1/17/09 Magic anyone???

Hi,

I'm new to this thread and was wondering if there are any DIS meets or activites planned for this curise. I will be sailing with DH. It's his birthday cruise

WELCOME!! We can't wait for our time at sea, but I'm not sure as far as a meet up! Great question!

Hello all.. we are also booked for this cruise on 1/17/09 and can't wait.
we are treating my grand daughter and her parents for this cruise, this will be their first Disney cruise. we are all excited.
Weather in florida has been very warm for this time of year so dad and I are comfortable., we are watching all the weather forcasts since our family will be flying in for NY. Is this cruise fully booked? Does anyone know the rotation for the late seating. Well I guess we will find out in 14 days.
see you all on board.

Well, still no documents. Hopefully, tomorrow will bring me the goods.

NY looks good weatherwise for the 16th. This is the only day that worries me as it is my fly out day and the only thing that can put a damper on the cruise and arrival. No headaches regarding flying out and we will then start off great.

The cruise is not fully booked. On the DCL web site you can still reserve cat 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. Funny, but no cat 7's available. I guess everyone really wants to stay home and watch the inauguration. Me, I would rather be sailing and boozing.

As for the rotation, no one knows their rotations until they get there. The late seating will have multiple rotations and there is no way of knowing which one you will get beforehand.

Some characters for you...

Which airport are you flying out of??? We are flying out of EWR at 8:15 am on Continental. Glad the weather looks good for the 16th....I have not checked yet but will be keeping an eye out.....I wanted to book an early flight in case of bad weather...hoping more chances to get on later flights.

Hello, welcome to the group. :yay:

Amanda went through and made a list of everyone that's been on the forum so far to try and get a count for a meet and greet. It's post #433.

Newark, ehhh. We are out of JFK on a 7:10am. We were on a 6am flight but they cancelled it and moved us to the 7:10am. I was also thinking the earlier the better. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

We are renting a car and driving down to Sun City Center to visit my 90 year old Aunt for the day. So, I really hope our flight goes off without a hitch.

JFK is brutal for me to get to. Newark is only about 35 minutes...much easier. I always get stuck in tons of traffic when I go to JFK as I have to go over GWB and then Triboro.

Where is everyone staying the night before. I just booked the Hyatt for convenience sake. Hubby and I usually rent a car and stay either at WDW or port area hotel pre night but this time I am cruising with my cousin and just wanted to take the DCL transfers from the Hyatt to make it easy.

TWO WEEKS, folks!!! I can not believe it! I still have so much to do!!! I need new sneakers, I need to make our t-shirts, I need to learn how to use my new camera.....

So has anyone gotten an upgrade????

No upgrade here...in fact I am surprised no one has posted with all the rooms still available on the reservation system!! Looks like it will be an empty ship (ya, right!!) :lmao:

Did you get a new camera for Christmas? That's awesome! We got a new one for Christmas/cruise ... but we got it a few weeks before Christmas. I can't believe we'll all be on board 2 weeks from now!!!

What kind of camera did you all get for the holidays???? Since we are on camera topic.....here is a link to another thread about the Olympus underwater digital cameras.....I got one from hubby for our anniversary this past Sept. and I took on our Eastern Magic cruise this past October.....

Post #84 at the link has the pics it took. I think they came out great. Check out the thread....

Wow, those are fantastic pictures! That's great! Thanks for sharing! Ours is a Nikkon D90 ... I like it because it's got video on it too! If you look at the following link you can see some of the photos it's taken ...

Not all of them are great, but one of the Christmas tree in our living room turned out amazing! Those are our Christmas photos!

Thanks for the update. WE will have to wait and see what happens.
My family will be flying out of Albany, on Southwest. They should be arriving about 3:20pm on the 16th. Everyone will be staying at our house, and we will drive to the port on saturday morning and park there.
HOpe to see everyone on ship.

That's what I got, is the Olympus Underwater Digital!

We pretty much fly out of JFK exclusively because it is only 20 minutes to the west of us. Jet Blue has a great terminal there and they just opened a brand new one.

We are also staying at the Hyatt the night before. Hopefully the weather holds up and it remains the night before.

14 days to go and still no documents here. But, no worries, I think I got them 10 days before the last time.

Did everyone book their cruise themselves or use a travel agent? We used MEI/Mousefan travel (recommended by Allears). Our agent is Coleen Bolton. She does a great job. Going on the cruise is the only time I use a TA. I am a DVC member and do all my travel stuff myself.

I am also suprised by the number of available rooms on the DCL web site. As I said earlier (see prior posting) all rooms are open except cat.7's

An idea for ANY trip (especially since I've not yet been on a Disney Cruise), but when we go on vacation I try a new scent for lotion from Bath and Body Works (or any place) ... I also buy a new CD or music from iTunes and listen to it on my cruise. The reason for this is because anytime I hear the music or smell the scent it takes me right back to the special times on our trip!

That's funny! I do that too! I bought a new perfume for the cruise and then every time I wear it after, it will remind me of the cruise!

I meant to put that on the tips thread, but accidentally did it on here! Oh well! It's a great trick! Especially right now ... anytime I smell "moonlight path" from Bath and Body Works I feel like I'm in Hawaii, even if there is 3 feet of snow outside! It's all mental!

I cheat....instead of bringing a bottle of perfume with me (always afraid of it breaking). I just stop by the shops and give myself a spritz with the different testers each night!!! LOL!!!:rotfl2:

Speaking of music.....here is a link of music that I gathered from a thread a few months back...I just put them in alpha order but when we had our pre-cruise party last time (we had a group of 20 going) I played them all and they were a hit!!!

Now, a few months back there was a thread that people listed all songs that reminded them of the cruise and I compiled them altogether to make a CD.

Here is the list!!! Hope is helps somewhat!!!
