Is anyone out there running/walking in the Disneyland 1/2 marathon in september? Would love to hear from others who are doing this inaugural event!

My husband and I are running the half marathon. He is coming home for his "two weeks" from his year deployment in Iraq during the time of the 1/2 marathon. It actaully falls on our wedding anniversary :) . I also signed our kids up for the kids races the day before. I have to start training!!! That is my goal for this week. :teeth:

Same here! I'm doing the 1/2 mary while my wife will do the 5K and my DS and DD will do the kids race the day before.

Noticed in your countdown you're doing your first ironman...which one are you doing? My husband started doing sprint tri's, and olympic tri's about a year ago. He's hoping to do the Ironman here in Arizona next April.

Brooklyn-
that will be great seeing your husband AND Disneyland all in the same two weeks. My training begins in earnest in two weeks, tough to do here in Arizona through the summer....it's a little HOT!

Im doing the half marathon and its my first time to ever do anything like this!! Im been training hard and have a long way to get to that distance. Im hopeful Ill do it though.

DH and I will be walking the half. A bunch of us on the WISH forum will be participating! We are really excited.

My husband and his friend both did the Goofy Challenge at WDW, so now they must, must do the Inaugural Disneyland 1/2 marathon. Our friend's wife, my son and I all plan to do the 5K.

I'm doing Vineman but I thought about doing IMAZ as my first. I'm bringing my family to Vineman but I hear it's not much of a spectator course. I'm so psyched for this race but also sooooo nervous! I'm not shooting for a specific time...I just want to finish. If you ever make your way to LA, my first Oly was the LA Triathlon a couple of years ago. That was a great race for both participant and spectator. Tons of people line the course to cheer you on. It's a really great atmosphere.

BTW, I had heard there's a DIS meet for the DL 1/2 marathon at the CCI. Are there any others planned? Just wondering in case if I'm unable to attend.

My husband and I are running the half. My 9 year old DD is running the 5k and my 3 year old is running the kids 100 meter race.

This is my first half in over five years. I've run 3 before, but it has taken this race to get me training again. I'm really excited!

Hi lap3

I live in Simi too. - on the East side.
How old are your kids? I was thinking of doing this but never registered. My kids are 8 & 10 so I think they could do the 5K Do you plan to 'train' or just go for it?

just FYI, there is a 15 minute/mile pace required to finish the 5k, I think many/most people can do this with little training.

Cool! I live on the west side...near the corner of Madera and LA Avenue.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the registration reached full capacity for the 1/2 marathon but the 5k should be ok...but I wouldn't wait too long. By the time the race comes around, that'll be about a month after finishing my first Ironman...I don't know what condition or how motivated I'll be after this race so I may just go at a leisurely pace...yeah, right! Knowing me, I'll probably get caught up in the moment and go at it full speed! :rotfl2: I hope you decide to join!

I must say, you must be a real athlete. I have been busting my buns to get to a 15 min pace for the Minnie next weekend!! :rotfl2: But, like I said, I just started "training to train" in January. Then, I had a 16:42 pace and thought I'd never see 16!! Now, after all the help from the W.I.S.H.er's I do not fear the 1/2!

Come on over...you'll see that there are tri, ironman/woman, 3K...all kinds of us because We're Inspired to Stay Healthy by walking, wogging, or running!
