dreaming was just the most amazing feeling. I love being the planner of our trips!

I'm glad you followed wigd over here. I'm having fun sharing our trip! I'm getting ready to write an update about MNSSHP so hang on, more's on the way!

We woke up around 5:30 and started to get ready for the Halloween party. I had put the kids' outfits in rolls. Each roll was put together with masking tape with the day and time (Tuesday evening) written on it. So it was easy for them to know what to wear. I would really recommend this, especially if there is more than one adult. It was great for having Granmouse or Sam help them get dressed (since Grammie & I were the ones who had planned the outfits.)

Lily was dressed as Minnie Mouse. I had an ebayer make her dress and bought her ears from an etsy seller. Morgan was at first going to dress as his "main man Goof", but then he got a little shy about wearing a costume. He saw some Halloween fabric that the ebayer had and asked for a shirt made out of that fabric. I also had matching shirts made for the adults.

I don't have great pictures from that night. (You'll soon see why.) There are some good photopass pictures that I'll share as soon as I get them. There's a few of all of us that are halfway good on there.

While we were waiting on the boat to the MK, Morgan all of the sudden decided he had to go to the bathroom and jumped up off the bench on the dock. Sam had just gotten up to go with him when Morgan screamed and ran off. Sam followed him and we (the girls) just sat there in shock. I really thought that he was sick and we would have to stay at the Poly. Some minutes later, the boys came back down the dock. Turns out, Morgan had gotten his finger stuck in the bench when he got up and that's what the screaming was about! :rotfl: shew....

Finally, we left the Poly at about 6:30 and took the boat over to the MK. I love riding the boat even though it's probably not as fast as the monorail. There's just something about traveling by boat that's so cool!

Not a great picture of Morgan but you can see his shirt.

Morgan had spent all morning wanting to ride "the cars" (Tomorrowland Speedway). I had put him off because they are so freakin' boring and I had an itinerary to follow, darn it! :lmao: But the first thing on my MNSSHP list was just "ride rides" as we felt like it so I promised him that we would head there first.

Remember those gorgeous blue skies from earlier in the day? Well, we had been so impressed with them that we hadn't bothered to bring our ponchos with. (Do you see where this is going??) Sam and Granmouse took the kids to ride the Speedway while I waited with Grammie and her ECV.

This was the line they waited in.
DSC_0008.jpg

Can you perhaps see the pink and grey umbrella in front of them? The one that is not part of the ride? Well, that smart party goer had decided to bring along her umbrella which she now needed because it was raining.

Meanwhile, back with the waiting two (me & Grammie) we moved from the trees to Cosmic Ray's (where we quickly discovered that those umbrellas have holes in them! What's up with that??) and then to Star Trader's where at least we were inside. Friends, it was not just raining, it was freakin' POURING!! Like "5 inches of water on the ground to slog through" pouring!

It was the funniest thing to see the people in that store pulling out the ponchos to sell. Away goes anything else on the counter and out comes the clear Mickey ponchos. Yep, we bought some. $37.49 worth of Disney ponchos when we had perfectly good ponchos in the room. But hey! they were worth it at the time! Even if they were rather like a sauna inside.

I, of course, was quite upset that this rain was ruining my perfectly laid out plans. Rain on a party night means cancellation and no refunds! One thing I love about my husband is that he knows just what to say when I'm beating myself up. Did he say "Why didn't you wait until you saw the weather report to decide when we'd go to the party??" No! He said, "Calm down. It's your birthday. Let's go ride some rides. If the party gets canceled, then we'll buy tickets for Thursday night and try again!"

We waded through the rain to the TTA which Morgan had seen above the Speedway and wanted to ride. It was interesting to watch the CMs checking for bracelets and not letting people on the rides without one. I liked riding the TTA and getting to see what they were working on at Space Mountain.

My plan had been to wander around and try and meet characters and head over to the Haunted Mansion, but it was raining too hard to wander, so we stayed in Tomorrowland. We went on Buzz Lightyear next. Buzz had been Morgan's favorite ride the last time we visited so I was really excited to see him on it. The lines were almost nonexistent so we ended up riding Buzz twice.

On the way out, the kids got taken to prison by the evil emperor Zurg.

But Morgan escaped!

(By the way, notice the ponchos and the soaking wet children!)

Then we headed to the thing Grammie had been waiting for: Laugh inc. Comedy Show. Grammie is a HUGE Monsters Inc. fan and she was very excited to see the show. We waited for a few minutes (maybe 5) for the show to start and then headed in to see Mikey!

Sam got the "this man doesn't find any of this humorous" title, and we all laughed with Mike and AT Roz!

When we excited the Laugh Factory we realized that the rain had mostly stopped!

In 2006 Morgan had ridden the Haunted Mansion and his memory of it was that it was really scary. HM is one of my favorite rides and I really wanted to ride it at night. I had talked it up to Morgan forever and he had finally agreed to ride it if I'd sit with him and "hold his hand." (AND if I promised not to make him ride BTMRR again, but that's a story for another day....) We walked over toward HM taking a few ghostly pictures along the way.

Then we were there: the Haunted Mansion!
DSC_0028.jpg

Morgan was scared at first, but he quickly discovered that it was all silly and both kids ended up loving it! I loved doing it at night and there was absolutely no line. When we got finished, the line was down the street and I realized that the first parade was over. Waiting for the late parade was such good advice. We got so much done during that time!

Our last stop before checking out the Halloween festivities was the Hall of Presidents. I wanted to see the new version and there was just enough time before the fireworks so we headed in. Before we did, we took a picture of the kids with the liberty bell. I know this is dark, but I loved that Morgan decided to salute in the picture. Also, you can almost see Lily's sultry pose here that led it to start calling her "madam minnie" (at least to each other if not to her...

Continued in the next post: Halloween fireworks, villains, and parade

After we left the Hall of Presidents, we went to find a place to watch Hallowishes. While I carried Lily on my shoulders, Sam went to find a good place for picture taking. And find one he did! Feel free to skip through these pictures, but I couldn't pick just one. I think they're amazing (and this is picking 24 out of the 100 or so he took. Here they are:

Grammie decided to leave during the fireworks as she was getting really tired so she headed back to the Poly. The rest of us found a great seat in front of the castle as most people were leaving the park after Hallowishes. Not us, we were ready for the Villain show!

Everything was fine at first as we were all sitting patiently in front of the castle.

DSC_0099.jpg

Unfortunately, two jerky (and perhaps drunk?? Or just naturally obnoxious?? :confused3) came and stood right in front of us. The man used the woman's shoulder to prop up his video camera so we couldn't even see between them. Of course, by this time the ground is crowded and there's no place to move to and sit. And we're right at the edge of the street so we're going to have a great spot for the parade after the show. So we stuck it out. Sam had gone behind us (so he wouldn't get in the way of the people who were sitting...) and took some shots of the show.

After the show was over, Lily wanted to meet the "scary queen" so she went up to get in line. Morgan was having none of those scary people so he stayed right next to his Mama! :lmao: Apparently, the queen told Lily that she had mice in her castle bigger than her, and she better watch out or she might get squashed. (Lily thought that was the funniest thing she'd ever heard.)

While we were waiting for the parade to start, the Queen of Hearts came out and began entertaining the crowd. She found a girl who was dressed as Alice and they proceeded to have a very funny exchange.

The girl was a great sport!

And then here came the parade!

I wish I had gotten a picture of Morgan when he saw Goofy. It brought tears to my eyes. He had seen Goofy earlier when he was dressed in his cowboy gear, but that didn't seem to make a difference. But this, oh, this was his "main man Goof" and he was enamored! His jaw dropped and his eyes sparkled and he was so in love!!! I'm so glad Goofy ended the parade -- it didn't get any better than that.

We had two very tired munchkins as we headed out of the MK, but it was an amazing evening. We got back to the Poly around 11:30 and all fell into bed!!

MNSSHP: We would definitely do it again! I was sad that we didn't get to meet many characters. I think because of the rain they just weren't out the way they usually are. (Or maybe I'm just too dumb to know where to look?) But it was such a cool night anyway and the kids really felt like they were getting something special to dress up and stay at the MK late at night. The advice to ride during the first parade and then wait for the second was great advice and we got done almost all of my planned itinerary for Tomorrowland.

Up Next: What's this Mania thing all about?

Came to your trip report through your signature in another thread and I am loving it so far! Your kids are adorable.

Shann, I'm really enjoying your trip report. The Hallowishes pictures are AMAZING! Do you know what kind of camera your husband has and what setting he used?

AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! What a perfect room with a perfect view! I know your little girl must have been overjoyed to open the curtains and see that! We have a 5 year old and her head probably would have spun off if she could have seen that from our room.

When we went to MNSSHP we did the same thing...waited to see the second parade and rode during the first parade. It was great!

Heathwood Hall Class of 1988 - we seem to have alot in common Shann!:cool2:

And I am enjoying your trip report - thanks!!:thumbsup2

Oh that view at the Poly brought a tear to my eye-AWESOME!! Great pics from MNSSHP! Sounds like such a fun night for all of you!

Hello! I just found your trip report and got all caught up. I started reading because we are going to many of the same restaurants as you during our trip this Jan.

I totally understand about being a resort snob. We were actually originally going to stay at the Poly concierge too. That was when it was just going to be my husband, me, and our daughter. Then my husband's entire family decided to join and we are now staying at AKLV. I'm happy because I love them and we stayed at AKL last year...but I really will miss the Poly. I guess we'll have to wait until next time. I suppose next time the monorail will be even more important. My daughter will be 1 on our trip so she'll still be easy to tote around. haha (She is a very easy going little girl.)

Awesome picture of the Headless Horsemen. We have not gone to a Halloween Party but it is on my to do list for the next few years. Can't wait to read more!!!
