09/28/2002 Cruise

A Tannerman? Pure bred yellow lab and about as BRAINLESS as they come. We bought the most expensive purebred puppy that we could find, spent over $1000 training him at a private trainer and he just is as obnoxious as all get out. Finally starting to age a bit, but, it is slow coming.
He is like Jekyl and Hyde. He can be wonderful and sits at my feet all day- but the minute the kids walk in the door from school.......he is a nightmare.

So much for all of the money I spent putting in my drip system in my flower beds last year. He never touched it last year. But has managed to tear it up over the last month.

Spring break here we come.........but, now jeff is getting sick. :( :( :( We may have to cancel out!

smiles Patty

Patty, can't Jeff just recouperate at the resort? And I was thinking you have two dogs...maybe tanner just seems like two dogs ! And I will come do the fitness thing with you!!!!!!!! I ran yesterday afternoon...BIG TIP...never do three 11 minute miles after a healthy helping of chips and Thick & Chunkly salsa!

ANd I never really believed the BON existed...now with Eshannon you will have proof!

Eshannon - In the magical treasures guide, there is agift package called Magical Dreams. It has a story book, two cookies and THE PILLOWCASE! IT is a cool pollowcase with a night scene of the Magic with the Mickey mouse stars in the sky. It is so cool, but was discontinued when we all cruised. I saw a thread where they talked about it being back! I couldn't believe it. So I called the magical treasures line and said, "You know the Magical treasures brochure with the Magical dreams package with the pillowcase with the Magic on it that you can purchase when you cruise on the Disney magic?" He said, "What?" Anyway, it is available, but not for delivery to your home, so i do think I will have to cruise here in the near future.

The over the door hanger is just what you think. The shoe holder that we take and hang over the door but instead of shoes we put KTTW cards and jewelery and other stuff. We never used ours but LOTS of people find them invaluable.

Nice license plate. Our friends love their Sequoya. My license plate says NTVTXN!!!!!!!! On the 60th anniversary jeep!

ANd I really think it is your neighbors who have the problem.

Papa, so glad to see you didn't have to swim home!

Patty and Eshannon, from the same area. Wendy is in Texas and I am from texas...Anyone else hail from the same parts?

Hi Tiggergirl!!!!!!!! Still loving Telecommuting???

See ya'll!

Hey Peagreenid!!! I just realized that you can look at he posters name and see where they are from. DUH!!! No kidding I didn't realize that. I love the Bon Especially their One dayo sales. I will meet you there next time. What part of Boise? We are out at HIdden Springs...You know follow the road to the dump and keep going past it....lol. I hate it when I give people directions and I have to tell them that because it is the easiest way to explain.

Will order the magical treasures pillow cases for our next cruise. Am still flabbergasted that there is someone here going on the cruise.!!! Email me and we can compare kids ages etc. or is that on the site somewhere too?? again lol. Well, it is the am and I am on the computer. I usually make myself wait until the kids go to bed. Must get on with the lovely housework......

Hope that you all get to feeling better soon Patty and crew. Kathy and I are really looking forward to this cruise and meeting everyone. We are animal poor;) Kathy has 4 pekingese, all over 10 years old. 1 taco bell dog that was her mothers that we inherited, 2 ferrets, one 17 year old fat orange cat, male canary and aquarium full of bubble headed gold fish. Oh son and dil have a pom that is with us at the present time. Mike

:bounce: :bounce: READ NOW :bounce: :bounce:
Did you guys know that the MAGIC had a fire in the aft funnel (smoke stack). I was just checking around and found the article and pictures on the WWW.CASTAWAYCLUB.COM site. Seems the fire was on March 9th and they had to close the Mickey Pool and let the kids in the Goofy Pool and the adults were in the crew pool. Check this out!!!!

Be back later...work has suddenly hit the fan!!!!!

Hey eshannon count me as another Idahoan. I may live in Ut now but originally I'm from Twin. Us Idaho people have to stick together.

Goofy Disney I LOVE telecommuting.

Last year while reading these boards I read a post saying a DIS'ers lab was going to have puppies. I noticed he lived in SC so I e-mailed him to see if I might buy a pup. We had been talking about getting a Yellow Lab for quite awhile. Well, one thing led to another and we DID buy a beautiful female Yellow Lab from he and his wife. Her name is shadow and she is the SWEETEST Dog. She is now 10 months old and thankfully the worst of her chewing is behind us. She is also so smart it is spooky sometimes! I would sware she understands everything we say!
We also have a cat named Patches and a turtle named Ralph!

Welcome home Mike and Cathy. Glad you had a fun trip!Did you drive the VW?

GoofyDisney...that's quite a leson to learn! YUCK!

Eshannon...NO! You can't be TOO HOOKED on Disney!I least I sure hope not, or my family is going to have to start a ten step program!!!

Whats one garbage dump over another????? I live in what used to be SIMPLOTS DUMP. We live in Silverado......by Columbia Village...........
I responded to your originaly post about the 9/28/02 sailing....i am the one that would give your 14 year old daughter the best of both worlds......... I have mutt and jeff, 14 year old boy girl twins. And you can ask goofydisney's MIL.....mutt is a handsome one in a tux.......

gotta scoot.........I MIGHT BE GOING TO DL AFTERALL......DH cancelled our mccall trip......ugh!

smiles Patty

Peagreenid, are you going to dl at springbreak??? I have been looking at the airfares. They had some for $94 roundtrip to LA!!! Have been trying to get a hotel.. Usually stay at Grand Californian. Since we have annual passes it could be a relatively cheap trip lol My kids go to hidden springs charter school and so we actually have two weeks spring break. I was thinking of taking thekids the week of april 1 Bill (husband) is driving back to Missouri to deliver one of his mustangs he sold. He is now down to three "toys" Every time he gets a new toy, its time for me to take a trip!!! Wonder how crowded it will be at dl. Thats nuts. It will be crowded. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Okay, this is getting more interesting by the minute. I met Patty in person on the 9/29/01 cruise after many posts on these boards. Met Elaine on the 2/23/02 cruise. Why didn't you guys just ask me to introduce you?????

Elaine, we're still trying to get Riker's insulin doses in the right range. Everyday is an adventure. By the way, his little emergency hospital stay cost more than our 7-night cruise, so I'm very sympathetic about the vet bills. There must be a correlation between Disney fans and animal fans. Seems to me that Disney folks take really good care of their pets.

Keep in touch,

Karen

No spring break trip to DL here.......ARE YOU NUTS! I did that once......and well never again  The crowds were attrocious. I actually was planning on pulling mutt and jeff out of school and taking them 4/20-4/23.....but there are no rooms available. My trip has got to be le'cheap. My part-time job is costing me a little bit at this point.....:( and well my spending money is a little lower than I want at this point. I'll be making some money shortly though.........woohoo! If I can get LS rates I might try that way......... but they have cheap last minute rates at Expedia. Don't know if you've seen that or not. We have finally decided on 5/4/02 (my first week back on night shift....UGH) but there were a lot of rooms available. DH doesn't want to go. After our trips to WDW he said no More DL.
Kids were very disappointed about cancelling out the 5 nights to McCall but DH and I decided that neither one of us were up to 6 days of 10 ft snow........:D
the $94 fares end tomorrow night. We are flying Delta. Mutt and Jeff didn't quite have enough FF miles for a free ticket for September........... So it was going to Cost me $95 for them for their ticket then. So the way I look at it.........It costs me $95 now.....so its like two flights for the price of one.....:smooth:
gotta scoot.........5:00a.m. comes awfully early in the morning. And its a long day at work.
smiles Patty

Rikersmom.......you are going on the cruise aren't you?

Hey, peagreenid--We are currently planning on the 9/28 cruise. Only problem is Riker, the wonder dog. We're having a bit of trouble getting his diabetes under control. He is drinking way too much water--which results in his needing to go out at least once or twice during the night. I don't feel that I can ask anyone to keep him for us while he is in this condition. So--------we have booked the cruise, and we have until the end of July to cancel without penalty. Everything depends on an improvement in his health. Actually, my mental health is suffering with these 2 a.m. wake-up calls. He's such a great little dog. I just hope we can get back to a normal sleep routine.

Are you and your family planning to go?

Karen

Karen, have you considered boarding him with his vet? That's what we did. At the time of our SEpt 01 cruise our new puppy was only 5 mo old and I did not want to ask my BIL (who was house sitting) to take on the responsiblity of taking care of her. Our vet's office offered boarding at a rate slightly higher then regular kennel, but I felt much better leaving her there, knowing she would be well looked after.

Hi, Rellingtwin--

Our vet (whom I love) doesn't board pets unless they are being hospitalized. If worse comes to worst, I do have two sons. Maybe one of them would consider coming "home" to watch their canine brother. The best solution would be for Riker to get his diabetes under control with the right dosage of insulin. I'm very hopeful that this will be our solution.

Thanks for the advice, Karen

Rellingtwin
My golf game should be so good!!! But thanks. I shot an 88, the temps in Alabama were 75-80 ~ Been hanging there all week.

Thanks for the feedback on fishing. Will just spend a little extra time fishing for rainbows on the Kenai in early Sept. Colder those days (~snow~) but it makes the fish aggressive.

Cozumel has a Mexican National Park ~ Snorkeling is good/easy. Chrystina is not a strong swimmer but she enjoys the snorkeling as long as she has Beluga Bubba to hang on to. She did bail out on me at the sight of a barracuda at St Thomas.

GoofyDisney
Chrystina is a native Texan ... Parents in Watauga-Ft Worth area.

Since it appears folks are lining up by geographical boundaries - where are the New England Yankees ~ Y'all know the type ~ they speak the Queen's English - Must warn anyone now, one of my bride's favorite hobbies is to tell stories about my accent (Don't have one!!!) Rest of world has speech impediment!!!

Hello everyone, I have been lurking at work when I get a break and have enjoyed reading about everyone. Just wish I could post from there.

Mike and I enjoyed our trip to Louisiana last weekend and meeting our "honorary" granddaughter. I hope our future granddaughter is half as good a baby as was Jacey. She is a little doll.

power_alaska who is Beluga Bubba? We used to have a huge golden we called Buster who was the love of our lives. We raised him from puppyhood and he was sadly cut down by cancer. It was a long time before we could look at goldens again. I read on someone's post how their dog was chewing up everything. Buster chewed up bicycle seats, tires, handle bars, a huge grape vine that I had, the cable box off the side of the house, a tire off the lawn mower and bits and pieces of things in the house. Loved rocks.

Hi peagreenid, I agree with you. Never do Disney on Spring Break. Did that ONCE and was very unhappy. Our kids did not have a good time standing in loooong lines and pretty much tried to kill us there. We swore never to do it again. I think more than the long lines it was really the combination of the heat and lines that made it so miserable. Being from Tennessee we weren't used to the heat so early in the spring.:(

Hi Rellingtwin, we had a baby born in the back of a car last week just before Mike and I went to La. You know how crack will just shoot those little ones right out? Well, that is exactly what happened. Mom spent the rest of the night sleeping it off and the baby started waking up around 6 a.m. needing help. How many days till we sail? Burnt smoke stack and all. I hope we don't have that kind of excitement. Although the smoke down on deck (?) 1 last year was a little exciting. Was that also the incinerator? No we did not drive Scarlett to La. I didn't want to run the miles up on this one as fast as we did the first one.

Hi Cathy and Art, can't wait to see you either. How's the logo coming along? Mike and I haven't talked about it one way or the other so if you e-mailed him about it I don't know yet. People at work can't get over how we all knew each other before we ever met and was able to pick out who was who just from discriptions over the boards. The first ones we met we knew in the parking lot at the port was Scott, Dan and Dan's mom Nate. They knew us from my car, Scarlett. It was a hoot. Remember the people wondering who all the people were wearing the "Cruisetoberfest" shirts. We even had the cm's wondering about that one. :D I just thought everyone read the boards and would naturally know who we were. ;)

Rikersmom, hope your little one gets his diabeties under control. Do you have to give him shots or pills? I know how upsetting it is when your baby is sick. We have 6 dogs here. Four of them are pekingnese who will be getting their semi annual hair cuts in April. I can't stand the hair in everything. :( I have pregnant dust bunnies ALL the time.

Hi to everyone, gotta get off. Come on Sept 26th. (That is when we are leaving Nashville) Yahoo! Take care. Kathy

I worked out of town yesterday and we had some really bad driving conditions which made it even more interesting. So by the time I hit home I just wanted to "veg" out.

I'm trying to catch up but I want to let you guys know that there are some really nice articles in the AAA (Automobile Club) book we just got in the mail. There is a article on Key West FL, The Atlantis in Nassau and for you PaPa, Nashville! Might be of interest to some of you.

Also ... Our $ Stores have started to get the cheap pool floats for anyone that has kids and wants to pick some up for quick use at the beaches. I did that last year and it was great ... really easy to blow up and if you don't feel like deflating, just give to anyone left on the beach....There are usually some kids that look needy!
Funny thing was that they wanted $6 in the gift shops in St Maarten for the same float that I paid $1 for.

About the over-the-door thingggy ... I use ours for stuff like: Sunglasses, binoculars, camera/film, Fabreeze, Wrinkle Remover, small sewing kit, aspirins/tylenol, first aid kit, small flashlight, zip lock baggies, air freshener, sun tan lotion....you know the "Hey have you seen the...?" stuff.

Well work calls.....check back later.

PS .... not to worry, I'm going to try working on the Logo again and see what happens this time. Now it's got me aggravated and I'm determined to figure it out! Just taking some time...Sorry!

Hi, Kathy--

Thanks for the good wishes for Riker. We have a vet appointment this afternoon, and I need all the happy thoughts you can muster.

Karen

Hello Everyone,
Weather here has turned reallly warm...70 today. Isn't it nice peagreenid? Wish I could appreciate it a little more. Have come down with strep throat and ear infection. Yuk. It is so warm we are opening the pool. Pool doctor came today and I said YES go ahead and turn the heater on. My dear husband will flip when he gets home. Oh well, we aren[t going anywhere for spring break so that will be our spring break money (heating the pool!!) YOu all scared me off going to dl. Just as well, I would have been upset to go and stand in long lines.

Karen, Remember dee from the cruise? I have tried emailing her but I think I wrote it down wrong. do you have her email address. She lives in Seattle and we are going up in a few weeks time. She also has a five year old and we were going to get together. Thanks.
