1/17/09 Magic anyone???

We are doing the Coral World thing and taking the rest of the day by the ear. Probably just taking time to walk around and shop.

Tim

We are doing the same thing. :)

Coral World and then probably wander Havensite/port area. We wandered downtown last year and it was just too mobbed. I know it won't be quite as bad this year (last year they were so full there were three ships tendering) but we just didn't enjoy it that much.

A mighty fine profession if I do say so myself...being doing it for about 16 years probably longer than your son and less than your husband.

Tim

Right on!!! Son is just starting his 3rd year and hubby is at 25 or 26.....

Son is third generation!

the only excursion I really want to do is the 12 metre regatta in St. Maarten. I was signed up this past October on our Eastern cruise but it got cancelled due to weather. My cousin wants to due the Hiking excursion in St. Maarten so not sure what we will do yet.

In St. Thomas we usually go to a place called Sapphire Beach Club. We take a taxi there and back and you can use their loungers. There is a bar and small restaurant, small gift shop and often there are iguanas running around!! I believe there is also an inground pool on the one part of the property, though we never used it. It is actually the place one of the DCL excursions go but it is cheaper on your own.

In St. Maarten we take the taxi to Orient Beach (Bikini Beach Club) and once in a awhile you will see a nude or topless person but it is not rampant at all. Hint if you want to get the fish in the water to come near you...just bring a box of fruit loops with you. We dropped a few in water when we were snorkeling and it was like fish frenzy!!! Also in St. Maarten I always wanted to go to Maho beach that is adjacent to the airport....looks cool, but loud...

Yeah that is the sad part I don't need anyone to pay for me, we just can't afford to pay for TWO lol and you can't go as one because it's the same price as paying for two. Maybe they would let me sleep on a dack chair at a one person rate? lol I'll bring my own blanket!

I'd offer to put you in with Jay and I, but I somehow think that no one would be too happy in that situation!

We are swimming with Sea Lions at Coral World and I am SOOOO excited!!!! On St. Maarten, I think we are planning on hitting a bar. There is one right on the beach, where the airlines land just a couple of hundred feet over head.

Just found out that one of our all time favorite crew members is onboard and can't wait to see us. I am getting SOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!!!!!!

I agree! haha

So we've talked about the excursions in St. Maarten...what's everyone doing in St. Thomas?

We're doing the Doubloon Sail & Snorkel. I can't wait to try out my underwater digital camera!

A friend had told us to take a taxi to Megan's beach ... anyone heard about it? She's VERY conservative so I'm assuming there's no nudity there. :confused3

We're not opposed to spending money, but don' really want to unless we hear of something we're dying to do.

I thought that airport with the planes landing so close was in St. Thomas ... I want to see that ... kind of. Do you need to take a taxi there?

Check out my link in post #603.....it's called Maho Beach in St. Maarten and there is a link to some videos of the planes landing and taking off....awesome!!! There is a bar right there called, I think, Sunset Bar.

There are no words for how badly that freaks me out!!! :scared1: I'm hoping if I see a few land without crashing it might curb my fear of flying ... or it could possibly make it worse. I'll update you afterward!

Do you know what a cab ride there might cost? Also, is there shopping near by there? We're doing beaches at St. Thomas and also at Castaway Cay, so we're thinking maybe just doing a little bit of time there and then back to the ship ... any thoughts?

Georji-We went to Megan's Beach last year and there is no nudity. It's a beautiful beach with great sand for the kids. We got off the ship and got a taxi right away. I can't remember the exact cost, but it was less expensive than the DCL excursion. We got there way before the excursion, had plenty of time on the beach before it got crowded. There were plenty of taxi's waiting to take you back to port.

The more we hear about it the more it's a done deal as far as I'm concerned! I don't love beaches, but my boys and husband do ... sacrifice I make! LOL! Please just tell me there's a place I can get the sand off my feet! :headache:

I've had a heck of a time trying to post on here....but finally! Lately, I've been repelling technology.....

In one of the earlier postings, or on the list of who's going, I noticed someone had a 14yo girl who needed a friend. My daughter just turned 15 last month and Christal on here has a 15yo daughter; they're going to meet up. Perhaps the other girl would like to hang with them?

I finalized our plans for St. Maarten. We got a tour with Joyce Prince. We are doing a private driving tour of the island, shopping and then a stop at the beach. Then back to the ship. We may end up doing more shopping but figured we could save that until the end.

Since its the first time out of the country for my DH and DD, I wanted to do something so that they could see what other cultures were like. I feel less guilty about pulling her out of school if I make it a quasi learning experience.:teeth:

I have no problem with topless sunbathing. But as DD has no brothers, I don't believe that a lesson on the male anatomy needs to be included during our cruise. So no Club Orient for us. ;)

Thanks for the replies everyone. Oh and I was told by Joyce that all the beaches will be crowded in January. :sad2:

We're supposed to be doing this as well. Hmm, that just reminded that I need to call back and place my credit card number with them. We have a 1 p.m. swim. I was told it was about an hour so that gives us 2.5 hours to change, buy souveniers and get back to the ship!:thumbsup2
What time is your swim scheduled for?

And everyones' families are beautiful!! I need to remember to get on-line at home and post our pictures.

There aren't any bathtubs in category 6 are there? I just thought abou that this morning .. my boys hate showers ... I guess they'er going to have to tollerate a little of it. :(

Bathtubs: I thought all categories had bathtubs. I know 11's and 7's do as that's what we've had.

St. Thomas: There are no topless beaches in the US Virgin Islands so fear not. :)

Maho: We're going to do Maho next time around. For those avoiding toplessness my understanding is that the old bar that is at Maho used to offer free or discounted drinks to topless ladies. It was damaged with a hurricane this year and has been rebuilt...not sure if under the same management/offers.

Docking: When we were here last year we docked at Habour Point. http://www.portofstmaarten.com/harbour.htm

Time to go do a little packing/planning. Can't believe it's finally almost here :)

Good news for you!! ALL rooms on DCL have bathtubs...they are pretty normal size too. My kids took baths almost every night, it calmed them down and they were quite stinky after being in the sun and sand all day! :lmao:

Your DS will not need to take that horrible shower! :rotfl: (BTW - both mine HATE showers too!) :goodvibes
