1/14/07 Wonder Anyone?

Happy New Year all!

As far as matching outfits for sailaway...I don't know what we are doing yet. But last year, I had my kids in the same shirts for the picture as you walk in on the boat. They took a picture of us all together, and then of my two kids alone. That picture was so cute of the two of them together in their matching t-shirts! (I'd load it and post it, but Shutters was the only one who took that picture!) We might all be wearing my matching t-shirts to board because it makes the pictures turn out really cute. DH doesn't really care one way or the other as long as he gets to go!

No, they never got back to me about the private room! :confused3
Oh Well..

As for Palo brunch, I will make sure to throw in something for Jason to wear just in case I get ressies. By the way, okay, I think I understand that a jacket is NOT required for dinner but if you DON'T wear a jacket, is a tie required or just a nice dress shirt and slacks? I'd rather not pack the sports coat if necessary but Jason really isn't a tie kinda guy.

Better throw it in, we have you covered for a 10:30 brunch spot on Jan 17th,
Table for 2.... If you would like them! :thumbsup2

Ok, off to the DCL site to cancel our dinner reservations. we are going to dine each night with the kids!

Peter (or any of you who aren't newbies like me),

I'm torn on dinner at Palo. We are definately keeping brunch, but I want to dine with the kids every night too. Would you say that Palo dinner is a must-do if you haven't done it before? I was just planning to get room service for them and a cheese tray for us and let the kids eat on the verandah while we are getting ready for (a late) dinner, and then take them to the club. I just don't know.

I need to decide pretty quickly. We leave in 8 days!!!!!! Flying in the morning of the 10th....

To be honest we love Dinner there!!!

But, did not Dine there until our 3rd cruise!

I think, you will be happy with the brunch!!

and the other time could be spent with the family!

Oh what the heck, ditch the kids and go for Dinner :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Dinner is very nice. We did it last year and booked again this year. The kids ate dinner at the kid's clubs last year when we went, and they liked doing that. This year, we will probably order room service, or get pizza, or maybe even dinner at kid's clubs this year too; the kids can decide which they prefer. The kids don't mind at all (at least mine don't....). It is all fun to them.

Shelly... you have early seating right? You could always go to dinner with the kids then Palo after that. Just nibble on something or order a drink while the kids eat.

Since we have late seating, I booked Palo at 6:00. I'm hoping we DON'T have AP that night so I can skip dinner all together but if we end up with AP that night, I'll have to go after Palo to see the show with Taylor. Otherwise, I will order room service for her then off to the club she goes!

By the way... Peter was so generous to let me have brunch ressies so I get to go after all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Nope we requested late seating. In fact, I called DCL today to reiterate that request and ask for the 8:30 rotation which is PTTA, so if we do dinner as reserved at Palo on Nassau night we'll just miss one time at Triton's.

I think we'll keep it as is -- after so much togetherness the kids will probably prefer to eat on their own anyway and we will be happy for some adult dinner conversation :)

Yippee... you get to go to brunch!!!!

Shelly,
We have the same seating (late) as you do. I am little worried about my 5 year old with that, but we will be going to the shows earlier and I think that will be better for him. We are also going to Palo Nassau night too at 6:30. I haven't done the first thing towards packing, but we are all getting excited.

The main thing that we have to accomplish is getting all of DD's schoolwork. We try to have that all completed before we go so that there are no worries while we are having fun. She starts back tomorrow, and I will break the news to her teacher this week as well.
Laura

Sent that note to school today! Hope we can get some of the work early at least! It is the end of the quarter when we are gone so I am hoping she can take any tests they have planned on Tuesday 1/9 before we leave on 1/10.

Hmmm ... all of you talking about Palo's for bruinch is making me think maybe I will try to get some reservations when we get on the ship!

STILL haven't started packing although I am planning a trip to Target tomorrow to buy a few things we may need!

Anyone's kids cruise before? Should I worry about seasickness with them??? My husband and I are planning on taking Bonine but it says it is only for 12 and over!

BTW ... my daughter and I are both celebrating our birthday during our day at sea so if you see a little redhead with a shirt that says It's My Birthday on the back of it you know she is mine!!!!!!!!!! She will be turning 6 that day!!!!!!

Hi Laura,

We usually eat late anyway (7-7:30 for us), so 8:30 Eastern is right on our schedule. I sent a note to the kids' teachers and principal about 2 months ago and they were all okay with them being out, but said they should make up the work after we return.

I am bringing dramamine and pepto bismal for the kids just in case. I don't know anything about Bonine -- is that what they hand out on the ship?

Our principal was excited for them, too. He wants to hear all about it as he is considering taking his family on a trip like this!

We eat dinner late too so I'm *hoping* late seating is the right thing for us. Tucker generally goes to be around 11 pm so we'll see how it goes.

I told Taylor's teacher before Christmas we were going. She needed money for a field trip on the 17th so since she didn't know about the trip, I had to send the money but let her teacher know to void the check after she got it! I will send a letter tomorrow I suppose to get any work she can take with us.

Jodi - We have never cruised before. Jason goes deep sea fishing a lot and takes Bonine. I'm going to try taking this starting next Tues and see how it makes me feel. My other option to is call the dr for the ear patch. I don't know much about it but I've read a lot of people who can't take other stuff swear by it. I know they make a Bonine for kids. Tucker has a dr's appt next Wednesday to check his ears and I will ask the pediatrician what they recommend at that time... especially for an infant.

Well I made Taylor try on her pirate costume today and she hates it! She became very upset b/c she was "going to be the only one of us" not dressed "piratey" so I just had to order something overnighted! It's a pirate shirt that she will wear with black gauchos or something and I assume she'll be more comfortable but my lord.... $40 later for a shirt.......

I'm back to work tonight :sad2: That's okay, only 4 nights of working left until we leave next Friday!!!

Well my rolling cooler arrived today right before I left for work. It is very nice!! I got it for $20.00 of ebay and it's supposed to hold 48 cans so my plan is to throw in some beer and a bottle of wine or two. I will pack bottled water in the suitcases b/c I'll need it for Tucker's bottles and they can be room temperature. I hope my plan works out as this will save us $$ not having to buy so much alcohol!! :thumbsup2

Oh I picked up a rolling cooler at Sams Club this summer and I love it too. I'm going to put it flat inside another suitcase and we are doing a grocery stop with the limo service on the way to WDW from the airport to buy bottled water, Mt. Dew (DH has to have his Dew!), and some beer. I think we're still going to buy wine on board with meals.

Well my free/low cost kennel situation for the 3 labs just fell through (our trainer has kennel cough going around), so now I am looking at an extra $400 to $600 to board them depending on what we can work out that wasn't budgeted. Add that to the $120 emergency vet bill from New Years Day and I am definately in need of some ways to save $$. Plus the stress of trying to figure arrangements out less than a week before we leave. GRRRR!!!

I can't believe we are finally packing for this long-awaited trip!!!!

Sorry Taylor hates her pirate costume! We are not doing pirate stuff. The kids have the Mickey Waikiki shirt/dress to wear that night and I do have a Pirates tee shirt and DH will just wear a black shirt so he coordinates for pictures (gotta coordinate everything for pictures!!).

Should be fine!
