09/28/2002 Cruise

Howdy All!!!! Sure glad this week is over and not because it get's us closer to the cruise. On 9/11 I lost a very dear friend in a freak accident, a tree limb fell on a car he was a passanger in. Monday will be very tough they are basically closing down all production at our plant for day shift. Does anyone else think Vonda should call the cruise line, two weeks out and still not having paperwork I would? Speaking of wildlife I feel I am in a Chip and Dale Donald Duck cartoon with the three squirles that live in the trees on our property. We have big old oak's and hickory's and they love the nuts but they dig up everything in the beds and have dug up my planters on my front patio all summer I wash all the dirt away when I get home and sure enough if I go outside again in 5 minutes there is potting soil around the containers again. They also found a way into my fireplace chimney this spring and after I capped it they went crazy looking for a way to get in. Time to trap and release them at work plenty of trees and nuts there. Hard to believe that there is only two more weeks left. Packing starts in earnest this Sunday no football till Monday night. Take care everybody and hope all is well with you guys and you family too. See Ya soon !!! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

My father was in the hospital and they did cardiac cath(sp) anyway they decided he needed a quadruple bypass but his health wouldn't allow it just yet. He is going in on Tuesday to have this done. It is my understanding that this is a pretty big thing. Any of you nurses out there know about it? So, I will spend the day at the hospital on Tuesday on with my mom.
My lovely uncle is still here and I have been trying to keep him busy also. He is up at the crack of dawn everyday! He is a real treasure to have around. He walks the dog and prunes my roses. I shall miss him when he goes back.
Must start ot think about packing. Will speak to you all later. Elaine

Our love and prayers are with you and your family, Elaine.

Good Morning all ....

Elaine - Hope Dad is doing well. Music has motivated me to move the suitcase from the closet. Will probably be packed by tonight!

Kathy ~ Eagles be excellent! Chrystina is always off to Guard somewhere. I am always grateful for those unsung heroes who take the time and have the sense of duty to defend us all! Thnx.

Kathy ~ I have the same feelings about Atlanta. HATE IT!!! Will be flying into ATL this friday ~ Will not be comfortable until we are out of there. And I grew up in BOSTON which is probably one of the worst places in the country to drive. Atlanta is NUTZ.... Me, I will go out of my way to go around it. Be careful ~ Have fun.

VondaP - I'm with Kathy ~ Call Cruise Lines - today & everyday until the documents are in hand - Psych101 (Positive thought) is okay BUT DOCUMENTS in hand would be so much sweeter now!

William ~ Haven't heard from you lately ... Are you ready?

Mary - Have you prepared the test questions yet? It's pass-fail right? Get anyone answer correct and you pass?

Well ... It's just about 6:00 ... Guess I should go do something quasi-productive .... NAH!!!!!!!!! ... More coffee then start the planning for an April Steelhead Fishing Trip with the new Boss.

HIS plan is to fly 500 miles into a remote Indian Village (Yakutat) just after the river "opens" (meaning holes in the ice) while there is still couple of feet of snow on the ground, stand in water up to your chest with temps around 25-30 and fish for hours while the tips of your fingers (fingerless gloves) get frostbite. He's nuts, you can see it in his eyes!!! I mean, I like fishing but he is "over the edge" ~ Course, I am not too far from the edge :p

Have a good day everyone ........

Dennis

Elaine: We will be praying for your dad and family. My dad had quad bypass when he was approx. 65 y/o. He lived another 15 years, and had a wonderful quality of life. Playing golf, enjoying his grandchildren etc. The surgery is major, the recovery time can be quite long, but the docs wouldn't do it if they thought it wasn't necessary. It is also a long surgery. My dad's was about 7 hours, but that was almost 20 years ago so things have probably changed quite a bit since then. I am constantly amazed at the healing power of the human body. Hang in there and know our thought are with you. Ave'

Elaine , our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!

Just 14 short days to go!The Magic is currently on the port cam. I just love seeing her in port, but can't wait to be there in person.
For the past few weeks, I have been doing a odd thing. No matter where I am or what I am doing I think of where the Magic is at that time!Yesterday, after a pretty hecktic morning, I thought, OK right now the Magic is at Castaway Cay, and in two weeks I will be on my way to the Radisson.
I picked up 2 BIG suitcases at a local thrift shop today for 9.00 for both! I also picked up some batteries for the two way radios and camera. I still can't find DS bow tie to his tux. I know I put it someplace "safe" but darn it I just can't find it!!!Anybody have an extra boys bow tie?LOL!

DS is getting really excited about fishing at CC! I think it will be the highlight of the trip for him.

George--So sorry to hear about your friends tragic accident and for it to be on 9/11. Is Monday his funeral since they are closing everything down on that day? My thoughts are with you.

Elaine--- Norm had open heart surgery 7 years ago with a triple bypass. Things have improved so much with that surgery over the years. It is a long procedure, but have a great deal of success with the surgery. I hope things go well for him and my thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

George, sorry to hear about your loss.

Elaine we have our fingers crossed for your dad.

I was out of Kathy's hair during my state guard meeting and she didn't get a chance to clean. Our DD2 came down with the grand baby and they went out to eat;)

Hard to believe that in two weeks we will be putting our happy feet on the magic's deck. Mike:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Hello all,

George and Barb - I am so sorry about your loss. I read that story in the paper what a tragedy.

Elaine - prayers are with you.

I just cannot wait for this vacation. Just think 2 weeks from today - we will be on the boat.

Take Care

Just saw the Magic leave Port Canaveral and pass TwoPalms Cam - this is the last Western before ours. Less than two weeks now - Wow!

I've already packed and repacked my suitcase twice already! That will teach me to pack soooooo early!

Rae

Thank you all for your prayers and best wishes and...pixie dust! I am hoping that my dad will feel much better after this is all over. Will keep my faith up. My uncle is with my parents today. He is my mom's brother. I have had a chance to tidy the house and catch up on a little laundry. I love having company, but when you get so busy going, something has to get left undone. I can only take a messy house and piled up laundry for so long!!!
I must start getting organized to get packing! Just told William he needs to get his pins in order.

The three of us have made up a little "surprise" package for the kids. Just something little. Glad that is finished!
We bought a new digital camera and I have a new laptop. The question I have is...do you bring your laptop with you and dump the pictures on to it? I have a media card that willl hold about 80 pics. Am new to this so wondered what the rest of you do. William wants to bring the computer so he can watch movies on the plane. I told him if he want s to bring it he has to carry it;)
Missed the Magic today, I was washing the floor:p
Can't believe that two weeks from now we will be at dinner on the Magic. WooHoo Have a super weekend (whats left of it!)
Elaine

I just posted this on the main page but I thought I would post it here also. Has anyone ever rented a power boat in GC? If so cand you get to sting ray city? We also want to snokle and scuba and I think this may be the way to go, but if anyone has done this or knows someone that has I would sure like some input. @ weeks and counting. YYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAAA

Hi Everyone !
A quick message to all...To go with Marys' lanyards we are bringing the" pass holders" (plastic" thingies") that go on the end of lanyard...Didn't want you to run out & buy one....

We leave Thursday for pin trading week-end at WDW..Return Sunday--Leave Thursday for WDW before cruise..

Can't wait to meet you all !

Prayers to Elaine & her Dad.

Kin & Bette:earsgirl: :earsgirl: :sunny: :sunny: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Bettemom: Just wondering how you knew it was pin trading weekend at WDW? Do you live fairly close to it? I would love to go do that sometime. We live closer to disneyland though. I believe they have pin trading at the Contemporary don't they? for kids on Fridays? Thanks..Elaine

Thanks to all for your kind thoughts and words I still am in shock. For Mc Neil to shut down a full shift of production says something to how much respect we all have to him and his sister. I have a question for the group. I keep reading where you can see the ship in port what site is that and what camera view? I have seen ships pass a camera but never one in Port Canaveral. I needed a little cheering up today so I just went to the scrap books. Then I took my DS Patrick out to lunch. He is a part time grease monkey at Pep Boys. What other states have Pep Boys out there? When he graduates college he wants to run or own his own automotive parts/repair shop. Elaine your Father and your family are in our prayers. William how about a little Vince Gill on the music front (Country). You guys don't need pixie dust you need the pixie dirt and we are sending it your way. See Ya! and Thanks again!   :earsgirl: :earsboy:

George here is the link to see the magic sail through the channel go to cape canaveral cam start watching about 5:15 est on Saturday afternoons. For the terminal at port canaveral go to port
mike

Thanks PAPA Mike for the site. I had down loaded it before but is there a certain camera angle/view to see the ship docked in port or is it the one from the beach that everyone is looking at. George:wave:

MIke Thanks I just located the Wonder I did not click on the port portion of your post. This is just the little fix I needed. Thanks again. George

We got to see the Magic leave the port yesterday and then go by Two Palms!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: DD2 and Katie were here and we showed her where we would be in the boat and I wonder if I should get a huge sheet to wave from the varandah so she can tell where we are? Nah, we'll be at the sail away party!:bounce:

This morning Mike and I are going to watch the Magic dock at Key West. (We have too much time on our hands.)

thesorceror1, so sorry to hear about your loss.

Elaine, hope your dad comes through with flying colors. Our next door neighbor is in her early 70's and she went in to the hospital for just a "look see" with the scope that goes up her leg to her heart. She started experiencing problems and they slapped her in the OR and did a Quadruple bypass that day. Then they were going to discharge her 3 or 4 days later! She did really well and still lives by herself. Her sons come over ever so often to check on her and to mow her grass. She works at AAA. Has Thursday and Sunday off! Prayers and Pixie dust for your dad.

Cathy, Art, Mike saw you at the game last night! He showed me where Art was sitting with the blue hair on and Cathy was swinging her pom poms!:p :p :Pinkbounc :teeth:  Cathy, girl you're looking good!

VonadP, yes I would call anyway to make sure your docs are on their way. Good luck with them. I seem to remember ours were delayed for awhile last year but then maybe it just seemed to cause we were so anxious to get them. Pixie dust to you.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday. Katie will be here for "Camp Grandpa" tonight. Katie usually goes home late Monday night just exhusted from having to keep us going. I really feel sorry for her. NOT! Stacey tells me how Katie tells her how hard it is to get and keep us moving. This means a trip to the mall with her and a trip to the Carter store. The women at work told me to go to the Oskosh store in the mall too. Hummmmmm...

Take care, Kathy

Mbax..no idea about renting a boat. I use to have some great links to GC sites, but lost them all when my computer got sick!

Vonda...Try no tp get too stressed about your docs. I have heard of passangers who never recived them and were able to check in without them. Just the same I hope you get them soon. What did DCL say when you called? What TA did you use?

George, sorry to here about your friend:(
