09/28/2002 Cruise

Big Day Today...March Of Dimes Walk-A-Thon. Our team raised over $2000. and we had 17 walkers! Which is beyound fantasic for such a small group. I walked the whole thing, six miles, but it felt a lot longer! Anyway, had fun!
One of our patients was the Walk Ambassador. She had her baby at 25 weeks due to an placental abruption. Her baby is alive and well due to the work of MODs. She is also a fellow nurse at my "other job".
I am now the proud owner of a cable modem. Finally got around to having the puter hook-up to cable. No more busy signals when trying to call home, and no more getting bumped off, I hope.
Another week closer to the cruise! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Hope everyone has a great weekend! Ave

Patty, I'm so sorry to hear about the tragedy! How horrible. Hope things get better soon.

Take care, Kathy

Still trying to get Katie's quilt together. Sewing the 3 little diamonds together wasn't as hard as I thought. Sewing the blocks into rows was harder. Sewing the rows into a quilt is awful. I have ripped it out at least 15 times. Wish it were squares instead. Kathy

Way to go Twinave! I was going home yesterday morning and saw the "Music City Marathon" runners out. It was an awsome sight to see that many people out for a good cause. I was so lucky to be going under the over pass they were running over. Some people were late to the hospital due to the runners and the patrol cars blocking the interstate ramps.

Hello everyone, Kathy

thanks for your thoughts- This was a very difficult week at work.
They are holding a joint service tomorrow. I'm not very good with funerals :( so a co-worker and friend will be attending with me.

Tuli- loved your pictures.....I had seen some of them before at the start of this thread I believe. It really is nice to put a face on fellow disers and a real treat to meet them all for the first time.

eshannon- Sorry to hear that you were sick. Seems to be a lot of everything going around. I've just had friends that had pneumonia, another with a ruptured apendix and another with viral meningitis.

We leave for Disneyland on 5/4/02- Saturday bright and early. Mutt and Jeff are excited. Now if only I could get them to fill out their missed school forms and get the teachers to sign them, oh why do they have to wait until the last minute.

Its been a very busy week, I've sold 2 trips to Las Vegas, 2 cruises to Alaska and a trip to Hawaii! Woohoo!

Don't know if the rest of you have noticed but the 9/28 sailing appears almost sold out. There are NO cats 10, 11, or 12's left.
I couldn't believe it the last time that I checked.

Goofy-
I know you are having a wonderful time. All of you folks that live closer to WDW are so LUCKY! Guy and I are still thinking about retirement in Florida. (I want floriday resident rates!)

Relling Twin- Mutt and Jeff saw the Rookie yesterday at a birthday party. I haven't heard how it was. Did you enjoy it?

Twinave- congrats on the Walk-A-Thon. I did that several times when I was younger. I am going to have to get more info from you on the cable modem. I would love to get DSL but it is not available in my area.

Mike and Kathy- Sounds as if Daughter is doing better. Glad to hear it. Mutt and Jeff were a month early. And although they did great, it would have been better to have them full term. It sounds like your taking every day, 1 at a time. Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll make it.

I hope to talk to you all soon......
smiles Patty

eshannon, glad to hear you're better. Hope you get all the pain over with before your trip. A robot, huh? Could he have had a glich, bug or what? Would you recommend a robot for surgery? I work in a city owned hospital and we ain't got nothing like 'at. Just imagine! Shoot, we are so poor that the nurses supply the wipes for our babies' bottoms. :D

Speaking of medical things, Mike just let me know this afternoon that the doctor's office called me on Friday and let him know that all my biopsies came back ok. He is as bad as my children passing messages.

My son just brought his sugar glider in and it has really grown! He is so cute! Let me see, add sugar glider to: one orange 17 year old cat, 2 three year old ferrets, 4 pekingese dogs (we lost two in January or there would be 6) one male canary, and a tank of oranda goldfish. Can we say "menagerie"? I hope that is spelled correctly.:D I want a female one. They are just too cute. Smack me, I don't need any more animals!

Karen, glad Riker is better.

Patty, a friend of mine at the hospital had twins a month early too! The little boy was #2 twin and had to be on oxygen for a few days. He was so much bigger than the little girl. She came out first and was so full of vim and vigor but had to stay only because of her size. It is strange how that happens. We just had a twin discharged that weighed in at over 4 pounds and his brother was only 2 pounds. Nope! No twin to twin transfusion either. Just came out small. Initially he was the better of the two but got sick when his tummy got sick. He is better now. I had him Friday night and he weighs 3 pounds now and is nipple feeding very vigorously! I think he is missing his brother and wants to go home to him and Mama.

Take care everyone. Mike is vegging out on the couch right now. This weekend with the State guard wore him out. He looks like one pooped puppy. I guess I'll let him go on to bed. He looks so tired. I was lucky and got a nap this afternoon after walking away from that darn quilt. It is a pain to fit 432 pieces of material back together after cutting them apart and make them look good. Oh well, Katie girl will have it one way or the other. (any takers?):D Suggestions?

Come on September! Kathy

Good morning all!!

A new day dawns and the grass needs cutting. I will have to let it dry out some before starting the lawn mower. My son is still asleep also;)

Annual training was tough on this old man. Since I retired I am not used to getting up that early:D

Glad that they fixed the countdown timers again. Mary is still the official word on the number of days. Way to go on the walk Ave and crew.

Mary the docs would be here sometime in August. Wish that we did get them in July:bounce:

Have to run as my tummy is growling. Mike

Happy Monday All,

Peagreenid., Are you a travel agent also? You keep mentioning "trips" you sold. My mom and I want to go to Vegas for a few days to see my brother. Any good specials? Also, any chance you could pick me up an extra set of maps and schedules from disneyland? I am going June 9th. I always love to read the stuff ahead of time?

Papa, the robot isn't a new thing here. Its been here for awhile at St. Luke's/ My doctor is famous for his work with it. I was kinda nervous and even asked him what would happen if the power went out in the middle of the operation. HE said not to worry. They have back up power!!!

I think we might also be taking our younger son. He is six. Will says NOOOOOO!!! but i feel guilty telling Patrick he can't go. The dcl said to go ahead and add him in case the ship reaches maximum capacity. We can always change it .. Anyone have a six year old going? He really didn't get into the clubs too much and I was kinda looking foreward to reading on the deck in the sun???? He was most interested in eating ice cream and playing ping pong last time!!! HOpe you all have a wonderful week.
Elaine

Patty I checked the website this afternoon and there is nothing below at cat 9 available. Guess this means that you will have to get a cat 5 or 6:) Hope that everything is going well as can be expected there. I have seen several commercials of your states chief executive and the dancing idaho spud (spudy).

Well the 5/11 bunch leave in less than two weeks and they can give us some impressions of the ports of call. Mike

Things are okay. Went to the Funeral today. They held a joint service for both and they were buried together. I spent quite a bit of time talking with his parents and they were just great, and they seemed to be taking the pain of losing Derek rather well, which made it so much easier for me to talk with them. I'm not good at funerals and probably any other time I would have avoided talking with a family I didn't know because it was so difficult for me. When I told his mother I had booked their honeymoon for them she put her arm around me and immediately walked me over to her husband. He thanked me again and again for talking Derek into getting the cancellation insurance. He chuckled then and said that he didn't know how I managed to do it, but, he appreciated that I had. It made me very glad that I had taken the effort to put a little "light" into their day. After a rather lengthy service I headed with friends for Margaritas. The weather was beautiful and the day turned out nice.

Yes I'm surprised at how full the ship is, so far out....I do hope that I can talk Guy into it, when the time comes.

Take care everyone.......we are off to Disneyland on Saturday. I think I need a little Magic of the Mouse. When I come back, we will be back to our Night rotation for 4 months.
smiles Patty

Patty enjoy disneyland and hope that you all have a great vacation. Talked to DD#2, Stacey and the doctor has scheduled the c-section for May21st. Did any of you guys know how much a chick magnet a young baby can be? Hold a baby in your arms and the young girls come running:D I have the young girl that I want. Have been married to her for 30 years come september 1st. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.

Need to check on some of the local attractions there in Key West. I think that Mallory Square is the happening place.

Mary during annual training some of the people went on a compass course and when they returned they were covered with ticks. They went to medical station and showered and then checked closely. We didn't need anyone to come down with lyme disease.

Mike

I am SO EXCITED! I just booked or tickets to NY. I am taking DS ( I took DD last summer) July 4-8th. I have been watching fares for about 3 months now waiting for a good deal, and got one today. I plan on visiting our Cruisetoberfest friend Tulirose while we are there!

Oh Mary! How excitiing. I was in NY in 1968 on a senior class trip and haven't been back even though I now have two friends living there. Tuli and a girl named Marie. I was with Marie the day Mike and I met at the lake. She was the big buxom blonde and I was the streaked brown hair cut in a shag. :D He was alooking at Marie and I was coming in for the kill. ;) That was the first week in July 1972 and Sept 1 we were married.

Enjoy New York. I would love to see that city again but driving there..."Shiver":p Hello Rosemary.

Went to see DD2 last night to take her some art supplies for one last project at school. She was working on a wood carving and needed some things to be able to turn it in today. DSIL is taking it to school for her today. Her feet were swollen and she looked so drawn. I fussed at her and told her that if she didn't lay down that Katie would have a new Mommy if she seized and died. I had just had it. She promised me that this was the last thing so she wouldn't get an incomplete in that subject. I thought she was able to withdraw from school. I am waiting to hear from her this morning. Has a Dr.'s appointment today. Kids!

We had a terrible storm last night here. So far the kids are all alright. Everyone take care, enjoy yourselves. Kathy

Been out of the loop for 5 days ... did that "Ok I've had it with the craft room" cleaning the last couple of days. Another day or two and then I can rearrange (Art'll like hearing that!). Saturday I helped a girl I work with move into her first home. Mostly did some baby sitting with her 5 month old son ... he is just sooooo cute. All I could think of was how much fun Mike and Kathy are going to have with the new grandbaby.

Mike .. Kathy, just what are you guys going to be called? GrandPaPa and GrandMaMa ... or what. I know some areas of the country have specific names for the grandparents. PopPop, vs Gramdpa vs Gramps. etc. Inquiring minds needs to know.

Gotta catch up on what you guys are doing and work calls. Check back later.

Hi Cathy, so glad to hear from you. Mike will still be "Papa". He has been "Papa" since the day DD1 called him that when we were trying to get her to say "Daddy"???????? In fact, she was at my MIL's home years ago and one of the Great Aunts was visiting and asked Kathryn "What is your Daddy's name?" She told the Aunt that she didn't have a daddy. My MIL got so mad that she was ready to put ME under the ground! She thought a minute then got to laughing. She asked DD1 what was the name of her Papa. "Mike"was promptly given. She told me about it later and we had a good laugh over it. I don't know what I will be called. I'm hoping for Grandmommy or Grandmom or even DGM :D

Speaking of Crafting rooms, I just lost my mind in my sewing room and put my foot down and told Mike that one way or another I was going to have shelves! He has gone to Lowes. I can't find anything in there and it was driving me crazy. :( Now I have no excuse not to clean it.)

Have a nice rest of the day. Kathy

Yes I tinker with selling trips in my Spare time..........which is getting less and less. I missed your post originally........don't know how? There were good specials to Vegas with Friends and Family fly Free on Southwest. You could both fly down for $320 total. You need to book before 5/23/02. I'll try to grab the extra maps and flyers......Let me know what you want in particular. I got a cool "POCKET" map from Disney Travel when we booked. Can't wait to use it.......

Mike and Cathy- Mutt and Jeff's birthday is 5/24/02. I had a family full of Tauruses. So I asked the doc to hold off a few days.
I didn't know that I pushed them into being Gemini's.......LOL.
On another note- Guy and I's anniversary is also 9/1/02. 18 years this year...... (and well the 2 other years that we just lived in SIN :-) )

Hello to all.........gotta scoot.

Kids and I are really jacked to See DL again.

Well, it's just after 4 a.m. and I dread getting into the sewing room this morning. Mike went to Home Depot and then I went to meet him there and he had two shelves that were $18.00 apiece. I thought that there had to be a better way, so we went back to lumber and when we left, instead of the 36 bucks he was gonna spend we spent 105.00. Gulp. :o I got a lot more shelving. :D He got a new screwdriver because our son had lost the other one. And screws are expensive!

Tuli, did you get to see Lucky Lindy's grandson take off yesterday in the new "Spirt of St Louis"? The news people interviewed a lady that saw the first one take off. WOW! Mike loves planes and we both liked the Smithsonian so we have visited the original plane twice now.

Patty, we have birthdays from May through August in our little family then Mike and my anniversery in Sept. DD1 was born 9 months and 5 days after we married. :D :smooth: :bounce: Whew!

We are under 150 days. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take care everyone, and have a good day. Kathy

Patty, have you had those kids yet? ;) How did Mutt and Jeff travel last year? (Look at their birthdate you posted) :D

OK I like "PaPa" and "GrandMommy" is neat too! But (craftwise) I was hoping for something shorter. Have an idea bouncing around in my head and need to let it out.

I was wondering if PeaGreenid had those kids yet myself. Maybe she is trying for the Guinness Record Books to help her pay for a cruise .... hehehe!

Taking tonite off from cleaning/re-arranging the sewing room
to work up a craft pattern and watch Survivor, CSI, etc. Thursday night is one of my fav TV nights.

Before I forget ... Kathy are you still going to do a Stateroom Door Decoration for "our anniversary"? My SIL does them and said that most of the doors are metal and you can use magnets to hold the stuff up. Speaking of anniversaries, Peagreenid is also celebrating on 9-1 .... how cool. Maybe we could bribe the Captain into doing a mass renewal ceremony for free .... yea right, this is Disney .... probably be easier to "buy" a stateroom.

Check back later.

Cathy, my mother was 'Grandma'. I kinda like that too. Mike's mom was Granny and she will always be the 'Granny' in this house. Sorry.

Yes I would like to decorate our door. Pics? What are you thinking of? Gimme a hint.:D Oh! I just can't wait.

Yeah, I had a good laugh over Patty's kids' birthdate. Wonder how they went to clubs and things on the boat? ;) She really sounds nice, I can't wait to meet her.

Mike and I made two whole shelves today and they look GOOD! We used the router on the edges that show and knocked the sharp off. We are not wood working people but doggone it they look good. I am loving the raw wood look and am not painting them for awhile. I love the smell of new wood. Now to get the room rearranged.

Yes tonight is my favorite tv night too but Stacey just called and invited Mike and me to the Outback, my favorite resturant, outside of the Crackerbarrel. So we are meeting them for dinner and recording Survivors and CSI.

It got really hot here today. At 4 a.m. it was 75 degrees. Between 3 and 4:30p.m. it got downright cold. It dropped 20 degrees!

Well, gotta get off and get a shower, meet Stacey and Eric for dinner so Stacey can get back to bed. Take care. Katie is still breech. -Sigh- Kathy

Before anyone fusses, Stacey and Eric had a late doctor's appointment and they will be on their way home and have to stop for dinner. Don't they.........?

Take care, Kathy

Cathy,
guess I've been a little frazzled lately.......LOL. Maybe I was just thinking how they are such BABIES sometimes......:D
Of all things I promised to take Jeff to the store tonight to get a couple of new blouses for our trip. I completely spaced off the fact that she was bringing home one of those Computerized dolls for her Teen Living class. UGH! Just what I didn't need....let me tell you. She said she got a lot of glares from Older ladies in the mall. I guess they weren't too impressed with a 13 year old with a baby......!!!! (neither was I) The baby actually did better than they did......! I can't believe that we are leaving on Saturday morning. I got M & J packed, I just need to pack myself. Pretty tough to get the extras done sometimes when you are working 13 hour shifts.

talk to you all when I get back
smiles Patty
