09/28/2002 Cruise

I know I'm a saint........but you don't have to have a special day for me.........:D :smooth: :D

No postcards here. I even filled out my questionaire, but I've never managed to get a magazine. (maybe DH throws them away........ :( )

home sick today.........i've sneezed, hacked and blown more green stuff out of my body the last few days than I could ever imagine was possible.

Okay........Wendy..........I had to start with the easy ones first you know.

smiles Patty

Ok, spent a few hours today reading every post on this thread. Learning the lingo, getting to know everyone. I booked a room at the Radison. But have no idea about how to get a postcard for a $50 discount.
Kelly R- I agree, we do have the nicest beaches!
Rellingtwin- Thanks for all your help. Nice to have a guide through all of this.:earseek: :earsboy:

KellyR and TwinAve (and anyone else who has been to Panama City Beach) Isin't it funny when a place SAYS they have "white " sand beaches and they show the picyure! I want to say...HEY, THAT'S NOT WHITE SAND! That's yellow!!!!If you want to see white sand , go to PCB. I kid you NOT...the sand looks like sugar! It is so white the "heat" reflexs off it and it never gets hot!

That said...I stiil am looking forward to seeing the beaches in Cozumel and Grand Cayman!

Twinave - PCB? I am at Enterprise, AL ~ Passing by PCB this weekend to play golf in Gainesville w/brother from Maine. Was a GREAT weekend to be at the beach 75-80!!! on the links
What postcard and discount being talked about?

peagreenid - Hope that you are feeling better ~ battling "throat tickle" at the moment ~ nasty stuff goin round

RellingTwin - Beach Opinion: Grand Cayman, PCB, Cozumel ~ Mostly cause I REALLY had a GOOD time in Grand Cayman and was so "spirited" at Carlos & Charlies that Cozumel is a haze....

ALSO - This Boston Irishman thanks you for remembering:
... May GOD hold you all in the palm of HIS hand ...
... Happy St Patrick's Day!!! ...

Does anyone have any knowledge about fishing excursions?

Respect your elders, teach the young ...

Hi, Patty--

Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. I don't think it's fair for moms to get sick. There oughta be a law against it.

It's so nice to see familiar names on these boards. It makes me happy to know that there are such nice people all around the country.

Let's hope you feel much better VERY soon.

Take care,

Karen

Just finished cleaning up after our Ham & Cabbage dinner. Happy St Pat's day to you all.

Have we gotten into a rut or what .... not very many people on this thread. Or is it cause the site is having a lot of server problems. I know it gets frustrating when "Try again later the server is busy" comes on, but what the heck, keep trying.

I'm really confused on why so many have not written Mary with their info. How we going to know the ins and outs of our group without it.

The woodworking and craft show was really interesting. Came home with a lot of ideas and Art got a bunch of "new toys". So far today I made a really nice big wind chime for about 1/3rd of what it cost to buy one. The sound is super. I also made a "Mickey Mouse" feeder for the birds ... it holds a whole apple or orange for them to pick at. The ones I saw were shaped like Cardinals or Blue Jays ... how boring.....I had to make it a Mickey Head to match the squirel feeder that has a Mikecy Head cut out for the squirel to go in and out of.

Hope Mike & Kathy get home from their day trip safely. Seems that there are a few storms lurking out there that may make driving tricky for some of us.

Well got to finish some projects ... check back tomorrow.

Cathy

Alaska, was 75-80 the temp or your golf score?! I am looking forward to comparing beaches. Did you do other stuff in Cozumel besides C&C?
The postcard is talked about in a thread at the top of this board. It offers 1st time DCL cruisers a shipboard credit of 50.00.
I have looked at some fishing excurtions, but the problem is they want a deposit and if the ship can not make it to port you are ont of luck. I have also looked into "bottom" fishing at Castaway Cay, but it was not being offered when we were there last time. If it is offered this time I have promised my DS he can go. He is crazy about fishing and would rather fish then almost anything else!

My favorite Irish saying: May you be in Heven an hour before the devil knows you're dead!

Kathy, the crafts sound great. Glad you had a nice trip.

I am also confused as to why no-one has responed to me with info. I am going to offer "an incentive".

I have ordered red/white/blue Lanyards to be given out at the sail away party. Since I did not know how many would be sailing I only ordered 5 doz. I will give these out to the DIS'ers and members of their family/party, who are on the "List".
I promise this info is NOT for public information and will not be shared with anyone other then those on the list.
Kathy and Papa, these are the same as the ones I gave out last year. Let me know if you still have them or if you need new ones.
If MORE then 60 are needed (I HOPE this is true) I will order more.

RT, I sent my info to you last week. Now with the big push from you guys, I am thinking maybe you didn't get it. Let me know.

Did everyone know that the pillowcase is back for sale from magical Treasures. Does anyone care but me?

Happy St Pats!

Nothing new round here. our friends leave Fri for the 3/23 Magic. I am so excited for them! I have been info central for them. I call my friend like 3 - 4 times a day plus emails and links getting them ready! And they are traveling with some other people from our town, just by chance. They are gonna be seated together for dinner.

Friday, I was in buying a pair of shoes the same time they were, and while we don't know each other, we all know the shoe shop owner, so they were telling him about their Disney cruise, and I was listening, and then I jumped in and asked if they were these people, and they said yes, so I introduced myself. They knew who I was through my friend who would pass on everything I told to her to them also, and everyone in town knows my DH, so....we had this great "meet" in the shoe store.

ANyway, they are all so excited about going. I have tried to tell my best friend EVERYTHING I can think of. i got her hooked on the boards and when I say "Barb says..." or "on Dave's site"...she knows exactly what I mean!

I can hardly wait for her to go and can't wait for her to get back and hear about her trip!

Patty, weren't we just sick together before Christmas???? I thought we got rid of all possible fluids then?

Have a great start to your week everyone! Anyone else started packing yet??? heheheheheh
e

Cruise List 2.0 is now in your mail boxes. Goofy Disney, I did get your info, Thanks!!

I am glad they will again have the pillow cases. I will probably order one for each of my children.

A DIS Meet in a shoe store! WOW!!!! I know what you mean about giving info to others going to WDW or on DCL. I am the "resident expert" at work. Anyone who is going to either WDW or DCL comes to me for info/advise. I am always happy to help. One of our Nurse Practioners is at WDW tonight, at a confrence at The Beach Club.

Packing???? Well, yes I have sort of. I have started buying stuff for the trip. I keep a suitcase under the bed and whenever I get something for the trip I put it in there. I plan on doing the same as I did last year. Each time I go shopping I buy something for the trip. Maybe just a tube of toothpaste, or an underwater camera. By the time the trip is a month away I look at what I have and what I still need. I will buy summer clothes for the kids when summer is almost over and it all goes on clearence. Also there is a K-Mart near-by and I plan on getting a few things from them before they close their doos for good. Since I bought a Formal dress last year as well as a tux for DH I will not have to worry about that this time around.

Hello All, I am wondering if our information got to you also. Since I am really "Dopey" still about doing all the different things on this sight I will post it here and also try and send it again. I think all that you have is my name. Bill Shannon and Elaine Shannon and possibly William, age 10 (will be 11 by that time) As I said before, will is going to dw with his dad in June for a special trip, However, he (and we) are thinking we will bring him along too. We do have a category 6 room so it shoulnd't be a problem to add him at the last minute, should it?? Can someone tell me about the pillowcases? What are they and do I order them or buy them ahead of time?

Love your idea of keeping a suitcase under the bed. Have my daughters graduation "gift" trip to disney we are taking in May and then hubby's and son's trip in June and then finally....our cruise.

Karen, Molly (our golden retriever) had the vet today!!! $500 for surgery on her paw. She is not diabetic. But does definitely has epilepsy. We love our goldens like they were our children but everytime I spend money on the vet I think about it's equivalent ijn disney!!! two plane trips. five nights at POR,.,,,, etc. Oh well...

Patty - Hope you are feeling better by now. It's no funny being sick and green.

Mary - Art & I still have our laynards from last year. Love-em, putting them in the carry-on. If you remember, last year I made us each a name tag with my Goofy on it. I'D BE WILLING TO TRY AND MAKE NAME TAGS FOR ANYONE WHO LISTS WITH YOU, THAT CAN BE ATTACHED TO YOUR LAYNARDS ... Also as an incentive to get people to sign up!

ESHANNON - my DD (DisneyDalmation) ASH LEE says whoof to Molly and hope she feels better soon. Right now she is in trouble
with her "parents" cause she broke her collar yesterday and went on a romp into the woods by our house for a while. Scared the p..p out of me! As I recall, I think RellingTwin also has a retriever. I know Papa has his own zoo ... dogs, cats, bird, fish & ferrets.

GoofyDisney: What a riot, shoe store "meet". And I thought I was bad. Hey, it dosen't hurt to keep spreading the word and reliveing the memories at the same time!

Hate to admit it but I do what Mary does ... so far I have gotten two really nice fancy dresses for the dinners and have started to label my over the door shoe rack. If any of you haven't tried them yet, let me know. I saw and got mine at WalMart and they are under $10. One of the best ideas I ever got from these boards ... right below all of the wonderful DIS FAMILY I MET ON THE CRUISETOBERFEST!

Well check back later.

We have a black lab named Kona. He is one. He is a terror. Well, he is probably a really good dog. He does mind well, and he is relatively mind-mannered, but when he messes up, he messes up big. Like when he ate the wallpaper off my wall in the kitchen. And how he has eaten EVERY SINGLE malibu light in our front yard. How he ate my magazines that are in my magazine rack in the living room including some that I was saving.

I know he is still young. But for the most part, he is a giant, sweet PITA.

DD thinks he is there for her personal enjoyment! And he thinks so too, so I guess its not too bad.

But he is big, and he thinks he is little.

And it occurred to me last night...mY best friend and I keep talking about the cruise, but I don't even know what clothes she is taking!!!! (aren't we supposed to talk about that first??)

okay...have a great day. Patty...how are your dogs? And I do hope you feel better. I am sure whatever you consumed on YOUR day yesterday must have killed off any infection!!!!

OK how exactly can I get a pillow case - since our only "child" is my DD (See prior post) and she won't be on the cruise .... just how can I wrangle a pillow case?

Has anyone heard from PaPa today, I heard that they were having flash flood warnings in the state of Tennessee ... hope he and Kathy are OK.

Just wondering how many of this group are taking their first Disney Cruise? If we can get some kind of idea, then we can probably be more helpful in our posts. What to wear, what to take, what you really don't need to take, what is handy to have and what you can't go without, etc! :bounce:

So far my husband and I have done two 4 day Disney and last year we did the 7 Day Eastern. Since my SIL talked me into our first Disney Cruise ... I'm hooked. You don't have to go far to get dinner or see the shows, or see the movies or swim, etc ... and from day to day you wake up in a whole new place!

HINT ... A lot of people go to the movies at night after the shows and it gets cold in there .... so a lot of us take the extra blanket and pillow so you can get really comfy. The kids are usually in their jammies!

Well check back later.....

I'll tell you the reason why I've not emailed my info. I never check my private email anymore and my work email is doing some weird stuff. I still want to be involved guys, I'm just having technical difficulties. As soon as I get it all straightened out I'll let you know.

We booked 4 nights of fall fantasy at the boardwalk before the cruise. I'm so excited. I'm just trying to figure out how our once in a lifetime vacation turned into an annual event! My sister calls us the Disney pigs.

Tiiigergirl .... Just tell your sister that it's an incurable addiction and you have to go for group therapy with the rest of us addicts!
You could have a worse vise.

Has anyone heard anything about the security at the port these days? Are they still confiscating a lot of stuff or have they slacked off. Can we still take on soda and beer, etc.

Any word if there are new shows for the Western Route?

I just picked up a really good book on the "Caribbean Ports of Call" by frommer's. I got it at Borders for about $10 and interesting reading, if anyone is interested in boning up on our stops.

Well time to go relax .... have a good night!

ESHANNON Our Golden Retriever Bud had epilepsy. He was put on medication to control the sizures. But after a year on the meds, he started getting sick again. We put him to sleep when our vet said we should. He was 11 years old. We now have "Sandy" another Golden Retriever. IMHO they are the greatest breed out there. Hope Molly is doing better.

GoofyNut This will be my family's first cruise ever. We are very excited, and feel lucky to have my sis, (Rellingtwin) and these boards to help us with any questions or problems that come up.
Still working on getting a Tux for my DH and DS. Luckily still have PLENTY of time. :)

DD screen name is Patronis 90, don't know how my post got under her name. Must have been a "cyber hic-up"

Hi all we just walked in the door. Fantastic weather in Baton Rouge, La this weekend. Sunny and mid eighties. We visited with the young couple that we met on our first cruise in 1997. They had a baby girl last august and as the honorary grandparents we went down and visited. Had a fantastic time!!!!

Stopped in Slidell, La this morning and got a ton of mardi gras beads!!! Ok ladies you know how you get to collect those strings of beads;) ;) ;) Just kidding the wife would kill me and I wouldn't live to make my 30th wedding anniversary.

Will write more tomorrow, 600 mile drive has left me pooped out. Mike

Hello All: A few questions. WHAT ARE THE PILLOWCASES??? We have only taken one disney cruise and I didn't see anything like that. Also, what is the over the door hanger? Like a shoe hanger??? All my neighbors think we are nuts to keep taking disney trips. THey think one time at disneyworld is enough?? Yeah right! But I am almost embarrassed everytime they know we are going somewhere and when they ask and we tell them disney something they all look at us like we are crazy to be going again. So glad I found this website so now I can "talk" to others who are just as enthralled with disney as we are.

Molly my lovely golden is great again. She chewed the bandage off and is walking, albeit a little gingerly.

Just got my plate for our new Sequoia. I finally broke down and got one that says DSNYMGK Not really meaning the ship, just disney magic in general. Took the all white vehicle to a detailer today. He is putting a red sweep on the side and yellow and black pinstripes along side it. Husband wants to have someone paint a goofy on the back (painting) sound familiar??? Too bad it is copyrighted!!!
I think something is wrong with me. Can you be too hooked on Disney??? I never used to be on the computer as much as I have been the last six months. I find I am continually reading the disney web sites I visit. Oh well, I suppose I could be hooked on worse things. And at least this is a family habit.

Picked up something neat from Idaho for everyone to put on their lanyards. We are really looking forward to this cruise. Have a nice evening all.

Did I just read that right? You are from Boise, Idaho. Wow...the world really is small!!! And to think we may be on the same cruise............LOL.

smiles Patty

To the rest of you.........I am still alive and kicking......coughing.....but....still kicking. I just can't seem to get out of bed.

Thanks for all of your get-wells and kind thoughts. I am dying to go on this cruise. I guess I'll be able to go shopping at the Bon with E-shannon now...........Hey goofy.......want me to get you a dress? Actually Goof, I thought maybe you could come to Boise the week before and do the Womens Fitness Celebration with me!
