Hey everyone! My family and I will be on this cruise come January and I am so excited! We always take our cruises in January to break up the monotony of winter up here in Alaska. We live in North Pole and it is usually -45 to -50 when we go to the airport! I can't wait to meet everyone and I hope you are as excited as I am. Oh yeah, since we always go in January, I can tell you that the weather is always awesome (75-85 degrees), the water is warm, and the crowds are down:) If this is your first time, you are in for a real treat! Cheers!

brrr! and i thought mass. was cold in january :scared1: ! welcome modlin 1024 , alaska takes the cake! well it will be warm enough for us in january:thumbsup2 only 4 months and 17 days to go :woohoo:

Got the shore excursion booklet in the mail today! (No prices listed...just the excursions available, etc.)

Hi! We will be sailing with you folks and are definately looking fwd to it. We have sailed DCL twice before and loved it. We are: me - Sarah, DH Stony and DS Dutch 6yo. We are tacking on a few days before and after the cruise at BWV and BCV which is exciting too as we have never stayed at either. Looking foward to a fabulous cruise! :cool1:

Hi all. We are also from Toronto and cruising for the first time. We started out as a group of 11, but sadly my grandparents (81 & 82) have decided the trip will be too much for them and my DS is pregnant so we are down to 6 of us still going. My DS(9) and DD(6) can't wait. And while I try not to get overly excited in front of them (mainly because they ask a million questions and then can't sleep at thinking about it), secretly I'm counting the days and doing a happy dance

Anyway enough rambling on, I was wondering if anyone knows what time we are in Key West? I have read that you don't get off the ship until late afternoon and then have to get back on by 7:00pm.

Wow - great Canadian contingent!!

We (OK me) are really getting excited about this trip. I'm not particularly looking forward to winter, but with this trip to take the edge off I think I will be OK ;) .

We are also moving - have bought a house and are in the process of selling ours - and that has me kind of stressed out! I just want our house sold so I can start getting things organized for the move. Fingers crossed for the open house this weekend!

wolfe-pak and WDW Dreamer - are you flying down? If so, have you bought your tickets? We are flying out of BUF on Airtran and got a really nice price. I did notice though that Sunwing has good prices out of Pearson (less than $1000 for 3 people).

Let the planning begin............ :yay:

Hi Sarah,

We are also doing the Buffalo route for our flights. Can't beat the price! We're flying AirTran down and Jetblue back(fingers crossed that everyone's still in business come January!!) Wow, the Sungwing price does sound pretty good out of Toronto but we make a fun trip out of the travel to Buffalo and do a little clothes shopping at the outlets before we head home so it's worth the time for us.

Hi Everyone
We are also from Canada(St.Catharines, Ontario)
This will be our first cruise.
My dh my dd who will celebrate her 12th birthday while we are cruising and myself.
We are very excited:cool1:
My daughter does not know we are going. Will surprise her on Christmas morning.
We are flying out of Buffalo on the 21st and staying at the radisson in port for a few days pre cruise.:cool1: :cheer2:

Welcome aboard, Princess Kate! It's getting closer! I'm making my final payment soon. Makes it seem more real that way! :)

Hi all!
My husband and I recently booked this cruise too! It's just the 2 of us going, we do not have any children.

Looking forward to meeting everyone onboard!

I bit the bullet and paid in full today. The CDN dollar is tanking completely so I figured I better do it now before it gets worse! Looking fwd to a break after all this crazy economy stuff!

Perhaps we should get cruise shirts with a CDN flag on them - I can't believe how many CDN folks are cruising!

Has anyone ever participated in the fish extender thing? I first read about it on cruise critic and then read further on the disboards. It sounds like fun!:flower3:

I've seen it mentioned, but honestly I don't understand how it works. Is it like a Secret Santa thing on the ship?

I'm not exactly sure how it works either, but many people have posted pics and tips on making homeade things. I guess, you give things (like little trinkets) to others from DISboards and its just a fun thing to do.

If anyone on here has more info or is interested in doing this--I would definitely be interested in particpating!:wizard:

I am getting So excited! I paid my reservation in full today, and next week will be able to make Palo and other reservations!! I can't believe it's only a little more than 90 days! We will be flying in from Germany on the 11th and spending a couple of days at Universal (never been figured we'd try it) and then over to the Beach Club Villas on the 15th until the 23rd.
I have a reservation for the hampton at the port for the night of the 23rd, and then we will be on the ship!!
I wiould like to participate if there is someone who is familiar with the fish extenders also.. I am not sure if I included in my earlier post my family that will be on the cruise- it will be me, 34 DH 31, DD 12 DS 10 this will be our third Disney Cruise, and my DH, who is in the US Army, will be going on a deployment shortly after we return, so we are all ready to have a blast!!
This board is just keeping it all exciting for me! I am also going to try an book an Illuminations cruise for Thursday January 22, and there are only four of us, so if I get it and any of my fellow cruisers are going to be there that night, and want to share let me know!! I can't wait!

BTT this thread. Anyone else interested in the fish extender?

Paid my cruise off this week. 3 months away! It will go fast...holidays, etc.

From what I understand about the FE (keep in mind I have never done them before) cruisers make FE's and hang them outside of their cabin. Then fellow disers can leave little gifts for them in the pockets. Like I said I have never done this, but on the last cruise I went on someone from the cruise meet thread kept a list of everyone that wanted to participate, the list contained number of people, and ages of everyone in the cabin as well as if anyone had anything special going on like anniversary, birthday etc. If you are all serious about doing this I wouldn't mind making a list and updating it, unless someone else wants to. Let me know if people are intersted.
By the way we are all paid off too and getting so excited. Trying to figure out all the little details and plan excursions because we get to book them soon.

This will be our first cruise, and I think the fish extenders sound fun! We are always up for anything, so we will join in. Do we just drop off our goodies on one assigned day? Do you leave the same amount with each family, regardless of family size? I only ask this, because we have a large family, and I wouldn't want anyone feeling like they had to leave us more...know what I mean?

The kids will think it is fun having our doors decorated, and going around trying to find everyone's room numbers...sometimes the simple things make the best memories!

Hi. We are also cruising Jan 24th 2009. It will be our 1st (me, DH and DD5) We are meeting a couple of other families on board. We would love to do the fish-y thing. Nothing like coming back to your room and finding a nice surprise :)
I'd also like to personally thank all you Ontario folks for infusing $$ into Buffalo's economy. Without you, our property taxes would double! And thanks for using The Buff airport, keeps our rates low. ()

Anyone staying at the Radisson Friday night?
