09/28/2002 Cruise

I can't remeber having SO much fun planning a vacation. And I LOVE to plan!:p It's looking like a group of 9 families (27 total) at the Radisson on 9/27, 15 couples at the Brunch, and 5 groups for a total of 14 for Capt. Marvins. Rellingtwin and I are currenting working on our Cozumel excursion. We are trying to choose between Fury Cat. or Eagle Ray Tours. The clock is ticking.....:bounce:
Love the new thread about how DH's feel about cruising.Hoping my DH will want to book again. Later, Ave

Cathy I go back to the doctor in the am for my third shot of rocephin(sp?). Tush is good for an old man;) although I think that there is a target painted on it now:)

Glad that you folks in PA have gotten some rain. I need some cool weather here to help me get rid of the mosquitoes. Trap is working, but there are still a lot of them.

Ave these boards are a source of great information and a way to get over the post cruise blues by planning your next one.:bounce: :bounce: Mike

Rikersmom, GoofyNut & Papa - Thanks for all the great ideas. You must have called her & collaborated!!! Another cruise? She'll get that anyways. (I like cruises - I like being in/on the water). New car? Not her, she wants a truck, a BIG TRUCK, wasts to be the ROAD BOSS!!! TiVO - Doesn't watch enough TV ... but good idea.
Alaska Pins for all of you for helping me out

In the end, jewelry, card, my half of the On-board credit to help offset the "mulitplier factor" she applies to her half. Some distorted logic from the "MAN BOOK". Anytime, I ask how come or why she says "it's in the Man Book". I say 'let me see this book" to which she responds "Sorry Honey, it's not permitted" To that I respond "says who?" Answer: "It's in the ManBook"

I gave up many years ago .........

Well, must prepare for a weekend on Prince William Sound. Fishing again - Silver Salmon are running. Need more halibut too!

HH&GB to all

Boy we are busy! I just woke up an hour ago and thought I would catch up on the boards and it took me an hour.

Mike was babysitting with Katie yesterday when he had to go to see the doctor and get his injection. I asked him if he was crazy but he laughed and said Katie didn't see her grandpa's tushie but Faye the nurse got to see it. I asked him how much did he have to pay her.;) I have never seen cellulitis before and it sure looked nasty the day he asked me if one leg looked different. It was swollen half again as big as the other one.

I have been a nurse for 18 years in the nursery and that is why I don't see stuff other people have seen. I came right out of nursing school and except for the two weeks orientation I was never on an adult or pediatric floor. so........

Yes please include me with your group Mary. Thanks!
Fishing, that is the life.

Cathy, I had my pictures out at work and showed the women there the Mickey ears to get on the boat and they were properly impressed. If you take your snorkle and masks you can float around and watch them. I think I remember that the boat that my sis and I were on had masks avalible but I don't remember any snorkles. I would like to take mine, don't forget your underwater disposible camera! Oh, and make sure to make a mark or figure some way to remember yours from the others on the boat.

It is going on 3 a.m. and I am going with DD and DGD tomorrow to get "bare butt" pictures made at the photography studio. Stacey said that they put a big sunflower bonnet on Katie's head and take the shot. I am interested to see how they do it. Never had those done when mine were little.

Well, enough, take care going to try to sleep a little longer before we have to wrestle Katie to the photographer's. We have found out that she loves going with out a diaper.;) Then she wets EVERYTHING!:p :o Kathy

Hello everyone another day closer to the cruise:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Cathy, Art and anyone else driving down be sure to buckle up and watch out for those crazy drivers on the road. We want everyone to arrive safely.

Just a quick question. How many enjoy the breakfast buffet at topsides versus sit down restaurants? We enjoy topsides as when we want something else we can just get up and get it.:D Mike

Mike - Art & I like Topsiders Buffet cause you can get what you want and then have a nice chair either overlooking the ocean or one of the ports.

IF INTERESTED ... WWW.KEYWESTATTRACTIONS.ORG for info about what to do in Key West!

Another weekend closer to the cruise ... getting more & more anxious to get started. Even got out the maps for the drive down.

I guess I'll make us more "DIS Business Cards" to hand out if anyone wants one. ALSO, got an idea from Kathy ... make a few and get them laminated as tags for the cameras. Forgot that most of the underwater ones will look alike and get mixed up easily. Also ... Not a bad idea to stick one to Art's ESPN mug.

Well have to break up this dream to go back to work...

Hi Mike,

we prefer to have breakfast at the Parrot Key over Topsiders because of the great choice of different fruit, but unfortunately we have more than year to go :(
But today something happened which lessened my envy towards you lucky guys of the Cruisears: Our travelagent called and announced that she is billing the final payment for our trip to Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) and submitted the flight data.
Now we're $2700 lighter, but full of happy thoughts ;) The first thing I made, was reservations for seats in the back of the nonsmokers section. Yes, on European flights this vice is still allowed and last time we flew to Fuerte we sat in the first row behind the stinkers and nearly suffocated
In six weeks we're off for two weeks of sun'n'fun :bounce:

A great weekend to you and all your fellow cruisers from Good Ol' Germany

There is nothing we like better than getting up walking a bit then getting up to Topsiders for breakfast. I don't think we have ever eaten breakfast anywhere else on either of our other two cruises. Selection of food's and looking out at the ocean doesn't get any better than that. Except for maybe getting a bloodymary or mimosa that you can probably get at the other locations. If anybody has eaten at the other locations and enjoy them please let us know what they are like, and what do they servre differently. Was it Mary or RikersMom who like the chocolate croussant(spelled badly I know, didn't take french) and where do you get that Barbara would like that especially if you could get them in the early am with coffee. Cloudy and cool here today thank God. Please send some of that" Pixie Dust" for or minners today. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

HI everyone,

We have hardly had any rain, but when we were ready to get our driveway resealed doesn't it rain. Finally able to get it done Thursday afternoon and then rained Thursday night. At least it didn't wash away. So for my fellow PA cruisers, plan to get the driveway resealed and maybe we can get more of that much needed rain.

I prefer Parrot Cay over Topsiders (Beach Blanket on Wonder). I think the selections of foods is better. I was disappointed with the Mickey waffles at Topsider which is why I went to eat there. I do like that you can sit out side at Topsiders.

Now I have a question about when we can call for our excursions. At the Grand Caymans, we plan to do the Island Tour and Stringray snorkel since we want to see some of the Island. For Cozumel we are doing the Tulcum ruins. I know we can call 60 days out, but will it be on 7/28 which is two months out or do you think it will have to be 7/30 which is exactly 60 days out.

Prayers for the miners and their families and for all those touched by the recent events in the news.

Nancy

padisneyfan, I asked Rellingtwin the same question. I have a fax machine at work, and was thinking about sending my excursion requests on 7/29. But would hate to mess-up and send it too early or too late. Disboard GURU, AKA Rellingtwin promises to get an answer.
Had to work a little late tonight, we had to do an office surgical procedure. A belly-button piercing!:p This is the third employee we've done, and have another one on Monday. No one is charged, because they are employees, but Doc is thinking this may be a way to make some "easy money". I spent some time on the phone this evening calling around to see what the going rate is. Maybe a new career here. LOL Later, Ave'

It's me (Karen) who is the chocolate croissant fan. Yes, Barbara, they are available about 6:30 a.m. at the coffee station on deck 9. I'm an early riser, so I enjoy one with tea while Ed sleeps in a bit. They are also available at the Topsider's Buffet, and I usually have one more (shhhhh!) with breakfast. We are in the group who prefers dining outside at Topsider's for breakfast. In fact, if you ask Ed, that is his favorite thing on the cruise--food wise. Breakfast is his favorite meal anyway, and he really likes being able to help himself. I love the omelets made to order. Yummy, yummy (which our favorite server Ferdinand says).

Chocolate croissants have always been available on the pastry tray at the other breakfast locations.

Elaine--I picked up a Mickey Pennsylvania pin for William today. If he already has one, he can use it for trading.

Wish we were cruising right now--

Karen

You guys are making this newbie hungry. I'm already looking forward to the chocolate croissants!

Hello,

@Goofynut - thanks for the package received it today - the decals are really cute.

Chocolate croissants - sounds wonderful.

Nancy - my inlaws just got their driveway sealed yesterday - we received some rain today - surprise surprise.

Take Care - prayers for the miners

TwinAve---We have at least a day or two for RellingTwin to find out when we can book the excursions. I just read where someone couldn't get that Island/stingray excursion because it was full so it is making me nervous that I don't want to get shut out. I have a fax at home so if I can do it on Sunday will take care of it then. Belly button piercing sounds painful to me. I know that the younger girls really like them. Maybe you could make some money on the cruise and set up shop doing belly button piercing in your stateroom. I got my ears pierced in nursing school; using the hatpins from our nursing cap. Of course, we sterilized them with alcohol, plus drank alcohol to take the pain away. Still have the same holes.

GoofyNut---Thanks so much for the package, it came today in the mail. The decals are really cute. Are we putting them on the front or back of the shirts? Plus are we going to be graded on how good of job we did? This is like one of those home ec skills that I am not very good at, so I hope I don't mess it up.

Karen---I didn't even know that there were PA Mickey pins, I have to get to the Disney store. The closest one to me is in Lancaster and they don't ever have a very good selection of things in the store.

Jul---I'm telling you that driveway sealer thing is the way to get the rain to come.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Nancy

Our thoughts are with the families of the miners there in PA.

Eric my friend and Anja who is small enough to be tinkerbelle, enjoy your trip to the canary islands and have some fun in the sun. We are still planning on going with you next year on cruisetoberfestII. The finances are going to have to be worked out as the new family addition is a budget wrecker;) Good to see that Dan and Scott along with Tuilrose, and Cheese Please are also going.

Kimber we must not forget about the fantastic chocolate souffle at Palo's:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Karen isn't chocolate one of the basic food groups?

Ave the belly button thing sounds painful:eek: Mary must be busy as she hasn't been able to post much the last day or so.

Don't forget the magic sails tomorrow afternoon and we can watch it on cape canaveral cam

Mike

We have a family reunion to go to today. It is about an hour away in College Grove Tenn. and am really looking forward to it. It is with my dad's side of the family. Sadly that is also the part of the family we lost two out of. His older brother the day after Katie was born and then his sister a few weeks later. There is only two sisters left of 7. We all get together to see who married, had babies, got fatter etc...;) We eat and play games, talk eat, play with the babies, eat, talk, you get the picture.....

Prayers for the miners and their families.

About the waffles at Topsiders, I love them! I don't like the syrup so each time we go to Crackerbarrel resturants to eat and I order pancakes or french toast I keep one of the Vermont Maple Syrup bottles. I have quite a few to take with me on the cruise. I am planning to have some with my waffles! In my opinion, there is nothing better than Vermont Maple Syrup and hopefully it will be just as good over a Mickey Mouse waffle.:bounce: We'll just see.;)

Eric, Mike is already talking about the Cruisetoberfest in 2003. He is really excited about it. So Tulirose and Dan and Scott, Cheese Please and everyone else get ready for some more fun!

Cathy, the mosquito magnet did not work very well, it only caught about 40 mosquitoes in 2 and a half days of working. Heck, we swat that many when we try to go swimming. Mike boxed the stupid thing up yesterday and took it back to Home Depot. I was disgusted. The mosquitos are taking us over and the west nile virus was discoverd in my SIL's neighborhood. YUCK! That is about 5 min from me.

Breakfast is ready, so will get off for now. Take care everyone and have a great day. Remember the Magic sails today. Kathy

Okay, you guys. Chocolate croissants, chocolate souffles. For those of us who haven't been on DCL, just how much weight are we going to gain? Anybody care to share? Does anybody really care? I guess I should plan on saving my looser outfits for late in the week, right?? I'm just kidding, I don't care if I gain 10 pounds--I just want to enjoy myself.

Morning all,
Have decide to bring along the Chocolate to read!!! Saw the movie, but haven't read the book yet. It will be appropriate to read whilst eating the croissants! We didn't go to Palos on our last trip but are looking foreward to it this time. Especially the brunch.

Karen, William will be thrilled with the Pa pin. We actually went and stood in line for the Idaho one when it came out, but no luck. Rearranging this pins has become a hobby.

We always ordered room service the night before and I sat on the verandah with coffee and croissants. Everyone else slept!
Then we went up to Topsiders. Thought this time we'd like to try some of the different options. Has anyone seen the thread about the food on the Western? Its on the dis cruise trip reports and I believe her name was Anira. She posted a fantastic report with loads of pictures. She has pictures of everything including most of the food!

Papa, Just went for my morning walk with the "goldens" and got four mosquito bites. That is terrible for our area. You mean there will be more than that at the Raddison?? Guess I better bring some OFF! Make sure you really do stay off your leg. Won't bore you with all the yukky details, but I also go it. Had the many rocephin shots, iv antibiotics and finally surgery. It became necrotizing faciitis (sp) thats the flesh eating bacteria!!!It wasn't pleasant! Take care of yourself!

Nancy and Barb and husbands...Got our reservations linked.

DH is going down to Reno to HOt August Nights and hopes to sell the Cobra there. More spending money? Bye, Elaine

I just spoke with DCL. We can call Tuesday morning to book our excursions. Have your dialing fingers ready!!

Hope everyone gets what they want.

Good luck!
