1/21/12 Western Caribbean Cruise

For those coming in the night before the cruise, where are you going to be staying??

You are ahead of me. I'm pretty sure we know what flight we are taking, just haven't booked it yet. No clue on where we are staying, son wants to stay somewhere different than last time. We took a tour in St. Marten & now wish we didn't. We are thinking about shopping & beach days for Cozumel & Grand Cayman but aren't sure. Key West we might take the tour (not through DCL though). My son (10) has no interest in the Ruins, Dolphins or sting ray. I would love any advise & thoughts from others also. :)

We are coming in Friday afternoon, staying at a hotel near the airport & taking the Disney bus to the port.

In January we rented a car at the airport & stayed at the Country Inn & Suites in Cape Canaveral. We took the Disney bus back to the airport after the cruise.
It's cheaper to rent a car, but it's a lot easier & stress free to do the Disney bus.

Hi guys
I asked this a bit ago and really hoping this will work. I did this for our jan cruise this year and hannah, my 12 year old now, emailed a girl back and forth up until cruise time and they hung out constantly on the cruise.....I am hoping to find someone for my son this time, too....Also, hannah and katie still talk constantly on fb and email....so, any 12-13 yr old girl coming on the cruise that would like to hook up with someone via email prior, so you have a friend before stepping foot on the cruise? (makes going into kids club a little bit easier for those who know someone or are going with someone)

Also, any 11-12 year old boy looking for the same? Message me please...
enjoy the day
lori :O)

I have a DD10 who is also looking for a friend to communicate with before the cruise. She will be 11 when we cruise. She does email and have a fb also. Let me know if your daughter is interested. DD is a little younger than your daughter.

Great plan!! Ours won't find out until Christmas, I just can't handle asking "how many more sleeps" X 4 kids, daily ;)

Welcome to everyone new, PM me to get on our spreadsheet for cruisers! We got a confirmation in the mail today with a little booklet from DCL, will look at it more once the kiddos go to bed!
I've tried to pm you to get on the list but it won't let me. What am I doing wrong. Sorry new the the Dis boards

You found us!! For anyone else who may have joined us recently, if you're not part of our facebook group or on our spreadsheet please message me! Info about our Fish Extender and Meet Up will be coming soon, don't miss out! :woohoo:

I am an undiagnosed "Disneyfile" or so my DW says...:confused3:confused3

So, Hello my name is Joel and yes, I was awake at 12:01 am booking our onboard indulgences and excursions last night...:cool1::cool1:

Is that wrong???:confused3:confused3:confused3

We were lucky enough to get a spot for brunch at Palo. This is something that although we have cruised many times before, we have never had the pleasure of enjoying what I am sure (or at least from what I have read) is just as good as dinner at Palo.:worship::worship:

Only booked one excursion, we really want to see the ruins in Cozumel, so I think that's where we're headed. Gonna take a lazy day in Grand Cayman.:beach:

Also, booked some Spa time from me and the Mrs. we love the couples massage...For us (usually traveling with the full complement of children) it's a nice time away to ourselves.

So, how's it going for everyone else? Only 119 days until go time...:banana::banana:

We're getting more and more excited everyday...Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi All

I'm a first time cruiser will be cruising with my Aunt and Uncle whom are also first time cruisers - anyone got any suggestions on what to do on grand cayman?

We've organised the tram tour in key west (doing it on our own as its cheaper than the ship and you can get on and off when booking through the website), the ruins in mexico and hopefully if we can get it booked the cabanna on disneys island.

I never knew booking a cruise and find everything out was such hard work but I'm enjoying every minute of it.

Regards

Carl

Welcome! You can find a ton of idea's on the disboards! It has been so helpful for us.
I think we are going to do a beach excursion in Grand Cayman, we will figure it out soon so we can book it as soon as we are allowed to. DH wants to book through DCL since we are tendering at GC. Just figured it would be easier to get on shore. The beach excursions aren't too expensive anyway.
No clue in Mexico yet. Plan to just hang out & explore on CC like last time. :wizard:

We just paid off our cruise & DCL transfers!  :cheer2:
Come on Oct. 24th (when Silver cc members can book excursions, etc)!

Just paid the last of mine but being first time i've got to wait until 7th November before I can start booking my excursions grr!

That's how we were last time, but we didn't book anything ahead of time anyway. We booked our excursions on board. We might book Grand Cayman ahead of time, but will probably wait on the rest. Not sure. We don't due the spa or palo.

Got a port arrival time of 11:00 - 11:30!! YIPEE!!

We are excited to finally be going on our first cruise. My oldest daughter and I have been working on my husband for years but he has finally agreed. :) Guess that is what I get for marrying a Navy guy who used to "live" on the water. We have done Disney World many times and love it, so we are hoping to enjoy the cruise just as much.

Reading through the posts it looks as though there are a lot of younger children and my oldest daughter was wondering if there were going to be any teenage girls cruising. She will be 14 by cruise time. Our baby girl will only be 14 months so she isn't too worried about finding anyone to hang out with.

Getting excited to say the least. All the plans are in place and now we are just waiting for January!

Haven't checked in in a while, but the excitement is building now.
Made our final payment and got our Palo brunch ressies for KW day, our port check in time at 11 am, and doing the Tulum excursion in Cozumel. Since we have been on this intinerary more than once, we are planning on doing KW and GC on our own. The couple traveling with us are up for the adventure. :goodvibes
We were going to come in early and do a few days at the park but dh has a business trip that will take him right up to two days before the cruise. He gets to fly in one day and fly out the next! At least that time will be for fun! :)

What is everyone else's plans for the ports?

Lisa

Just made our last payment as well but have to wait until Monday to start booking.:sad1: From what I can tell KW and GC are easily done on your own so we plan to do that and are Planning the Discover Mexico Cultral Park in Cozumel. Tulum looks wonderful but I think it will be too long of a commute for the little ones we are travelling with.
There is daily threat of snow now at this time of year here so I'm sure some fun in the sun will be greatly welcomed come Jan

Haven't been on in a while. First time cruiser and Paid in full today!!! Just trying to make some final decisions...as I have to wait till Nov 7 to book excursions and reservations! Can't wait to go and maybe meet some of you!;):cool1:

Just about everything is done for the planning part of the cruise. Already booked hotel for the night before, airline tickets & transportation.

Went on line this morning & finished all the online paperwork. We have a 11 am port check in time. I didn't think we had to since we are doing DCL transfers. Also booked the fishing excursion on CC for my husband & son & the beach break on Cozumel. We wanted to do the Seven Mile Beach break on Grand Cayman but it was already sold out. :(

We now need to figure out our beach day on Grand Cayman & research if we will have enough time to do some shopping after the beach day in Cozumel. We are planning on doing the trolly tour on Key West, but not through DCL.
We don't do Palo or the Spa so don't have to worry about that.

Still not sure if we should do the FE or not. Not crafty at all & not sure if I need the stress around the holidays. We didn't do it our first cruise.

Hopefully we can meet people from our group! Last time we only meet one family. :(
