1/21/12 Western Caribbean Cruise

Hi there
We are booked for our second disney cruise..We went in jan this year on the eastern carribean and loved it...I have a 12 yr old daughter, 11 yr old boy (at the time) and 7 yr old boy. Does anybody have a daughter around 12 like mine, that can start emailing and getting to know each other? I did this last time and it worked perfectly...that way, my daughter is fine with going to the club..lol

Welcome! We did the Eastern in January also! (1/28-2/5). We loved it so much we booked on board for the Western.

OMG How funny! :lmao: :rotfl:

Yes it was! I guess you would say the weather was "Magical"! :rotfl2:

We did too! We didn't explore a whole lot & I hope to next time.

Good news to hear that weather's good in January in the Caribbean...then again we'll be coming from the nasty dead of winter in Ottawa so as long as it's not raining (or 35 below zero) we'll be stoked!

We are coming from Michigan, so it's the same with us. When we got to Cape Canaveral the day before our cruise it was in the low 60's & people were complaining!!! :scared1: We were taking off winter clothes & putting on summer clothes (in our hotel room of course). Son even went swimming in the outdoor pool We just left our winter coats & 20 degree weather behind. It was warm to us! That was the coolest day of our vacation!

Just checking into this thread finally!

DH (Rod) and I will be on this cruise. His 2nd, my 6th. He liked the 4 night Dream Inaugural, decided we would try a 7-nighter. I'll be celebrating a birthday during the cruise too. Our cabin is 7620.

Welcome! I will be "celebrating" my birthday too, it's at the beginning of January.

Welcome! My DH will be celebrating a birthday too! On January 24 and our sort of anniversary is January 22 (when we first started dating). So excited for the cruise, less then 6 months to go!
Anybody surprising the kids with the cruise/vacation? We are doing WDW and then the cruise, we are going to give them/tell them about the trip to WDW on Christmas, but not the cruise. We are hoping they will just think we are heading back home, to the airport, and hopefully will surprise them with the cruise at port when they see the ship. They will be so excited they have wanted to go on a cruise since we watched the free DVD Disney sent us. What do you all think, do you think it will work?

How exciting! Welcome! There seems to be a lot of birthday celebrations going on for our cruise! How great! :hippie:

I don't think I could ever keep the secret. No, I know I couldn't, I would slip! :scared1: That sounds great.

Awesome plan!
Be sure and bring a camera and get it on video though. You'll be able to watch it again and a again. It'll be so fun to catch the very moment when they actually make that connection...;)

We've shown out DS (a few months shy of 5 at the time of the cruise) but I really don't know that he'll *get* it until we're driving up to the boat at which time he'll pretty much freak out at the size of it and then I think it'll rush over him that the dvd can actually be real life.
Heck..he's never been on a plane either and I imagine that'll be twitchingly excited giddiness as well.
And I can see DD (2 at cruise time) Charging down and tackling any character character within a 50 foot radius.

Really can't wait!

Hi Everyone,
Wow, I just saw I haven't logged in since 2009! I have lurked and kept up on all the changes. Our last sailing with DCL was in 2007. We are booked on this cruise with friends of ours, sailing for our birthdays, it will be just us four adults (although that is up for interpretation regarding our husbands..LOL)! This will be my 6th sailing with DCL so I finally get to claim Gold! :yay:
Looking forward to "meeting" all of you through these boards. I know our previous sailings were a lot more fun because of the friends we met via the disboards.

Lisa

Great plan!! Ours won't find out until Christmas, I just can't handle asking "how many more sleeps" X 4 kids, daily ;)

Welcome to everyone new, PM me to get on our spreadsheet for cruisers! We got a confirmation in the mail today with a little booklet from DCL, will look at it more once the kiddos go to bed!

Welcome to everyone that is new to our cruise! We made another payment today...almost got it paid for. I sent a request to join the facebook group.

I've had some near misses lately! One day I left some paperwork out, luckily the one who can't read found it ;)

We got the booklet as well..makes it more real doesn't it?
Notice too that Key West wasn't the first port in the booklet but instead it was Costa Maya, Mexico? Don't know how much water the booklet holds but I don't know that I'd complain too much about that change. First i thought it would have been all the Western Port possibilities but key West wasn't even listed in the booklet. Strange.
I know ports of call are always subject to change...

I believe that is for when the Fantasy takes over the Caribbean cruises. The Magic will be the last to port at Key West because the larger boats can not dock there. The Fantasy will be going to Costa Maya instead. Just looked at our reservations on line & we are still to go to Key West...

I am surprising my oldest son Jake with a disney cruise for his 13th birthday. I am hearing about fish extenders and getting in a "group" I would like more info on that please. I have never been on a cruise and I am a dvc member and know alot about disney world so this is all new to me. I want to make this the best, most memorable birthday for him ever! Fish extenders sound like alot of fun but I am still learning about what it is and how it works. Can someone help me? Please?..Thanks!
