1/3/09 Magic - First Time To St. Croix

OK, Prayer warriors and pixie dust out to Khakis Mum today...she has checked in to the hospital, and is awaiting the surgeon to slice and dice as I type this. Prayers for guidance of the doctors hands, and for a speedy recovery with minimal pain, and lots of modern chemistry (AKA in our circle as drugs!):wizard: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I went by and saw Khakismum yesterday afternoon...she's doing as well as can be expected...considering the fact that she is stapled together. You know, I still can't figure the whole concept of stapling a person back together. Did anybody here ever "accidentally" staple themselves as a child, or am I the only 1? It hurts like heck! Go figure! Anyway, she had some post anesthesia nausea, so the biggest hurdle for her yesterday was to keep some food on her stomach so that they could take her off the IV meds and give her oral pain killers. She hopes to come home Friday. Keep sending those good vibes. :goodvibes

Well hope khakismum is doing better.:goodvibes But I was thinking of our cruise motto issue. I came up with "Cruizin the year off right":cool1:  Well we'll see what you all think about that one.

Hope all are having a good time as we approach Jan 3rd. :wizard:

We're out at camp in WV for a Men's retreat. It is really nice; just a little cool.

Life is a little hectic right now but we are really looking forward to a few days WDW June 8th ...... not to mention the cruise.

OK, when MY instructor's instructor is here, I always get inspired. Master Kathy got married last weekend, and several of her students sent her on a cruise for her honeymoon. That got me thinking, because today we did cane and knife seminars. VERY excellent! ANyway, if I were to purchase a really cool knife in some port of call, would I have to mail it home to myself, or would I be allowed to "check it" on the boat? Anyone have any info on this? I certainly wouldn't be the one to want to argue with a customs agent, but I also wouldn't want to lose $50 by purchasing something and not being able to bring it home some way or another.:confused3

Now I know we're not talking about a little itty bitty steak knife:lmao:
Cause that's not a knife to:scared1: away the bad guys.:smokin:

Thinking about our shirts again....I would prefer T-shirts. If it is as hot in January as it was last December, a golf shirt with a collar would be too warm.:faint:

OK...T-shirts it is...my friend Heather can get us some pretty nice shirts rather reasonably wholesale. Did we ever decide on a "cruise name"? And, do we want a DCL design on the left pocket area? I talked to Heather, and the designs that she purchased on ebay that are compatible with her machine would probably run us around $8/shirt. That is plus the cost of the shirt. This is at cost for us...she isn't making any money...she charges per stitch, and these are extremely high stitch count designs...even as small as they are. She also has a heat press, so there's an option...designing our own, and sending it to her JPEG and she can do a heat press design. Lemme know.

DEFINITELY not a little steak knife! Although, I prefer the smaller knives...they fit in my hand better. Bobby uses the bigger variety, but I prefer the blade to be around 3-4" long. Actually, Master Kathy had a very cute, but lethal I'm sure, knife that was only a 2" blade...but it was serated!
At any rate, I'm not sure the regulations...it doesn't make sense that you can't carry a pocket knife, yet you can pack one and have it with you on the boat, and they give you very sharp steak knives once onboard. Don't make no sense at all. So, anybody have an answer to my initial question? :confused3

I have no idea about reboarding with a knife. If nothing else maybe they will hold it for you until debarkation? Hopefully someone will have the answer, maybe you should post it as a separate thread, more people will see it.

Woo Hoo...in just 31 short Saturdays from now, we'll be aboard the beautiful vessel! :yay: :dance3: :woohoo:

Hello all. We just returned home from our Month of Magic. DL, WDW, Magic thru the Canal and back to DL. 29 days of Disney. :cool1: Anyway, just wanted to drop in and let you know that we have canceled this cruise.:( We think we will not likely sail until 2010 or so.

We're going to Disney World! :woohoo: :yay: It's only for 5 days but we are staying at the AKV in a Savannah View room. :thumbsup2 I know it'll be hot and crowded but it's Disney World .... who cares?

Wave to us as you pass through Atlanta...you'll come within 10 miles of my house if you're coming on I-85...not to mention Khakis mum, bigdaddydon, sunshine girl, and gabell.
